IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I was hoping that you would review this monitor after I saw HUB's review so I could cross-reference but I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to 1440p. Very satisfied watching the review on the XG27ACS. Sadly it's the only monitor in my region that had reasonable price tag, and it's gone up from when I bought mine (310 USD to 345 USD). (it was even cheaper than the MSI recommendations and KTC just isn't available where I'm at.)

@@sidthixaychoummanivong5643On a dark brightness you won’t see it much, it’s more to do with the coating they put on. It’s extremely thick. You know how phone screens look when it rains and you get water on the screen? Yeah that’s the thing people are complaining about
Read multiple posts and saw couple videos about Asus XG27ACS. Apparently it has some coating issues that are not mentioned here or in your previous review.

hi, I wanted to buy this monitor, but in my country only the XG27ACG is available. can you please make a video on that? or at least show the differences between these two monitor?
Looks like the most complete and refined option for the segment. There are theoretically a lot of options and some are cheaper but there are always some major problems like inadequate response times, no or poorly implemented variable overdrive, poor ergonomics with dumb v-shaped stands getting in a way of the mouse, forced wide gamut without sRGB mode and so on. It is kind of silly they still get basics wrong after all this time. This XG27ACS seems like a proper baseline. Price and availability is all over the place here in the EU but on a good deal this is the best entry level model.
Finally a video comparing it to the aw2724dm. Do you personally think the Asus is better for ps5 120hz in terms of response time and motion clarity? All I play are multiplayer fps games.
This was one of my options when I was searching for a new monitor last week. I realized this monitor has the exact same specs as VG27AQ3A, only this monitor is 30 ~ 50 USD more expensive due to its brand, so I bought the VG27 monitor. Funny enough both are ASUS brands. So if you're looking for cheaper option get the VG27.
Hey! thanks for sharing this. I was about to bite the bullet on this monitor but then I saw your comment. There difference is about USD65 where I live, so it's quite substantial. I'll have a look at it now
I also have that Omen X 25 (TN 240hz G-Sync variant). It's a shame ULMB on that monitor is limited to 144hz. I'm actually looking to upgrade to XG27ACS so this is literally the perfect video.
I’ve tested this monitor and the matte coating is too thick causing the image to look like when you have a wet smudge/or an oily screen on a white or grey background. The points of sale being the low latency at high fresh rates and barely any flickering. G2724D over this for colour accuracy and response. Otherwise if you need a slightly higher refresh rate go for the ROG

@ @ People do talk about it but I believe that’s swept under the rug to make the monitor look good marketing wise. Matte coatings can vary monitor to monitor and there isn’t a reliable way to know how much ‘coating’ you are going to get on any of them. On my G2724D the coating is thin and that’s how I prefer it but some people will complain about reflections so a mild matte coating would benefit most. I haven’t tried curved monitors but the immersion is definitely a gimmick, don’t fall into the marketing pit hole; but maybe I’m just saying that because I haven’t tried it.. (I’m mostly a 1440p fps player on battlefield 5) imo LG isn’t known for providing panels with good contrast so I’m more on the side of Dell which is my personal bias

