- Oldest World of Warcraft Cinematic Trailer. This is a compilation of the old 1999/2001 cinematic/trailer of pre Alpha WoW along with the later patch trailers that came with the original 2004 release of the game from BWL to Naxx. Took some time to dig these oldies out (and in decent quality). Hope you enjoy this Nostalgia Trip!

World of Warcraft launched on November 23rd, 2004. On that day we were introduced to a vast, open world unlike any other filled with many triumphs and memories! As of 2017, World of Warcraft spans across SIX total expansions including The Burning Crusade, The Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor and Legion.

Best game ever made, thousands and thousands of hours since 2005. didnt play all the expansions after 2015 I stoped, but it was a damn hell good 10 years of the best game ever made

6:11 When I began playing the game, blizz recommend me a RP server. Never had anything to do with RP and it was a weird experience. Then i switched the realm because of a friend and because I thought the RP-thing is everywhere, I called myself "Doklatar guardian of the land" (Doklatar were the characters name, tauren sham) when I first joined their teamspeak. They laughed their asses of and I started to learn the game instead of the RP way of wrting. This picture made me chose the name.
I will never forget my first Character being undead, being taken by two guildmembers to see the barrens for the first time. It was marvelous to me. I also remember that i was in a wailing caverns group, playing my warlock in meele because my warrior friend looked so cool and the firestone kind of let you think you could. Couldnt port that poor healer, because i did not now what summoning is. We attacked astraanar and I saw a tauren with the title "Waffenträger" (german horde pvp rank three) wich you can trasnlate to "weapon carrier" and tought his job was to carry weapons for everyone for the astraanar attack.
I played on a RP server on the new classic launch and it was great. Miss you celebras

WoW, 2004~2008: A world of mystery and danger, culminating in a showdown with the lich king, finally bringing warcraft's story full circle.
WoW, 2009~2020: "Tentacle monsters"
WoW, 2020~2022: We made a depressed robot, and focused an xpac around him.
WoW, 2023: IDK, something about dragons? Some light tentacle monsters.

Thank you for making this! It brings back a lot of memories. I played Classic a lot back in the day. As WoW moved on I lost interest, and I mainly keep up with the story by watching cinematics and patch trailers. This brings me some joy, Merci!
Thank you for the kind words. And yes truly, WoW is not the same as it was back then. Frankly, I continue to play the game to follow the Warcraft Franchise, so I love all the cinematics and patch trailers Blizzard animates. It's like watching a full length movie!

I just love how much clearer it is in these old Trailers that Blizzard used their Warcraft 3 engine (modified obv) to create an entire MMORPG. Amazes me to this day what they and other creators are capable to get out of the Editor
To rewatch what my younger self was Playing feels so good. Cant belive that i am still here and play this Game from Vanilla to now.
Started playing this game at 2004 beta and all the way to 2006, this game gave me the best gaming experience I ever had and I just know I will never have the same in any game again!
I must say, I joined in Wrath so I didn't get to experience the true vanilla wow journey. I've seen the mess and controversy with private servers so I've avoided those. But Blizz making an official Classic server is a god send! Bless ya!

Blizz art department literally keeps the game going. You can have all the systems and abilities you want, but the visuals, dated by today's standards, still stand out. Their cinematics, even back then, were always ahead of their time and can still put some of today's big budget Hollywood movies to shame.
I learned of WoW the summer before Burning Crusade when I was buying a custom built PC at our local computer store (remember those?). I actually made an account the week before BC dropped. Much like Teron Gorefiend, I had a lot of catching up to do.
One of my fondest memories was when I took my night elf hunter and finished leveling in Teldressil, I was sent to Dark Shore and after some time there, I noticed the map didn't "end", it look like there was something to the south. I wanted to explore it. I ended up crossing the boundary into Ashenvale and I could not believe that a world like this could exist, at the time it was so huge.
Then I had my ass handed to me by a high-level stag that I accidentally pissed off :D
I had no friends to play with, everyone in game was so far ahead of me that I had to attempt to learn everything on my own. I had help from random people here and there along the way that gave me pointers. I was a "mouse clicker" too, didn't learn to use the keyboard for the longest time. I went through vanilla by the time everyone was finishing BC. I spent my entire time in BC while everyone was assaulting Northrend. It wasn't until the very end of the third expansion that I actually started learning well enough to play that I got into doing dungeons (dungeon finder). Some of my first ever dungeons were not just the ones from WotLK, but the three ICC dungeons that came out when ICC opened. So, needless to say, I learned things really quick. I eventually learned rotations and how to use the keyboard properly. By the time Cata came out, I felt like a pro (even though I wasn't), but I was able to stay alive much longer and I FINALLY caught up with everyone.
the old gameplay trailers are so funny to watch now 😂the way the camera is so clearly being controlled by some guy waving his mouse around trying to catch shots of the action just looks so goofy like a fanmade machinima even though it was the official trailer 😂

