    This is really nice. It would be cool to see Corinne start a channel about non-toxic living.

    She's beautiful. And inspirational. It sucks that you have all those allergies, Corinne, but you've proven that tiny houses can work for anybody!

    She has created her own "Bubble" to live in. Sad a person is so sensitive, but I'm really glad she has found a way to live in her house and be happy and healthy.

    That looks like a livable size tiny house. If you want to reduce the EMF radiation, put up stainless steel sheet metal to create a faraday cage around the breaker box, use metal conduit run to the cables to the outlets. The main item needed is an indoor/outdoor air exchanger, using the exhaust air to cool / heat the incoming fresh air, reducing the concentration of VOC's.

      Duane C Good suggestions. Shielding in different forms can reduce it for sure.

    Although it's quite expensive, it's encouraging to know that an entire house can be built VOC-free! How long have you lived in your tiny house now Corinne? Is it still mould-free? Does having electric heating/cooling help eliminate the moisture since electricity is so dry?

    To add to the insulating R value, may I recommend super therm ceramic paint on the outside? I know they use it on space shuttles and steel container houses to add insulation without compromising indoor square footage.

    I too have allergies to so many things, I have been in the process of building my tiny house, in a non toxic way. I am looking for wall options, and I am wondering if the magnesium oxide board is a choice Corinne would make again Or are their other alternatives, other than wood which is lovely, but I am not sure I would like all the walls covered in wood. Thanks, great video!

      Lucy L. Hi, yes I would use MgO again - it is the best non-toxic option. You could also test Dens Armour plus.

    hi
    beautiful and the house is too!
    my ex and I lived in a 56th in the Vancouver are in the mid 90s.i have never been happier and am planning a tiny house now here in Sask.
    I have built rvs before and had all the wholesale suppliers.in the mid 90s it would have cost me 24.000 to build the 34 ft 5th wheel that I bought in perfect condition for 28.000.
    the money you spent Corinne is well spent.(the builder worked hard for it and he sure deserves a living too!)
    I was in ill health from exhaustion for years out there (a great debt slave) but am in excellent condition now.most people likely have no idea what good health is since everyone is exposed to innumerable toxins daily.it is wonderful that your health is improving.
    now you need a garden full of whole foods.haha
    God bless
    doug

    She mentioned that she moved from Toronto to here. Can I assume that she's still in Canada and that the prices mentioned are Canadian? I live in Ontario and am waiting to building until I find a legal place to live. I love how she mentioned the pros and cons and what she would do differently the next time around. I find those very helpful to us future tiny house dwellers!

    I just wanted to ask you guys if you would pretty please show HOW to frame a loft in a tiny house. You guys are so great at taking detailed videos and I can't find a video ANYWHERE of how to frame a loft. Please please please! This would help so much. Thank you!

    • @tinynestproject
      @tinynestproject  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stevie Thrasher Ah, we sort-of brushed over that in our building series. Corinne's loft is quite a bit different in that it doesn't span the whole width of the house. If you watch our episode 11, you can get a sense of how our framing sits on jack studs along side the regular wall studs... this is just how we went about it though, there are a few options.

    • @steviethrasher1715

    Cool!, Wow, that's really cool! I thought the whole idea of the design was cool. It's really cool how cool it is. Cool too, that there's so much that's cool here. Like it's really cool that it's cool. And it's cool that it's cool too. That's cool. Plus just how cool it is, is really cool. Cool too that the outside is cool. Like, just the inside isn't just cool, the outside is cool too. That's really cool. Plus it's cool that it's cool. Really.

      Galena Blooms Farm It appears that you have taken time to write an excessively elaborate comment that serves nothing but to point out Kiva's overuse of the word "cool"... Since we're new to making this type of video, we only noticed it once we started cutting the clips together. We didn't think it was worth much criticism... you proved us wrong.

    • @mr_seth
      @mr_seth 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tiny Nest Well, it was so unnoticeable to me, that I didn't pick up on what this comment was referring to until you pointed it out. You guys are going to such lengths to share your build and tours with us, and nobody is perfect. If I had this kind of criticism, I would try to send it in a personal message, but that's me :-)

      Tiny Nest Everyone has word murmurs (words we use repeatedly to fill space) and it takes a lot of public speaking training and practice to notice and control them. (Which you are getting) You are doing an awesome thing, you are putting yourself out there, growing, taking risks, and putting yourself into the public eye. Don't worry about the "haters," they likely peaked in high school and are not doing anything with their life which is why they have time for negativity. They certainly are not doing anything big enough with life that they are in the public eye. Power on with making your dreams a reality.