Dear Techless, I'm wondering if I should buy the Innocn 27G1S Plus or the XG27ACS. I will play valorant (semi competitively) and watch videos. I have a budget of 300€. From EUW, France. I do have a slight preference for glossy panels. I can get the Asus monitor for 50€ more than the Innocn monitor. That's why i'm picking the 27G1S Plus as a first option. Yet, if you think that the Asus one is a better monitor for me, I would mind changing my choice as it would be the only monitor i'm buying. I never tried 240Hz so not picking the Innocn monitor won't really affect me FPS wise Best Regards.
The only bad thing here is that it has only 890:1 contrast. Imo the IPS monitors are good when they pass the original 1000:1 over it. Like 1100-1200:1 while still having good response time. I wonder to buy this monitor as my first 1440p ever, but i'm curious about that low contrast. You think i should give it a try?
I was kinda hoping you would review the Koorui 27E3QKS instead. It's the same price (actually 10 euro cheaper for what I can see) and it is a 240 Hz display!
Interestingly, hardware unboxed got much better contrast ratio, at 1100:1, so you might have gotten unlucky with the panel. However, the common thing between both reviews is excellent motion clarity, with a great variable overdrive setting that works over the wide range of refresh rate, and standard colour accuracy is great, especially in the sRGB mode. Will definitely consider this monitor
Hi. Let me throw this at you, if you please.Does this panel use the standard "RGB subpixel layout", rather than the triangular or that other style layout? Using a RGB subpixel layout is said to be much better at displaying text and it is optimized for Windows! I'm surprised that, so far, all monitors i see for sale - do not mention this at all. Hoping you'd know for sure. Great review man. Thank you
I managed to buy such a monitor and also the camera light recently, but I am unable to mount the Viltrox device on the Asus monitor . I guess the factory default mount is for cameras, right ? Would you please advise what mount device should I purchase and where ? Or do I only need a converter or screw :) ? I saw you use a Smallrig device , but you did not list it in the video description and I am unable to find it .
Hi. Can I charge the wireless mouse or connect a keyboard from the USB-C port? What is the "Nigh Vision" function? Is there a profile dedicated to reading documents to avoid eye strain?
I am looking for a tablet (OS doesn't matter since it will only be used for photo editing and maybe drawing) which is below 500 bucks, but still has an as photo accurate as possible color acuracy. (most I could find look over saturated, especially apple for some reason, and most videos on YT use of the sheld video matrial and generated voices.) And scrren good brightness would be nice to have, so I could edit my photos on the go, but that's effectively optional. Which tablets are recomendable?
I've been looking at this monitor for a few months now but it was too expensive where I lived and there were barely any reviews of it at the time so I decided to go for another one instead. Anyway, Display Specifications say the panel is only 8-bit, is that really the case? Because I find that hard to believe at this price point considering most other 1440p monitors of this class or cheaper than it is 10bit/8bit+FRC.
I've just bought it and I'm returning it in a few days. This monitor would be perfect if the coating wasn't so agressively grainy. It's not visible while playing games or watching movies, but on any mostly white/light background the display looks like it had a layer of grease/vaseline on it. I'm buying Dell g2724d shortly after. I was deceived by the Asus ROG brand and its legacy was the only thing that made me buy this Asus monitor. Besides the coating. It's well done for the price amd has good features. I bought it for 325 USD so it was slightly more expensive than Dell g2724d.
could the coating be a defective unit problem? does just look like that for all units of this monitor? i want to get this for web design and most of my workflow is in white/light color space. only this and vg27aqml1a are available in my country but vg27aqml1a has worse color accuracy
@@shuvamsky It's iffy, I've also bought one and have been using it. I think it's only noticeable if you're thinking about it, other than that it should be fine :)
Great review and a very good "budget" monitor. Yet for me it didn't work so well, it caused eye strain also when there is a lot of white on the screen (e.g. internet browser), it looks like there is something smeary on the screen, so I sent it back.
@@thesuspect6168 I'll check out a glossy OLED haven't decided yet which one exactly or if I wait for the new LG ones. I'll let you guys know if interested.
i bought one last month for $200...a ktc 170 hz 1440p curved. so far so good...i don't really use it much for gaming, but I'm glad i can go past 120hz if need be. i was using an old jvc 37 in. 1080p tv as my main monitor. so i see this as an improvement...and just this week it's down to $160 with coupon....granted asus is a more reputable brand but you're basically just paying a higher price for the name.

i bought this monitor a month ago and i have to day monitor is fast, that was the main motivation for me, but in general i dont recommend it. I thought 2k 27 inch monitor will be a great upgrade for me but it end up being just bigger version of Acer S190WL. This low contrast hurts alot and it bleeds and glows so much. My old Samsung Syncmaster P2250 gives better visions then this. Fortunately we find out a problem within the monitor and i was able to return it.
While HDR is a gimmick on monitors like these, some games might still benefit from it. I use it for example in Halo MCC on my LG 27GR75Q. The main issue here is windows, because windows can't auto turn on or off HDR mode (Win+Alt+B) since auto HDR requires monitor to be in HDR mode...
Do you guys think this option is better than the Gigabyte M27Q for a gaming monitor with great color quality (like watching movies and maybe light image/video editing that doesn't require high sRGB or Rec. 709)? the Asus recently went down from $300 to $200. The lowest I've seen the M27Q is $220 which I think is a few years old
I have 2 monitors that look really similar, but are a cheaper/older 1080p 165hz model. Honestly both the monitors have drastically different color accuracy and idk what the deal with that is
Regardless of some of the advantages, that contrast ratio, resulting in what looked like very poor HDR performance would rule this out for me at the first hurdle.
i noticed that in the Tuned sRGB Mode Performance report you used GamingVisual Racing mode, but in the recommended settings you suggested GamingVisual User Mode, is the color performance better with Racing or User Mode in this case?
Good catch! I used the User Mode for the test, so that was just a copy paste error on that slide. I'd assume with the same settings Racing and User should actually produce the same results (but didn't test that).
@@MannyMeez The contrast number already is for the tuned wide gamut mode. I always quote the contrast at D65 white and 140 nits unless otherwise noted.
@@techlessYT Apologies I'm not a tech savvy person at all 🤣 I literally go off 0-100 contrast on my monitor. Id be using the sRGB mode as I play on console
It is not clear whether to choose wide gamut or sRGB colour space - due to oversaturated content. If I want games and usual online content look more close to its intended colours I should use sRGB colour space, right? And if yes then why even offer that wide gamut colour space? For image processing professionals? Second question: even if I calibrate monitor with DataColour SpyderXpro wide gamut will still give oversaturated colours, right?
it's all personal preference at the end of the day. I am used to sRGB so I use that for gaming over wide/native. For TH-cam and browsing you should never use wide color gamut for SDR
can only find it for 360-404€, my guess is that it's not worth at that price? any better monitor alternative for 300-360€ if possible? Finding a monitor that is accepted as good seems harder than finding any other PC part seriously wtf.
Does anyone have experience with ASUS fast va? The WCS variant is currently $40 cheaper than the ACS and wonder if the black smearing is significant/noticeable.
I feel like many monitors reviewed of late offer good colour accuracy with a dedicated srgb mode of some kind. Good to see this trend

