The choice is ultimately yours of course but this is just my opinion on it for my application. It adjusts the sensitivity of your pedal and makes your vehicle's pedal more responsive and increases the sensitivity.
From someone that has over 5 grand of upgrades on my truck, yes.. the $300 pedal commander is a hell of an upgrade. It made the BIGGEST difference of all my upgrades

Totally worth it to me! I've only had my truck for 1 month now, and don't have the funds for all the mods like cold air intake, throttle body, tuner, exhaust, etc. So the pedal commander for me is super fun and worth the money. More hp? No. Insane throttle response? Yes! I actually got the pedal commander before I discovered your channel. Love your channel btw. Keep the vids coming!

This is actually not true - not looking to start shit but the pedal commander & tuner is completely different. The tuner pedal sensitive doesn't even come close to sport+ on the pedal commander. This is coming from a guy with a Greene tune who maximizes throttle response & dyno tune
You are running a Diablosport tuner. You are much more limited than the adjustments available with HP Tuners...
Give one a try at some point - you will see.
Completely worth it! If i had extra money i would buy you one so you could experience the difference. The 20% boost is nothing compared to even the smallest setting on the pedal commander! I also have the diablosport i2. You need to put the boost down to 0% to use the pedal commander. It doesnt add hp but sure does feel like it😀 you will not regret it if you got it!!!
I agree. I have the T2 and the pedal commander and the 20% doesn't compare to the settings on the pedal commander. I love them both. I got Hemifever to include the pedal commander into my custom tune along with my other mods. I wouldn't trade either one. They both are great. I drive on sport plus 4 all the time. I got a hemi for fun and I have it. I didn't get a hemi to save gas. Mo power baby!

Yeah it definitely does exactly what it advertises! Just some people make it seem like their truck is faster with it lol.

It does exactly as advertised and works well......with settings to customize to your needs.
Besides the PC doesn't void the warranty.......a tune will surely void any and all power-train related warranty coverage on a new vehicle.

I have the PC on my 2017 Ram, and it’s one of the best mods I’ve ever done to anything I’ve owned. It doesn’t make anymore power, but it makes the drivability so much better. When I turn it off, the best way to explain it would be that the truck feels “dead” and a lot heavier. I just did the pcm swap along with the i3 tuner. Didn’t have much time to play with the settings on it yet, but got the 91 octane easy tune installed. Gonna try and load the advanced tune with throttle boost at 20% to compare throttle response with the PC.
Let us know how you like it compared to the adjustments in DiabloSport. I agree the truck feels dead stock but I'm more than happy with the 20% gain and my bored out TB combined.
Okay, so I got a tune installed the other day and put the 20% throttle booster on the tune. No comparison between the throttle booster option and the Pedal Commander. The lowest setting on the Pedal Commander is about the same as the 20% throttle boost. Wasn’t really impressed so I took the throttle boost off of the tune and am just going to use the PC. It’s nice being able to change settings on the fly and it’s a lot more fun to drive over just the 20% throttle boost.
Great video with lots of info. I’m saving up for the tuner. If I’m going to spend the money I want to get some extra hp out of it along with the throttle response.

I had both the Diablo Sport tuner and the Pedal Commander. The Pedal Commander gives you much more flexibility over the throttle sensitivity.

Depends as long as they work their awesome had mine for a little over 2 years NOW it's gone started causing shifting and acceleration problems with check engine light coming on as SOON AS I REMOVED PC they all went away!! cost me about $150 a year for better acceleration!
Besides this pedal commander is there anything else that can help with the delay when I step on the gas pedal, and the actual response, and would it be better just to dyno tune my ram 2014 1500... what's the best option
Pedal commander doesn’t void your warranty. Tuners do
Wrong if the factory notices that you cutt into your sensor and they see the pedal commander it 100% voids your warranty ...... Messing with your fuel to air ratio and throttle response additions (other than a throttle body...air intake) will void the warranty with alot of campanies...... Sometimes you can get lucky but when i took my truck in they hit me hard with the voided warranty when they saw my pedal commander
Darshy youre wrong and so is your dealer because the pedal commander doesnt alter anything but the signal its seeing from the gas pedal. The ecu isnt being altered in any way.

If you took them to court cause your motor blew up they would have to prove the pedal commander was at fault which they never would because it doesnt alter the ecu bud guy

Just installed the Pedal Commander and really does make a difference in how responsive the truck is. It's a 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. I want the Tuner as well for turning off MDS, adjusting Tire sizes and cooling fan control, but I like the idea of being able to change the throttle response settings quickly and even using my mobile app. Also, www.zautotech.com is coming out with a Tazer Ram soon, which will let you do some cool stuff including line lock, ability to add front and cargo cams, light shows, nqv in motion etc.. have a Tazer on my Charger and live it for the extra functions.

