Finally, the review does not target 1% top end users. OLEDs are great but most of people buy LCD because of PRICE. Please give us more LCD reviews, they are really needed.
Also, OLED reviews are insanely boring. We already know that every OLED is going to be a chart topper just by nature of how they work. It's almost impossible to eff up an OLED purchase.
But if you want the best 1440p LCD right now, I'd go with the KTC M27T20, 576 zone backlight 180hz hdr 1000 it was on sale for $300 last week. There's also a Sceptre 240hz 24in 1080p monitor for $130 which is pretty insane.
@@VorexiaThe KTC G27P6. I have heard that outside of the US, this monitor is difficult to get your hands on, however. Mine arrived a few days ago, and with the new RTX HDR filter, it just makes every game look incredible. I managed to get mine from the KTC store on Amazon by glitching a coupon and then just removing the promo product from my cart but the coupon still applied. Your results may vary.
@skweezyguy1567 I can't blame them. Not only are they the current trend for new monitors and thus have a LOT of requests on videos for Tim's input, but most of the comments I see on videos mention nothing about "eww, another OLED that we already know the response rate and color accuracy". Maybe it's a YT algorithm problem with showing positive comments significantly more than negative comments. Maybe people just didn't say anything until this video. Genuinely not sure where all these comments came from.
@moldyshishkabob Because most of us who can't deal with any burn in, or those who can't afford the OLED skip those videos. I tend to ignore the video if it has OLED in the title, as the vast majority of videos in the last year have. So if we don't watch the video, we don't get into it to leave a comment.
As someone who does video and photo editing as a hobby, monitors that are already well calibrated are an absolute godsend, glad to see more manufacturers focusing on that.
Got this monitor for $200 on sale from Amazon. Very good build quality for the price, and overall specs were decent. Satisfied with it, even over my M27Q-P. Feels much more premium overall. Brightness is a little below what I expected but it’s still very good. For $200 I don’t think it really could be beat.
hi man i want to get it but some reviews are mentioning harsh grainy matte coating on the display. is the matte coating on this display good? is it a little grainy/fuzzy on white or light colors? a weird kind of "sheen" or "grain" on the whole screen that is mainly only visible on white or mostly white screens, like on TH-cam, or after opening a new tab. It's sort of hard to explain. It looks like there's a thin film of Vaseline on the screen, causing it to look smudgy. does it look like that for you?
@@Kian_Farasat Hi, I just bought it and it does look like that from normal viewing distance (around 60cm). Above 70cm it isn't that noticeable. Also it's only the white backgrounds and in some cases that makes it even more visible, for example when only a portion of the screen is bright (like in the sky or looking into a white light source in a game) everywhere else it looks good and you just notice the white isn't fully homogenous.
Is your screen completely clear and glossy or do you have like smudges on it? I bought the monitor and it seemed like it had a matte covering or film on it, but could be a production error. Basically visible whenever you look at any white background.
I'M happy to see IPS monitor reviews. Because most of PC users out there have a single monitor setup and they do everything on that PC : browsing the web, spreadsheets, view videos AND gaming. This is the most comon gaming setup out there. Therefore, OLED is out of the question because of burning issue AND a lack of text clarity. So thank you to FINALY consider that.
I personally use my OLED for everything, but I've accepted that it will eventually burn in. Text clarity is absolute ass though, but it is what it is. I figured it will last me 3 years or so until hopefully there are some massive improvements in the mini LED space in terms of local dimming algorithms and response times. But we'll see.
Let's not forget the VRR issue with OLEDS which renders it completely moot considering how much they cost. At that price VRR flickering shouldn't be an issue.
Exactly why I went with mini LED for my monitor that I use 90% for work (Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30) it was quite pricey but had all the cute little features (like hassle free kvm switch, PD, 165 hz uwqhd) which I was looking for. Burn in would be terrible with all the Excel bullshit I'm dealing with daily!
Heck yea! i was hoping you'd review this one at some point. I had picked one of these up after my monitor died and it has seemed like a solid all arounder without giving up too much in any direction (good color, good refresh, good motion) while not breaking the bank! Glad to see its full review and now I can rec it to friends as well! Thank you for doing these more affordable screens!