A time when Blizzard was respected as one of the best (the best ?) video games studio on earth.
I am so happy that I was able to play on Kronos Private Vanilla server since their emergence in 2015 as I had the greatest experience that was bug-free. I played a Human Warlock known as 'Euloqariaxia.' I literally did everything I wanted to do in Vanilla WoW: collect all my tier sets, PvP, and go through all the patches. I looked at this video and saw AQ and expressed that 'C'Thun is really the only fun encounter' and the countless times I was in Naxxramas and have killed Kel'Thuzard 25 times. I am now retired and I just remember the brutal credibility and grind for potions and flasks and food buffs and world buffs, Oye.

I really hope that eventually, some more alpha and pre-alpha game clients and builds see the light of day (leak) to the internet. Having 0.5.3 from Dec. 2003 is great and all, but it would be so damn cool if something from 2002 or even 2001 was ever leaked. I read the whole article on WoW from "Computer Gaming World Issue 208", and what quest(s) they had at that time (one being detailed about needing to forge a sword to kill a treant boss) was the best damn thing I've read about WoW in years.
I remember seeing that first cinematic when it was packaged with wc3. I had no idea it was an upcoming game at the time, I thought it was just some generalized cinematic about the warcraft brand. Imagine my hype when i learned 😂
Holy shit, i thought i was the only one who thought that as well. Had no idea it was a separate game until wow released. If i remember right the cinematic was on 'The Frozen Throne' expansion disc.

they had all their trailers for the patches (Zul'Gurub etc) on their old ass website that you even could download and now you barely can find them anymore

Make's sense a lot of WoW's lead designers used to work on EverQuest & Ultima Online to name a few.
Holt crap I haven’t seen those first couple videos in the first 4 1/2 minutes in like 20 years and it all rushed back to me in seconds to the point that I knew exactly what would appear next... that was crazy! I used to devour every last bit of info on that game that I could as I waited 😂
I wonder how they’ll handle the graphics side of things in WoW Classic. Will they go full old school? Or maybe make that an option (like how you can toggle old models rn)?
I think they'll probably offer the option between old and new models. They'll also maybe polish a few of the vanilla bugs and whatnot. But I hope they don't mess with a lot of it. One thing I miss from vanilla was the size and scope since blizzard has changed view settings over the last decade.
They're not going to let you toggle new models, at least I'd bet all my gold they won't. They want to bring it back without bugs, not change it. There's too many little things people want, and all of them added together pretty much make it a legion version of vanilla, which misses the point entirely. For example, I'd prefer if they removed the 8 to 16 debuff limit on bosses, but others might not... yada yada
I don't see them making an option for new models. People have been asking for vanilla wow and a lot of people don't want features from current wow in classic wow because it would ruin the experience of what it was like back then

Athelarius and then you were wondering why is the quest not completed and blamed blizzard to fix the quest because it was bugged when in truly you couldnt complete it because you were in a raid 😅. Noob times but they were the best
And some classes, especially warrior were a PAIN to level. Having to stop and eat after every mob, hoping you dont aggro more than 1. O_O But in the end, as grindy as it all was, it made reaching max level, and every single gear piece that much more meaningful. It was a real achievement!
