    Matt, your insight and attention to detail are what make your videos just tremendous. Please keep these 101 videos coming, no other channel has made anything even close to the level of quality and engagement that you so consistently provide. Keep it up, and thanks for not selling out, you are the reason people are watching.

    This is good timing as I have been absent from airgunning for many year. I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel- subscribed immediately. You make high quality and very informative videos. By the way, the South African landscape is stunning. Looking forward to the series. Regards from the States.

    Matt, from a new fan, this is truly one of the best channels on air-gun pest control. Love the shots, the narrative, and your explanations. Your overall approach to the topic here, ballistics of airguns and their projectiles, struck me as properly organized and efficiently presented. I teach Science for a living, so I can recognize a well-researched and organized 'lesson', or even a whole curriculum, when I see one. I'm going to DL all the vids of this topic-series for my own education. I'm new to air-gunning (on a serious level, disregarding the BB pistol I had as a kid, and also the .22 rifle training I received through the Boy Scouts (back when they were a serious organization). I have a new Snow Wolf specifically for pest (pigeons) control, which have recently inundated my house. Learning about shot placement, and the behavior of the various types of air-rifles and the different projectiles, is important to me. Just keep doing what you're dong, and I'm sure you'll gain more and more fans/subscribers.
    BTW, Your somewhat dead-pan comment about the pigeons humping the dead bird on that wall cracked me up. Great job! Keep it up!

    Looking forward to it! The external ballistics remembered me your review and tune of the HW100 .177 cal and the best video I've ever seen of a pellet tumbling in flight! That was crazy! Congratulations from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!

    A+++++++++++++++++ series. I learned so much. the conclusion I've come to from this playlist is you might as well get either the cheapest air rifle or one of the best PCP air rifles. because you can get really good PCP air rifles for in the $300-$400 range as opposed to spending $100 or $200 for a high-end spring or pump-action or you could spend $50 or less for typical pump or spring action. so it seems like maybe spend roughly $10-$100 on a cheap one or be willing to spend 300+ on the ultimate setup, because it seems like the impression I'm getting is that if you're going to be spending close to the amount or the same as a PCP air rifle but it's not a PCP air rifle then you're probably wasting money.
    I know that's where did repetitive and poorly. Basically if you're going to be spending $300 or more with the intention of improving accuracy and FPS then if PCP air rifle is really what you're trying to get. If you're not trying to get the most accurate long-range air rifle then it's more logical just to get a really cheap non PCP air rifle.
    Also you could start with a really cheap non PCP air rifle and save money so that if in the future you decide to go with a PCP air rifle then you won't have invested over $100 which could be half the cost of the more accurate long-range PCP air rifle.
    for me if I spent $150 to $250 on a non PCP air rifle, it would be very difficult for me to justify spending $350 on a PCP air rifle later.
    I was really lost and confused about what to get in this video series has given me the exact conclusion that I was looking for.

    Matt - I'm really looking forward to this series. Thanks for all of the hard work. I hope you will be getting into pellets (sorting, etc.) because I suspect that with a rifle like the FX Impact, pellets will be the limiting factor as far as accuracy and distance.

    • @AirArmsHuntingSA
      @AirArmsHuntingSA  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jere Moore I've found that the Smooth Twist barrels aren't pellet fussy at all. They seem to be able to handle a variety of head diameters. I think the biggest limiting factor is the shooter himself!

    Nice looking forward to it. I hope you touch up on smooth twist vs rifled (cz barrel or lothar) I always hear people saying that Fx barrel are sub par compared to rifled barrel. Some people claim that it's only accurate out to 100-120 yards but beyond that they loose stability. One other thing is that how can a cz barrel shoot a pellets up to 1000-1070 fps+ without instability in .25 caliber. Thanks

    • @AirArmsHuntingSA
      @AirArmsHuntingSA  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sactown airgunner I'll definitely look at rifled barrels vs smooth twist. Interesting you say that, because I've found that its the other way round - Pellets out of rifled barrels seem to lose stability at longer ranges while pellets out of smooth twist barrels seem to perform better at 50m+

    I wonder if you ever use a compensation mount to get more out of your scope? I've started using these and it makes it possible to zero the gun very close and yet retain enough minutes or mils to still use the reticle at extreme distance. 200 yards or so in some cases

    Hope there is basic info on preparing pellets.
    Washing, lubing and sorting by weight.
    Apart from finding out that all pellet batches are different as the manufacture is very inconsistant.
    Skirt diameters vary so much that you never know what is best on the day may be bad the next.