Great to see budget LCDs continuing to improve. I'm not looking to shell out four figures for a monitor, as I simply don't use my monitor often enough to justify it, but am shopping for a resolution + refresh rate upgrade.
i just got this monitor. a few days ago and first thing first its really awesome. Upgraded from a MSI mag 240hz ips and i wanted something that was as clear in motion and as colour accurate. The Asus its an upgrade for sure. Super clear in motion and no weird artifacts and maybe you lose a tiny bit of micro detail in really fast moving objects in games but who cares like i said its just a very tiny bit. Also, I'm in a dark room all the time with minimal sunlight/light and doesn't blind me to get the results I'm looking for and the blacks is also darker than my previous MSI that i mentioned earlier. it just does things so well for the minute Con. the stand! i love that its stand is also has a small footprint on my desk so there's less clutter. although, it would've been nice with a more powerful usb type c port so i can charge my phone with it quicker but still works just fine. Cant wait to get a ps5 so i can have that same experience with console gaming because that 120hz 1440p 5.7ms with no ghosting seems so nice, also just so nice knowing that it can achieve that even without it being a hdmi2.1. Thanks for the review I'm very happy with my new monitor! its ultra fast, the colours are accurate and vibrant, and takes up minimal desk space 🤠thought id write a long message about it for anyone wondering about it from a consumer POV, and appreciation for Monitors Unboxed sees it because the work is actually goated and to say to Monitors Unboxed and big thank you again. alright, I'm done glazing 🤣 ✌✌✌

Finally another trustworthy review of this monitor. Been waiting for months for your review since i discovered and chose this monitor for my planned build. At the time of discovery, the only trustworthy review i found of this monitor is from TechteamGB iirc, and his review of this monitor is positive. Another good thing is that the price of this monitor is decreasing rapidly in my country, though still more expensive compared to similarly specced monitors, such as Gigabyte GS27Q and the AOC Q27G4, but i'll take that factory color calibration premium. Great work as always, keep it up!
Thanks for the effort, I know you work hard at these reviews. Personally, I havee suspended even considering any asus products until they have a minimum 2-year history of not screwiong customers.
i hope companies make more glossy monitors. those are really needed in the market. just imagine a glossy 1440p fast ips with hdr under 400$ what a dream
I am considering this as a pairing with the top ASUS glossy Oled for the majority of my day to day use as well as gaming and keep the Oled for Movies, series ie Apple HD Tv box and bluray disc movies.
I ordered two of them today, for €299 each. I'm replacing my M27Q rev. 1 and a (very) much older 1080p Samsung S24F356F. I'm excited! OLED would have appealed to me too, especially because money is not a big issue, but I don't fancy hardware with an "expiration date", at least there's no expiration date dictated by the hardware.

Think I’ll keep recommending the $199.99 Dell 2724D as the true bang for buck champion. 27” 2560x1440 165hz IPS. You seriously need to get one for a video as I think it would rank quite well on your comparison charts.
You need to do a video on the awful quality control that is plaguing the monitor industry. What's the point of watching reviews to select a product to buy only to find that almost every unit from every brand has backlight bleed and dead pixels and so do the units delivered as replacement after RMA headaches. Unless you spend $1300 on EIZO products you are playing lottery at every price point from $250-$600. This needs to stop.
It’s not as good. I had one and send it back. Massive oversaturation..ghosting..peak brightness not as good.. My feelings about this monitor😇 Maybe it helps you..
i own it and only because it's the upgrade to the original QD and I mainly bought it cause it has KVM and 65w PD. imo it's as good but would like to see Tim review it
I have to choose one of them but couldnt decide yet. Statistically MSI’s colour much better but reviews say the opposite. May I ask you what did you buy?
Wow, finally a budget monitor with variable overdrive and great SRGB mode out of the box. From Asus too surprisingly. I always thought they were too "premium" of a brand to release something this good at the budget level. This is definitely my next monitor to get whenever my current ones break. Thanks for the great review as always!

Samsung one looks good but to be honest worst amongst these 3, and it has only DP 1.2!
Please more LCD reviews. Not everyone wants OLEDs - personally, in my region prices are outrageous and I don't want burn-in which I've already encountered on my mobile phone with fairly adequate usage.