    Something I've been wondering with a tiny house and its something that was brought up during this video is how do you get internet? What do you guys plan on doing about getting internet to your tiny home?

    • @tinynestproject
      @tinynestproject  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      flamie13371 Maybe Corinne can answer how hers is run (I imagine a coax cable run from the house). The Tiny Nest is going to have the same thing with a coax cable split off of the house to supply our modem. Will be a pretty simple setup.

    • @corinnecarmen
      @corinnecarmen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      flamie13371 The internet company had no problem running a coax cable from the main house which is a ways away from me. This was free of charge.

      +Tiny Nest My apologies. You're right. I was in a bad mood. R we friends again? Overall the entire movement of tiny living has captured mine and so many others interest. The scaling down aspects, once fearfully scary, now the smarter solution. For many of your older viewers like myself born in the 60's , have been brought socially thinking to scale upwards. The one job for life, smaller home to bigger, 1 to 2 cars. It was a sign you worked hard opposed to a sign of wealth like to today. It was also the socially forward thinking of the time. Now that generation and the many previous ones have proven the planet can be harmed with such reckless behaviour. Tiny living much like how the Europeans in small towns live does make more sense It. Shared resources, respect for the land and those who share it with you, less waste, better space use and of course less chemicals. Now if only governments would pull their proverbial heads out of their butts to allow these homes to be parked (wheeled RV or permanently), they could solve homelessness and assist with social issues of homelessness by having clean and safe tiny home villages reintegrating people back into society. There is one such community coming to fruition near me in Quebec (tinyhousefest.ca) with shared land spots, gardens and water/hydro hookups. There is an English page as well.

    • @tinynestproject
      @tinynestproject  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Christopher Fugle It seems that recent generations have simply had more access to information and are making more critical decisions instead of following a path that is presented to them. People are realizing that working harder usually makes someone else richer and that having more is just more of a burden, and that life is not made better this way... and then of course there's the large scale things like the environment (like you mentioned) that we're only coming to grasp in full lately. That's great to see a Canadian event :) I'm sure we'll be seeing more and more in the coming years.

  • @MisterLumpkin
    @MisterLumpkin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sorry, the loft stairs/ladder is a horrible design. That ladder blocks that entire counter area from easy use. The back corner to the left of the stove is completely inaccessible while standing on the floor. You have to climb up onto the countertop to get to it. Also, it seems that using plaster on the walls of a moveable structure is not the best idea. She was not well served by her builder. She said it was his first tiny house and it shows.

    • @ruthcampo4377
      @ruthcampo4377 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MisterLumpkin What you're saying is it wouldn't work for you. However, she has stated that her needs do not require the additional storage she originally planned for. So I'm thinking that blocking that small piece of counter is not an issue for her.

    • @Penelope416
      @Penelope416 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ruth Campo She should've moved that counter area the other side, for just in case. It's an awkward design that the latter is on top of it.

    $75 K for this?? Some builder made a tidy profit...

    • @tinynestproject
      @tinynestproject  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FJ80Coop There was ample explanation for the costs, and as a trades-person myself, I would hope that a builder tackling a unique project like this would make a fair wage :P
      What do you think it's worth?

    • @FJ80Coop
      @FJ80Coop 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As a general contractor who has built a few of these tiny homes along with dozens of high end homes(mill to 11 mill range) I do not see that price,not even close,not even with a lot of solar,all led,all top of the line exotic materials...But hey,I shake my head when I see the most basic smaller tiny homes built with the lower cost materials selling for 30-50k...I'm not against anyone making a decent wage,but when I see what I feel is someone being taken advantage of it bothers me...

    • @tinynestproject
      @tinynestproject  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FJ80Coop Fair enough. Corinne Segura would have to get into more detail to come to a conclusion. Keep in mind that we are in Canada and this is all in CAD. Our Tiny Nest is probably just going to crack our $25k budget which is 100% materials (including trailer) and we've put in a crazy number of hours, so we think that the true value of our tiny house will be right up there too...

    • @shieh.4743
      @shieh.4743 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FJ80Coop I think you're probably working in American concepts of cost. Things are much more expensive, generally, in Canada. Still, I think it was probably built in Toronto where people spend more money than in most other parts of the country. What bothers me is that the builder didn't replace the components that cracked during movement as it was his job to ensure that correct materials were used.

    • @ppac300
      @ppac300 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +FJ80Coop What would be the average price for a tiny house like that materials alone? I would appreciate the info. Thanks
