its nice that she honours the landlord’s instruction/culture of taking shoes off before entering the apartment. Back in London, us a group of Malaysian students were renting a flat. I understand the differencies between cultures of course. But why would you want all the junk from outside in your home? Taking off your shoes is a standard here.
Geglson I never knew that! For me I don’t wear my shoes in the house, but both of my parents do all day until they sleep lol. I don’t see the point of wearing shoes inside as well, it just brings the dirt from outside in.
Same. I'm from the U.S., Chicago. It's not really a custom here, but I've never liked wearing shoes at home. Yes, there's the dirt factor, but also, I just don't like the feeling of having shoes on my feet that much. It feels unnatural and constricted. I change into flip flops the moment I walk in the door. But at other people's homes, if they ask me to take off my shoes, it makes me a bit uncomfortable, because feet feel private. And when people take off their shoes on airplanes -- just no. No no no no no.
And I don't like walking around in bare feet where other people are walking around either in shoes *or* their own bare feet. Ick, ick, ick! Can you say "athlete's foot"? Do you also go barefoot in public showers and bathrooms? Also, I need the support of shoes, everywhere. My feet don't change their needs depending on where they are. I also don't like to slip on the floors and risk falling.
@@wendyannh Well no one is forcing you to take off your socks, too. Here in Germany we also take off our shoes in the house, I like to bring big wooly socks or non-slipping-socks (which would take care of your fear of slipping) when I go to a house party at a friend's place. Some people will even offer you house shoes our house socks when you come in. And in public showers I usually wear flip flops. Walking without shoes is in no way unhealthy for your feet, of course the needs of feet change depending on where you are. Mine need protection from getting cut etc. as well as coldness when I'm out, they don't need that protection when I'm home. In the end it all comes down to culture and habit. You will find reasons to dislike things you're not used to easily because you only know differently. We just have to realize that it's all subjective there is no right or wrong or better, no matter how much we feel that our way is the best way. I for example would hate wearing shoes in the house, but I can see that you'd like it if everyone around you has done it that way forever. Different countries, different customs. You would not find it disgusting AT ALL to take off your shoes had you grown up in another country where that's the norm.
Well, where I come from being barefoot at somebody else's apartment is seen, like being very close to that person, you don't go taking your shoes off anywhere...Besides, I like shoes in my feet. Just to give you some reference by French insurance, 8 square meters is not even considered a room. It has to be 9 square meters. French law would not even allow such an apartment to be rented
Le petit ami de ma sœur vivait dans un 9m2 à paris. Sa cuisine était juste à côté de sa douche et il est super grand donc il devait se plier pour dormir 😭
Can you imagine the camera man moving around the house to film their faces? After every question the camera man would go like "oh, just a sec, lemme just squeeze over here so I can capture you people" lol
I have 30m² and love it - fast to clean, low energy/heating cost, low taxes etc. People say I live in a prison cell, but I love it. Everything fits in, even a toploader washing machine, I have a neat balcony. I think if you live one full year in your home and you came home and seek shelter from the hot sun or take a warm shower after a cold winter day, every home is getting 80% more cozy.
I live in a 32m² and couldn't agree more! I live alone, no spouse, no kids and it's the perfect space for me. I wouldn't change it for the biggest mansion. Minimalist all the way!
I'm glad that she was very happy with her apartment. I've seen vids of college "closet rooms" where you share a kitchenette and bathroom areas. At least she has privacy. IF she wants to hang items on the walls, 3M products does sell NON Permanant heavy duty hooks and mounting items which she could check out. 💓
Living Big In A Tiny House That's just an abusive and unauthorized apartment in the civilized world with building regulation, don't see shit as chocolate.
I'm amazed. I'm claustrophobic watching this, but it really takes you into a different realm of functionality and comfort. A dinner party would be a great video watch!
Somehow Japan has a feel at home in everything they build. The streets, the people, the villages, even the apartments. I just love this country so much. It's perfect for independent living and enjoying life, especially for those who love the minimalistic lifestyle!
I was so expecting to skip through most of this to just see what it looked like, but stayed because that girl seems like the coolest most friendly person ever! I found everything so funny and interesting, the dudes pretty cool too! I hope he asked her out 😉😎.
Despite the apartment is tiny, but at least it has everything inside and she does not need to share. That's positive. Many problems arise when you share kitchen or bathroom with someone.
I know what you mean. I feel the same, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I also am not sure if I actually could do this, but I start to trick myself into thinking I could because these people make it look so easy and organized! I am a disorganized person with packrat tendencies.
She was talking about worring about the microwave falling down upon her during and earthquake, but I'd be more worried about that vase filled with water just above her computer on a shelf..
I occasionally come back to watch my favorite tiny house videos. While this is def the smallest, it’s her joy and attitude that make me love her apartment (for her).
Most tiny apartments on youtube aren't really apartments as they do not have their own kitchen and bathroom. I think this IS the smallest real apartment I have seen. Great use of space and very livable.