Do you have any opinions to give, because I know both are at different refresh rate but just wanna upgrade my monitor from a 60hz to a higher hz.
Was able to buy this monitor a few weeks ago and man going to 1440p from 1080 has been amazing. What really sold me was the out-of-the-box premium you can get with this monitor. Haven't really been able to test the responsiveness nor the color accuracy but I have been running the sRGB mode with no complaints. Having the audio-jack has been the biggest QoL feature over the slot for the smartphone. Bezels are thicker than the AOC 24G2 (2019) I was running on previously but the upgrade was definitely worth it. I got this monitor some days ago and have to say that the colors look realy good, also it can be very bright and the clarity in game is awsome. Yet there's a huge problem with it. It gives me and other users (check forums) eye strains, despite optimized and different settings. Also when it displays a white backround, e.g. during web browsing, it looks like there are stains in the white area. I have no clue why that is the case, but if those two problems wouldn't exist, I would have kept it, but those two issues are a no go for me. Will send it back.
Something I have to say and this is purely my opinion: After reading countless reviews and hearing tons of appraising comments from all around the interwebs how they are at another level and seeing games is like looking at things through a window or whatever, I updated an average 27" 1440p IPS to a state of the art appraised 32" 4K OLED. My experience in short: Is it better? Yes. Is the difference game changing? No. What do I want people to know: You need to pixel clean EVERY DAY and it takes longer than you would imagine and does not always succeed so it can take longer. It is like having to clean your computer EVERY DAY or it gets permanently damaged. Would I buy another 4K OLED if this one breaks down? Likely not, just some 4K with decent HDR, but I would also be quite happy with my old 27" 1440p 144-165Hz IPS with a decently low latency. 4K OLED 240Hz might be the best thing there is IQ wise, but using one is not careless and effortless like running a traditional monitor. You have to keep burn-in at the back of your mind all the time and you have to stop everything and stare at black screen and blinking logo for six minutes EVERY DAY at least once. Does not sound bad? Turn off your monitor, set a timer running, wait for six minutes until you are allowed to turn monitor back on... Also while I admit image quality both at reading text and gaming is good, after hearing all the appraisal all over internet, I have to tone down your expectations. It is good, but IPS 1440p was already good. This is just somewhat better. If I had had a 4K IPS before, I am not sure how much difference I would experience. But this is just my opinion. Peoples perception differs and some might feel very different about this.
@@shianchuu I believe there are two types of cleaning. The short one (six minutes) you are prompted to do every 4-8 hours of use and then there is the major one that you should only perform if there is visible burn-in to fix that and maybe like once a year. This monitor prompts you to pixel cleab every four hours, but I have set prompt to 8 hours. I run screen at 20% brightness, have background set to black, hide taskbar and while using the monitor for non gaming, move software windows every now and then. So far no burn in despite I havent had time for gaming or such for a while and mostly desktop use. I have had this about six months now
A non-OLED review! Sweet! As nice as they look OLEDs are still too expensive and despite the improvements in anti-burn in, still disposable. I tend to expect 10 years from a panel at a minimum, so burn-in is just unacceptable.
Is it possible to get Xiaomi Redmi G Pro 27" display from Aliexpress to AU? Great budget (or mid-range) monitor with 1152 mini-led zones and true 1000 HDR. But too little information about performance and stuff
2nd unit arrived, after having issues with the first. Colour accuracy is worse on this unit (sRGB) in both sRGB mode and sRGB colour space. Poor contrast, 900:1 180hz still has issues, screen randomly going black for no reason, anything 165 and below is fine. (2070 Super and latest Nvidia drivers) Emits coil whine (both units) when the screen goes off, thankfully its not present at standby or when the screen is in use. Overall, disappointing. Doesn't match or better my 5 year old AD27QD.
This is more like it. I appreciate a review of an actual, available, AFFORDABLE display. The high end stuff is cool, I'm sure you enjoy it, but it might was well not exist. Sure, I can afford it, but I'd still never spend over $400 on a

I have the same problem, I bought this monitor and didn't expect this. I have never seen something like this. Is this normal or a production error? Its like whenever you look at anything white, you can see smudges on the screen, especially at the sides. It actually glares more like this than with any of my other monitors, which are also IPS panels. My monitor will be send back tomorrow.
Mine arrived and it has either dead pixels or dust, slap bang in the centre of it. Contrast ratio in sRGB Cal and sRGB colourspace was around 980:1, which seemed poor. Setting the refresh rate to 180hz seemed to cause the display to just randomly go black, 165hz and below seemed fine. It's on its way back, I've ordered another. Hopefully I just had a duff unit!