They Go bad and flag your computer. I replaced the throttle body until next, i was going to replace the
accelerator pedal sensor. Tech told me these things do usually go out. Told me to disconnect the Pedal
Commander and see what happens. I did, and the Pedal Comm was the problem. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

The bad thing about turners is they definitely void your warranty pedal commander will not it’s a plug and play try one man you won’t regret it I just bought mine and I should of done a video of us me my buddy’s and I were shocked

Headers arent going to make as big of a difference in your displacement as a tune will plus throttle body this guy is doing it right 100% .....pedal cammanders are cool and you will notice a difference but its more for an adition to trucks with aftermarket parts on it already.........

I would look into HP tuners instead to be honest. They have 8 speed transmission tuning already working for 2014 trucks where as DiabloSport does not.
Does the i2 turn off MDS as well? Thinking of getting that or the Predator 2. What’s your thoughts on this.
Yeah you can turn off MDS if you want with this. Predator is old technology. Get at least the i2
What trim is your truck? I've got an i3 and I own a '14 ram 2500 Big Horn and for some reason the only parameters I can alter are traction control on/off and tire size (which doesn't actually even work)
Hey James try updating your tuner. Every few month DiabloSport releases updates for these that unlock more features. You just need to download their program called ignition and plug the handheld into your computer with a usb and let it do its thing.
Boosted2k I have been updating via Wi-Fi in my truck before plugging it in. Don't know if using the computer would be different but I will try it. I need to just try customer service but, I work when they are open (eastern time and I'm central time)

Yeah it should be able to adjust the shift points on your 6spd but would be worth a call to them to double check! 👍

Hey Bro first off love all your vids very useful and very informative. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 4wd and I have a few mods, Mopar CAI and ram air functional hood scoop,Pedal commander, Borla cat back exhaust and the Edge PULSAR which is inline computer that that connects directly to the pcm and it has 8 different performance levels that you can change on the fly using the cruse control + and - buttons on the steering wheel. I got the Pulsar because Diablo hasn’t unlocked the PCM on the 2018 ram yet so I’m just waiting on that. The pedal commander is amazing! I couldn’t believe what a difference it made and you can adjust it to your liking. It doesn’t make any horsepower but it gives you instant throttle response! I have raced motocross all my life and the best way to describe the pedal commander is to compare the stock truck to a old 450 4stroke with a carburetor and the annoying bog you would get if the accelerator pump wasn’t adjusted right,and the pedal commander is the current 450 4stroke with fuel injection that is amazing with no change of any bog whatsoever. You should definitely try to borrow a pedal commander and try it for yourself because I think you might surprised on how good it works and how fun it is to mess around with. And I called Edge performance to find out if the pedal commander was compatible with the PULSAR and they informed me that it was. And hurry up and get a pro charger already! I want to see how good it works because as soon as they unlock the PCM for my 2018 I’m getting the DiabloSport tuner and then either the pro charger or a Whipple Supercharger. Awesome vids Bro keep them coming!
Yeah I agree the stock pedal calibration is super lazy! Hopefully I get a pro charger soon! Also have my eye on a 2008 Z06 for a decent price right now too though 😁

Jason Nystrom No it does not. I have both on my 2013 ram 1500 and they compliment each other very well. No problems here. Just make sure to disconnect the pedal commander before you do a tune to be on the safe side.
James is right you can have both! Just my personal preference is with my throttle body and diablosport cranked to 20% I'm happy with the outcome. If you want more you can always add the commander or get a custom tune

Hi John, I have a '17 Ram QC and I love your vids, just recently subscribed. What do you know about the Jet Performance chips that plug between the PCM and the harness? Those are on ebay for about $250. What is your opinion on those?
I have a 17 Ram Hemi and bought the Jet Performance Stage 2 for it. Honestly its not worth the money. I traded it for a pedal commander and it feels like a whole new truck with the commander on it. Throttle response is so fast it feels like its tuned.
Yeah don't waste your money on those JET chips Clifford they are a bit of a scam. You'll need to get an actual programmer to see performance gains from a tune.

Has the transmission tune come out yet for the 14? where do you find info like this?
I updated my tuner last week and now when I connect it to the truck it says it can tune the transmission but it fails right at the end of the writing process. Update yours and let me know if it works for you!

ok, no updates to be found on my tuner DCX, although i updated about a month ago, also did call diablosport and they do have a tune for the transmission on the ram but it would only work if you have the latest tuners such as the trinity, as they stopped supporting older versions, not sure if the guy was trying to up sale me or what but he was a dick! mind you did wait on the phone for almost two hours!

