Yes they did. I think he was a very realistic character especially from what I've seen a lot of men similar to him. I like this show because it isn't all rosey flowers it shows how imperfect and human the characters are.
Need to give credit to Chris Noth for playing the part brilliantly as well. Hard to top his performance that combined arrogance with insecurity, seduction with aloofness, intellect with cluelessness.
Main reason why straight males, like myself, were drawn to this show was the writing. Really top notch stuff in regards to getting all the nuances of the characters right. And the actors did a great job too. Of course, they fucked everything up in the movies
Even though Big was shitty with committed relationships, I always loved his personality. I love that he was a highly successful businessman and respected in the corporate world, but in his private life, he had a great sense of humor, was always able to laugh at himself, never took things too seriously, and was able to just be crude and real.
I often think you need to be "crude and real" like Big to be successful at work. There is a reason why the good "empathetic" guys won't get it too far up in the corporate ladder.
The way Carrie smiles when Big arrives is why she couldn't have ended up with anyone else. Despite how deeply flawed he was. She didn't love any other man that much.

This scene in italian restaurant is my ultimate FAVOURITE when it comes to Carrie and Big. They were so happy, the place and people looked nice as she said "it was perfect, I felt like I was in heaven", so I felt the same watching it.

He knows the tricks on how to fish a woman, the big gestures, cooking etc but he doesn't have the Patience to maintain a woman, specially the kind of women who are looking for guys like him (big gestures, big money, good figure). I don't think Carrie would end up with a not-rich guy. Emigrating is not easy, if they stayed in New York I think the Carrie-Petrovsky would have worked. Aidan never.

I was with my own version of Mr Big and can absolutely relate. the way she looks at him makes it clear how much she idolizes him like he is some sort of god. Or maybe also like a child looking up to his dad (classic daddy issues)

Stop discrediting Mr. Big's character. From the beginning he was not too romantic, he didn't start filling Carrie with flowers or love cards, and she knew it. It was she from the beginning who wanted to impose a different character on him, he was not that type of man and despite his efforts he was not quite successful. But what he did for her to the last is proof that a man can really change for love, I'm sorry he died as they finally found peace in the relationship. 💔
I have always hated smoking. It's so nasty. This episode is one of my favorites. Singing to Carrie, & his gf. So sweet & funny. One can see how much Carrie loves him in her eyes! Mr. BIG sure knows how to sweep her off her feet! His death in the revival show caught me off guard & so heartbreaking!!!! Still crying. I like to think that after getting married they both had years of happiness finally. I never thought either one wanted children, Carrie was a career woman, & too self involved. I don't remember Big ever talking about children. I always rooted for the both of them to be a couple. Sure both had flaws, looked compatible. They had a pull me/ push me type of relationship. That doesn't make sense. Carrie considers her friends her family, and at some point you introduce your special person to your family so that they can validate this person who might become a bigger part of your life. It makes total sense to want him to get along with them.
Money seems to be why Carrie is obsessed with him, cause she seems to be not compatible with him in to many ways