Might be a niche, people who will pay a premium for good colors and response times, great brightness handling at speed (very low inverse ghosting, great variable overdrive that's set and forget)... While being skeptical of the latest trendy things like HDR or OLED, fancy USB functionality, etc. I suspect the "old guard" who have been keeping their monitor forever want a lower price point and don't mind worse quality in some areas. Maybe they prefer the lower contrast ratios that used to be typical. It can reduce the sense of "eye candy" and tone down hyped art direction to be less distracting. But may consider buying something cheaper to get 1440p+ and/or 120FPS+. But this seems extremely well-executed, and for people who care about the things this was optimized for, it seems like it will fit that niche like a glove. Putting serious competition to the likes of the LG 27GP850. Seems worthy of the price category and then some.
Five years ago, what was considered premium and important was actually worth paying attention to. Now, what’s affordable today was premium back then, and those specs are more than good enough now. So, it’s not really worth spending extra on what’s labeled as premium today.
For me, IPS is still the way to go. OLED burn-in still scares me, and I also use my monitor for productivity which OLED's aren't great at. IPS provides a very happy medium with great color, speed, and multi-case use.
Yea I cannot consider an OLED, as any gaming monitor would also be my work from home display, it’s been painful to be blasted with OLED all day every day from every monitor channel. Hard to justify something that will burn in after three years
they dont burn in anymore lmao have you not seen all the manufacturers do to make sure they dont... if they still had burn in issues there wouldnt be so many videos about them
Doesn't push any sort of boundaries here. For all around better picture a discounted G6/G7 is _still_ the choice at around that price point. That, or a budget miniled.
Great review! Between this and the ASUS XG27AQMR (which you also reviewed), which would you pick? The latter costs $200 more - is that worth it for the higher refresh rate and DisplayHDR 600?
I own the MAG 274QRF QD E2 after swapping from the M27Q-P. It's a much better monitor but would love to see that compared with this as you noted it was better than the original MAG QD but on paper the E2 has better color. Also note that the QD E2 has KVM and 65W PD which this monitor does not have.
I wish we got more 24" 1440p monitors... it's tiring for a competitive gamers to still be stuck at 1080p because that's the only 240hz res available at that format.
I hope we just start seeing more good monitors that aren't OLED. I cannot in good faith get an OLED for myself or recommend them to literally anyone I know because of burn in concerns.
My issue with gaming hardware peripherals is that it's expensive and it has low reliability. I bought an AOC for +$300 and it died a few days after the warranty expired. Before that a +$400 Asus monitor and suddenly died a year after the warranty expired. 😢 At this point I will just buy under-$200 monitors, at least if they die it won't hurt.
Finally, not OLED. Would you guys consider testing out a KTC H27T22S? It's a fast ips 1440p 180hz monitor, commonly found around 160, but often with sales and codes it goes to 120-135, I got it for 120 and it has been great imo. Stand is tilt only, so that would be the only "caveat", though for 120, I'm not complaining.
@@sarpp69 Wait i think you might be on to something, that one is a 240Hz, although it has worse calibration and response times/no single overdrive mode
this seems better than the MSI G274QPX in terms of response times and ghosting but less so in color along with being 180hz only. Do you think the 240hz MSI is better overall?
Finally, the review does not target 1% top end users. OLEDs are great but most of people buy LCD because of PRICE. Please give us more LCD reviews, they are really needed.

@@moldyshishkabob they've been on a lot of recent videos. OLED reviews were fine at first, but it's oversaturated now with OLED.
Thankyou for not reviewing another OLED

@@Kian_Farasat Hi, I just bought it and it does look like that from normal viewing distance (around 60cm). Above 70cm it isn't that noticeable. Also it's only the white backgrounds and in some cases that makes it even more visible, for example when only a portion of the screen is bright (like in the sky or looking into a white light source in a game) everywhere else it looks good and you just notice the white isn't fully homogenous.

Exactly why I went with mini LED for my monitor that I use 90% for work (Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30)
it was quite pricey but had all the cute little features (like hassle free kvm switch, PD, 165 hz uwqhd) which I was looking for. Burn in would be terrible with all the Excel bullshit I'm dealing with daily!
It’s not “out of the question” stop acting like you’re instantly going to get burn in, all those things you said are perfect for OLED

i just got this monitor. a few days ago and first thing first its really awesome.
Something I have to say and this is purely my opinion:
After reading countless reviews and hearing tons of appraising comments from all around the interwebs how they are at another level and seeing games is like looking at things through a window or whatever, I updated an average 27" 1440p IPS to a state of the art appraised 32" 4K OLED.
You don't need to do the pixel clean everyday at all. Two years with a C2, only did it once I think, 0 burn-in.
I wish the premium OLED used a minimal or preferably zero RGB design.

