The drought in my part of the world is extremely bad and it is threatening to bankrupt some of the farms I hunt on, including Witmoskloof where I filmed The Oxwagon Diaries. I think we need to band together and help contribute towards feed & water costs so that we can keep the animals alive until the drought is over. As hunters and outdoorsmen, it is our duty to help with conservation - Something that PETA will never do.
I'll post some details later when I have a plan of action. If everybody gave just $1, we'd have enough to save hundreds of animals from starvation.

Could you pls move a bit toward some of the guns that are lower on the budget scales with the Hybrids testing. I know You don't like'em (those guns) that much but lots of us don't have any choice but pick the budget-friendly PCP airguns. I'm talking about those of mid-range pricing like FX Dreamline, Air Arms 510 Xtra FAC, Brocock Bantam, Weihrauch HM100 FAC, Hatsan Galatian, BSA R10 FAC and many, many others around $1000+. Please consider it, I sure the airguners community would be more than pleased with such stuff on your channel.
This is by far the best video for first time FX Impact MK II owners using .22 slugs ! Adjusted mine to 948 FPS with a 10 shot group with a dev. of 5 FPS , my groups at 40 yards are excellent , I would recommend doing a little cleaning of the slag on these pellets before your shot them , if you empty all 100 packed pellets on a dark cloth napkin you will see what I mean .
Man I'm pretty new to the channel but you have me completely intrigued by all of this. I'm astounded at your accuracy and your knowledge about this sport. It's got me wanting a pellet gun baddd. Great videos and keep at it!

These hybrids slugs are another genius move by FX! It's clear that after a year or even two years of you shooting FX slugs, the other competitive companies such as Daystate etc. Are not going to spend the money or take the time to make a slug barrel. Perhaps it's too expensive perhapsit's too expensive, perhaps they sell the majority of their rifles with in England and places that do not allow full power air rifles, who knows, but I think that these hybrid slugs will sell like hotcakes!
Those hybrid slugs been around long before FX...the guy that Owns the Paton, is the owner of Ratsniperslugs..he teamed up with FX because fx has a good Distribution network...it was a business move that will Benefit him greatly...
Can’t help but to think of what may happen if politicians get a wind of these considering they look more like traditional bullets.

I really like those hybrid slugs, they seem to pack quite a punch. As usual Matt, your skills and that of your Air hunters partners, are really impressive. Having skills like you guys, I am sure, helps a lot, when hunting. And yes, you can put me down to a few of those shirts you wore. I like it a lot. If you are offering several color options, my preference would be black and red.

great slugs, but I wonder while you were at FX was there ever a conversation as to why nobody makes slugs in .177 ?
Probably it's because they are to tiny and the guns are low on power to Hunt.
I have some nsa .177 slugs that I tried out of my gamo dynamax. They don't fly straight with my gun..
@@CatCustom low on power to hunt, are you kidding Coen, my FACs say otherwise tramming over 1100 fps with 10.5s and delivering 30 ftlb, the penetration is phenomenal and with hollows its devastating. the slugs would only give me more range and that's the interesting bit.

Maybe i typed it different than what i mean. Many hunt with .177 also in sub 12. But when talking about slugs, you go fac.
When go full power, sky is the limit in my country. So why chose a .177 when a bigger caliber has more power..

Matt; the "heavy flywheel rim effect" of these very hollow hybrid slugs is easy enough to understand. If your viewers need any further help understanding how this affects long range stability, consider the 7.92 x 40 CETME. Naturally the FX Hybrids shoot well out of my Impact. These also shoot really, really well out of my Benjamin Discovery. I didn't think that the Discovery had rifling, but the Hybrids don't tumble. They punch perfect wadcutter type holes in paper, but with the wimpy Discovery, they don't expand much. I mention it because these aren't just for Impacts. They do great in other guns too!
Matt, thank you for what you do for the progression of the air gun industry and air gun hunting. Your commitment and enthusiasm to the science behind our guns and ammunition is quite amazing. The quality of the videos you produce is impressive... succinct, well edited, down to Earth communication and a dose of humor peppered in (the multi-colored "Starling" eggs) makes for an enjoyable watch. What a beautiful landscape!
Its hard to believe how much things have moved on as hybrid slugs like these were only the stuff of dreams when i started airgun hunting but after recently watching a hooded crow fly on with a well placed shot and pass through using an 18gr JSB (which are VERY accurate in my Crown) Hybrid slugs like these in my standard pellet liner might be just the ticket.

I saw tapping magazine on 15:13 mins (magazine rotating jam). Best way to fixed is, deassemble the mag and with 120 sand paper roll it like the size of ballpen... Then rub it around 3 to 4 strokes spiral /circling the centre of pellet trey (the two small springs & two balls holder) that will fixed the problem no jam in the future.🤘

So from a target point of view.. keeping that dome shape, but open up the slug more from the behind of it.. would it keep its BC value and become a better long range target pellet? Or is there a benefit to the hollow point??

Great Video man! Just quickly the center of mass wont change if the mass is uniformly distributed to the walls its the moment of inertia that changes.
Equation Iz = 0.5*mass*(external_radius^2+internal_radius^2) then the rotational energy E = 0.5*Iz*Angular_velocity^2

I am Also a Hunter . I like Your Videos . I am From Bangladesh .
These are the way forward for the normal shooter. With no need for specialist barrels it opens the market up to all not just those who have the time to tune and can afford the high end rifles but to any owner, whether target or pets controlling. The question I have and would love to see tested is if they will work with the restricted rifles (12ftlb) and if that gives enough energy for expansion, hades just won't expand at that power. My calculations for 12ftlb are velocity and energy based so i have no idea if expansion at this level will happen. If they can work at these low velocities accurately they will extend the 12ftlb rifles to a safe kill (6-8ftlb) comfortably out to 100m if they can remain stable and better still expand. Please dig out an old low power gun and give it a try or send Giles some to play with.

I used them in my pr900w was surprised at the grouping I was getting at 50 meters with a low velocity
I´ve got a classic Fx Cutlas from 2006 and got some packs of Hybrids here in Sweden. It will be interesting how it works ;)