I never tried 240Hz so not picking the Innocn monitor won't really affect me FPS wise
Best Regards.
You think i should give it a try?
yea

Nice VIdeo! Can you pls Test the ASUS TUF Gaming VG249QM1A? Im thinking about to buy this monitor
I use this with Mac mini M2. Looks good.
Will definitely consider this monitor
hii, does the monitor look grainy/smudgy in white/light color screens? or for example when browing on youtube in light white mode
can you review MSI MAG 274QRF QD E2
Hello top video could you give me the ideal settings to have low latency to play on cod on ps5
Thanks
Thank you
Yes, it's standard RGB stripe 👍
can we get a asus rog strix xg259qn review?
I managed to buy such a monitor and also the camera light recently, but I am unable to mount the Viltrox device on the Asus monitor . I guess the factory default mount is for cameras, right ?
Would you please advise what mount device should I purchase and where ?
Or do I only need a converter or screw :) ?
I saw you use a Smallrig device , but you did not list it in the video description and I am unable to find it .
Just added the link to the description. I'm using a double ball head mount, but generally everything with two 1/4" screws at both ends should work.
Damn, okay i'm stuck between the Alienware AW2723DF and now the XG27ACS, what would you recommend from the 2?
Can you do a rewiew and right setting for the koorui gn02
Hi. Can I charge the wireless mouse or connect a keyboard from the USB-C port? What is the "Nigh Vision" function? Is there a profile dedicated to reading documents to avoid eye strain?
honestly after seeing oled im just convinced to save up and wait

Yes, it's using the MV270QHM-NF5, which is a true 8 bit panel.
What equipment you use to measure the response times?
For example, is elmb sync not active when playing games between 80 and 100 Hz? Or does it benefit gameplay?
what about acer vg271u m3bmiipx? also have similar 180hz ips refresh rate 😃
It's at 245€ with a voucher on amazon rn
Hi I have a Question why can't I buy the mobiuz ex240 in germany anymore. I only found it on amazon renewed
what is your go to in 24' monitors?
ROG Strix XG27ACMG should be available any day now. Seems to be this same monitor but with 270hz and HDMI 2.1.
its 250$ rn but want to wait to see if the 1440p 270hz goes on sale
How do you like the G2724D so far compared to the XG27ACS?? @tomasz4705
Should i get this monitor, the msi g274qpx or the lenovo y27h-30 if their around the same price?
What about 27" MSI G274QPF E2?
Wait is it actually 890:1 contrast ratio? The stores and website on Asus say 1000:1
bruh i just ordered today...i saw hardware unboxed one saying over 1000:1.

Great review and a very good "budget" monitor. Yet for me it didn't work so well, it caused eye strain also when there is a lot of white on the screen (e.g. internet browser), it looks like there is something smeary on the screen, so I sent it back.
What do you buy instead?

Honestly both the monitors have drastically different color accuracy and idk what the deal with that is
Which panel would you recommend that would fill in the areas lacking in this model? If i had say $400 to spend? Thanks - anyone
@@techlessYT what was the contrast used on the Tuned settings?
@@MannyMeez The contrast number already is for the tuned wide gamut mode. I always quote the contrast at D65 white and 140 nits unless otherwise noted.
@@techlessYT Apologies I'm not a tech savvy person at all 🤣 I literally go off 0-100 contrast on my monitor. Id be using the sRGB mode as I play on console
@@MannyMeez Ah I thought you were asking for the measured contrast 😅 Contrast setting in the menu is the default value.
Review LG 27GP850-B plsssss
Hi! Very good video!
I also bought one but threw away the box. And I would need the CN code of such a monitor. Can anyone help me with this?
It is not clear whether to choose wide gamut or sRGB colour space - due to oversaturated content. If I want games and usual online content look more close to its intended colours I should use sRGB colour space, right? And if yes then why even offer that wide gamut colour space? For image processing professionals?
Second question: even if I calibrate monitor with DataColour SpyderXpro wide gamut will still give oversaturated colours, right?
it's all personal preference at the end of the day. I am used to sRGB so I use that for gaming over wide/native. For TH-cam and browsing you should never use wide color gamut for SDR
Is this 8bit only or does it have 8bit+frc?
Does it have speakers ?
can only find it for 360-404€, my guess is that it's not worth at that price? any better monitor alternative for 300-360€ if possible?
Finding a monitor that is accepted as good seems harder than finding any other PC part seriously wtf.
Does anyone have experience with ASUS fast va? The WCS variant is currently $40 cheaper than the ACS and wonder if the black smearing is significant/noticeable.
Acer XV272U V3 is good if you're in India