Just bought this monitor and it has a terrible anti glare coating that looks like there is oil smeared on the screen when the background is white, returned it a day after
The screen fucking looks like sparkles. Man, I can't get past seeing the anti-glare coating unless I put the monitor really far from me.
Do you have ips glow or backlight bleeding ? Mine is kinda hurting my eyes when I'm playing in the dark/dark games ;( There is a fix ?
I have the same problem, I bought this monitor and didn't expect this. I have never seen something like this. Is this normal or a production error? Its like whenever you look at anything white, you can see smudges on the screen, especially at the sides. It actually glares more like this than with any of my other monitors, which are also IPS panels. My monitor will be send back tomorrow.
@@danielvonankh I got used to this. It s a great monitor.
@@benderrobo7864 yeah same for me just return it, the coating looks like shit
Would be nice if you guys got your hands on an MSI G272QPF, it released a year ago and there are still no good reviews on it
Mine arrived and it has either dead pixels or dust, slap bang in the centre of it.
Has your new monitor arrived? how's the second one?
hi man i want to get it but some reviews are mentioning harsh grainy matte coating on the display. is the matte coating on this display good? is it a little grainy/fuzzy on white or light colors? a weird kind of "sheen" or "grain" on the whole screen that is mainly only visible on white or mostly white screens, like on TH-cam, or after opening a new tab. It's sort of hard to explain. It looks like there's a thin film of Vaseline on the screen, causing it to look smudgy. does it look like that for you?
The monitor market is really stepping up
Five years ago, what was considered premium and important was actually worth paying attention to.
No oled. Anyone, please check the thermometer in hell!
Thanks for targeting a product outside high-end oleds 🙌🏼
Is there any chance you could review the ultra budget brands like Pixio, Koorui, HKC and the like?
That monitor looks beautiful which i cant say the same for many others.
Yea I cannot consider an OLED, as any gaming monitor would also be my work from home display, it’s been painful to be blasted with OLED all day every day from every monitor channel. Hard to justify something that will burn in after three years
they dont burn in anymore lmao have you not seen all the manufacturers do to make sure they dont... if they still had burn in issues there wouldnt be so many videos about them
only ppl having burn in issues after 3yrs are ppl who cant follow directions lmao
@@Lylcaruis Subpixel structure still sucks for text though
Doesn't push any sort of boundaries here. For all around better picture a discounted G6/G7 is _still_ the choice at around that price point. That, or a budget miniled.
Great review! Between this and the ASUS XG27AQMR (which you also reviewed), which would you pick? The latter costs $200 more - is that worth it for the higher refresh rate and DisplayHDR 600?
Now I am debating between this and the MSI G274QPX
Which is the best?
if you want 240 get the MSI
VG27AQ3A/L3A are TUF division and with same specs, they should be a much greater value in most countries.
The Samsung Odyssey G5 S27DG50, MSI MAG 274QRF QD E2 and Gigabyte M27QA are direct competitors to this.
i just ordered this monitor, cant wait for it to arive :))))
Please review and compare this Asus XG27ACS to a newer version that recently came out, the Asus XG27ACG!
Tim, pls compare it to MSI MAG 274QRF-QD E2
As an OLED monitor user, I’m glad to see an LCD monitor review. Most people use LCDs.
*Do the same review on MSI MAG 274QRF-QD E2.*
Please.
I wish we got more 24" 1440p monitors... it's tiring for a competitive gamers to still be stuck at 1080p because that's the only 240hz res available at that format.
Thanks for another budget review. Oled monitors are just good to know about, but budget wise not ideal for 99 percent of people.
240hz and qd style and I'd pick this up right now, its close oh so close.
nice review and nice montior by asus. Love the competition in this price bracket
I hope we just start seeing more good monitors that aren't OLED. I cannot in good faith get an OLED for myself or recommend them to literally anyone I know because of burn in concerns.
Each time I see that Cincinnati skyline, it reminds me that I don't want to live there again. Nice photo, though.
This one is $199 on Amazon prime day!
>ROG STRIX
>bang for buck
Non overpriced ROG product, are my eyes deceiving me?
haven't watched the video yet, but is it not overpriced? It is almost the same price as LG 27GR83Q in my region.
It's strix after all. Still, Skyworth F27G4Q with the same spec as this one been selling in my country for us$140-160 with warranty
probably an asus mistake. they must have missed a 0 in the end of the price tag
@@rzkrdn8650 looks like a cool monitor. sadly we only have their 50 inch tv here
@@sarpp69 Wait i think you might be on to something, that one is a 240Hz, although it has worse calibration and response times/no single overdrive mode
this seems better than the MSI G274QPX in terms of response times and ghosting but less so in color along with being 180hz only. Do you think the 240hz MSI is better overall?
if you need faster refresh rate than yes. if you have a powerful GPU that can push 240, why gimp your monitor at 180?
Please tell me which will be better for games, this monitor or the MSI Gaming G274QPX. Thanks in advance
Could you review the 32 inch Samsung odyssey g6, it’s got a VA panel with 240hz refresh rate
console gamers, if you are reading this, get this monitor, it has VRR 😮💨