Do you tow with it at all? Notice any benefits if you do? I have a 27ft camper and a 19ft boat I pull a lot during the summer

I have the same programmer as you it’s a 2011 and my trucks throttle is not sensitive at all it still has a lag 😒

Yeah they are still working on the 18. I wish they would finish the damn 13/14 transmission woes. HP Tuners has had transmission tuning available for years on 2013/2014. Maybe I'll make a video on how to properly smash a DiabloSport tuner 😂

People who like the pedal commander or any of the other clones have no idea how a throttle by wire system works. When you press down on the gas pedal your ecu sees the signal then sends your throttle body instructions on how far to open. The pedal commander attaches to the gas pedal and alters the signal that goes from the gas pedal to the ecu.
The problem people are trying to fix with the device is the so called lag they feel when they press their gas pedal down and when the car actually starts moving. For some reason people think that the signal going from the gas pedal takes a long time to travel to the ecu and that is why they have a delay. The signal actually reaches the ecu instantly and the signal going from the ecu to the throttle body is instant as well. So why is there a delay? Because the automotive makers built it into the software. Its called torque management. If you slam your foot down to the floor what happens is the ecu says, nope, and gradually opens the throttle body not giving it full power right away because it doesnt want you to spin the tires and lose control of the car. Pretty much every modern car does this.
So what does the pedal commander do? It lies to the ecu as to how far youre pressing the gas pedal. So if you press it 30 percent the ecu may see 50. So by the time youre at 70 to 80 to 90 percent the ecu is seeing 100 percent full throttle making it feel like the car is accelerating faster. The problem with this is that now the pedal resolution has been greatly lowered making it more light switch like and the 1 to 1 throttle pedal to output ratio has been thrown out which makes it feel less like the old throttle by cable systems which were 1 to 1 ratios. No matter what setting you have on the pedal commander the ecu will still slow down the rate at which your throttle opens since this product installs before the ecu signal and not after and torque management is still there.
My opinion is that this product and all its clones are snake oil. These companies prey on people who dont understand how a modern throttle by wire system works. It doesnt get rid of any lag because there is none to get rid of. It will do nothing to how fast your car accelerates to sixty. Dont waste your money on this huge rip off. To get rid of that delay you have to get a tune which will remove torque management. Also, a tune can alter your throttle to output ratio to whatever your want making the pedal commander totally useless. Yes if you have both a tune and a pedal commander at the same time you have literally just flushed 300 bucks down the drain. This pedal commander is worth 30 bucks at most. My RC radio controller can do this exact same thing except I get to totally customize what my throttle does with a visual graph and lcd display plus I have atleast 20 more functions and its wireless all for 40 bucks. So please dont waste your money on this garbage product.

....and that is exactly what the Pedal Commander does.
It removes the delay that happens by not having to push the pedal down 50% to start moving the vehicle. No snake oil, it does as advertised......nobody says it improves 0-60 acceleration except you.

Exactly. This product is useless. Just bought it today. And I'm immediately sending it back after using it for 15 mins. Just makes the truck jumpy off the line and as soon as it gets going it's no different than if you didnt have it
I'm at 2014 Ram 1500 Sport does the tuner deactivate the traction control in the front by which means this winter I tried drifting around with the traction control off but the front keeps kicking in and brakes is there any way to deactivate that
That is part of the stability management, not traction control. I have a custom tune on my Diablo that has the stability management fully disabled however your ABS and Traction light will be on at all times. If you want to just have fun from time to time, pull your ABS fuse and send it. Then when you are done, plug it back in, restart the truck and everything is back to normal
Hey Cody there is an option to fully disable traction control in the modify parameters section that I'm going to test out and I'll make a video on it to see how it works.
It’s not worth it! I have both a tune and pedal commander. I bought the P/C first because I couldn’t afford the pcm and tuner from diablo. Now I did the pcm swap with intune i3 for 499 it’s the same thing almost. P/C would throw codes on me sometimes. Def get the tuner and custom tune, the canned tunes from diablo suck. With full basic bolt ons on the 8spd and track prep guys are hitting 12’s.

I mean I don't have anything against them but it does NOT make your truck any faster it just makes it "feel" faster by giving you a more sensitive pedal. Also I already make my pedal plenty sensitive with the DIabloSport and bored TB so for me I don't need it personally.
BoostedMotorsports actually not true. There are 0-60 times on youtube with our rams that show gains. Does it increase horse power...no! Will my truck beat other trucks off the line without a pedal commander....yes! Its just too much fun not to get it😀

For a tuner on your 2018 you would need to purchase an unlocked PCM but you can get one of these pedal commanders no problem!
No its not worth the money and your right buy a tuner don't need one. Can get a tuner for a little more than a Pedal Commander.

Pepitao Poggio you have to go to advanced tune, tune select, pick the same tune you have and then click modify parameters. It’s a little tricky

You're either in the wrong menu or need to update your tuner. Every few months DiabloSport releases free updates to these unlocking new features. You just need to download the ignition program and plug the unit into your computer and let it do its thing

not worth it at all.I have one on my 2014. It does NOT take away lag. It does however increase throttle faster per how much you push on the pedal. If you increase voltage all it does is make it harder to take off without jerking you. It hits all at one time and there is lag rather than linear. Edit...you cant get a true cable feel from these trucks like in my 04 Cobra. You just cant. The computer has lag when pedal is pushed. It does not increase throttle response. Only how much opening is given as you push the pedal. The lag will always be there.