The way he speaks with every single person he's interviewed is amazing. He's like this giant teddy bear.
As long that teddy bear has a belly full of gasoline. 🐻 🔥 💓 😘

I thought that this girl was so sweet but when she said ‘sorry to the snake plant’ I was like yep! I was right, she’s a real sweet girl.
Seriously when she apologized to the snake plant, it restored my faith in humans. She's so respectful to her living space and living things.
SHE IS A SHY CUTE LOVELY GIRL
that is japanese culture, actually. They are saying sorry even to stone, to table, to everything they hit.
@@SArGwo why is that? It is a belief that God is "in" everything?
@@glitterinmyeyes333 As far as I know, Japanese people do not believe in gods, they believe in respecting all things, living or not living
Emma is cute and super funny.. I love her laughter, love the way she appreciates and respects every small thing and how she is happy and contented in her tiny space.
Just to give you some reference by French insurance, 8 square meters is not even considered a room. It has to be 9 square meters.
French law would not even allow such an apartment to be rented
Same in Argentina. 2,70x2,70 meters is the smallest a bedroom can be.
I just saw a video previous of this video in a french Apt.. It was smaller than this place...
@@Fonzi79 it's illegal, but people still do it...
I worked for an insurance company so I know the laws quite well 😅
Can you imagine the camera man moving around the house to film their faces? After every question the camera man would go like "oh, just a sec, lemme just squeeze over here so I can capture you people" lol

If she invites friends to her apartment, the last one in is the first one out.

Ahahahahahah
I have 30m² and love it - fast to clean, low energy/heating cost, low taxes etc. People say I live in a prison cell, but I love it. Everything fits in, even a toploader washing machine, I have a neat balcony. I think if you live one full year in your home and you came home and seek shelter from the hot sun or take a warm shower after a cold winter day, every home is getting 80% more cozy.
I live in a 32m² and couldn't agree more! I live alone, no spouse, no kids and it's the perfect space for me. I wouldn't change it for the biggest mansion. Minimalist all the way!
@@Books-and-coffee0 I am glad to find people like this in the videos.^^
Forget the apartment/corridor, did they end up together???
She have a boyfriend LOL
Why would they ? Wtf..
I think she dated her boyfriend for quite long, even before she moved to Japan
No. His girlfriend is behind the camera 😂
Emma is from Down Under. After filming this video, they probably ended up being down under.

That's not an apartment, that's a corridor!
It's a corridor shaped apartment. ;)
lol

Nice and private apartment. Has everything one would really need along with a happy and content person. Easy to clean as well.
The biggest mystery is how this turns into a 13 minute video
And how did we ended up watching the whole thing.

He definitely hit that, and it definitely upset every neighbor.

HAHAHAHA LMAO IT WAS FUNNY
I thought the 'sink' was the toilet.....
Zikri same haha
Zikri it's both if need be
it should be then they would have more space
it can work if your poop is liquid enough
pervert :)
I'm amazed. I'm claustrophobic watching this, but it really takes you into a different realm of functionality and comfort. A dinner party would be a great video watch!
If she said she got rid of the sink and brushes her teeth in the toilet to save space, his reaction would be to say "That's so cool !"
Stinky Puppie 😂😂😂😂 on point
so tru!!
thanks for the comment, I just laughed so hard ;D
Go one better; keep the sink and poop down it too!
Stinky Puppie Hippies think alike...
The toilet-sink hybrid thing is actually genius.
yeah like i would like to have that in my condo too
I mean, it's japanese people we're talking about
I read this before I watched the video and feared the worst.
There are several variations of that for RVs and boats.
It's a common thing in Japan.
This would make me too anxious. I don’t think I could do. Cheers to her for getting on though.
I know. I started to feel claustrophobic just watching the video.
I love small spaces lol
The balcony helps a little bit
PanicByNumbers I felt short of breath maybe I shouldn’t watch more 😩
Somehow Japan has a feel at home in everything they build. The streets, the people, the villages, even the apartments. I just love this country so much. It's perfect for independent living and enjoying life, especially for those who love the minimalistic lifestyle!
I couldn't even breathe properly just by watching this
I felt the same! Like literally uncomfortable just symphatizing with her residing there.

I was so expecting to skip through most of this to just see what it looked like, but stayed because that girl seems like the coolest most friendly person ever! I found everything so funny and interesting, the dudes pretty cool too! I hope he asked her out 😉😎.
Her name is Emma (Tokidoki Traveler), and she has a boyfriend. 😅
Pretty sure his wife (or gf) was the one filming. Also, he seems to have this demeanor toward nearly everyone he interviews.
me too!
when your apartment is literally a hallway.
Harry Potter can't fit under those stairs...
My hallway is bigger. 😯
I gave you your 1000th comment.
bryce should have turned up with a hotdog
EMMA is just a light in this world! She seems like a very sweet person.
Despite the apartment is tiny, but at least it has everything inside and she does not need to share. That's positive. Many problems arise when you share kitchen or bathroom with someone.
Made the mistake of having a roommate. Never again.
Yess.. My friend offered to share room, but I can imagine disaster coming in.. so, nope🤓
Still better than SF lol
I have always have flatmates and while there are bad ones, I'd always prefer this to living alone. At least in my 20s
This is absolutely last resort for me. Having a roommate = BIG nope
This inspires me to clean and organize my room, and throw out the things I don't need. Thanks.

Yh I feel like she has a point saying that the apartment makes you rly creative
That sort of thing would make me want to both go outside/explore more and create

Most tiny apartments on youtube aren't really apartments as they do not have their own kitchen and bathroom. I think this IS the smallest real apartment I have seen. Great use of space and very livable.
It is so small, while watching I could not even breathe . Although japanese people made it so comfortable for life. Japanese people are really clever and innovative. Respect them
Its not that small actually. Asian people have a smaller body
Not being able to stretch your arms even when you are not tall is suffocating

Ya trip...i live in california and we dont have them but once every few years. I had no idea Japan and Alaska have them all the time.
