He must be playing one of the Custom re-issue LPs. The old PAFs had an attack closer to single coils, and these sound like remakes of those. (I’ve heard this is because they weren’t “true humbucking pickups” the way we’re used to them today). Sounds amazing. As does the amp.
And most of them dont know that New speakers need some Playing time ( approx 20-30 Hours ) to "Break in" till they reach their full Sound -Volume potential .
Of all the demos of the origin 20,this one at the top of video does sound thinner than the other demos, i think it's the bridge pickup, tone full and eq of this guy. I could get it lot tighter with rolling tone off
I honestly love the sound of that amp , checked a few vids out now my tele would sound so good through it... Loving the tears for fears great little play
Anonymous Chicago music exchange actually has the marshall fridge just off camera loaded with cold brew coffee, some of those guys life off that shit 😁
I love mine. Out the box, it does not suit my main playing style, but I have it set up to cover everything, 60s 70s out the box. 70s 80s with boss ds1, +80s with joyo high gain distortion, Marshall shredmaster clone. I have the amp gain on 3, and putting the ds1 into the joyo high gain works extremely well. Such a beautiful amp,
Owen Hu That is a very nice feature and will come in handy for home use! I really just hate lugging heavier gear to gigs since we always mic our amps where I play anyway. I usually stick to lighter 15 or even 5 watt tube combos with 12 inch speakers because they come in around 32 lbs or so which doesn't kill my back along with hauling guitars and pedalboard. That said, it looks like the 50 watt is only about 40 lbs.
I run mine into a 1x12 cab with a celestion greenback. I have a tony iommi boost going into the front. It does nt sound brittle or ice picky.also is very loud on the 20 watt setting.
I played the 20 at my local shop. I have to say, this amp is sweet. For a 10 inch speaker...this amp gets loud with a full clean sparkle tone. CME will be getting a call from me in the future for one of these amps. The greatest store ever! Along with awesome guitars, the people there are wonderful to work with. Cheers
Whats with that ,if you smoke do you need to project that to feel ok with it or is it an attempt to bond like your part of a club ? Smoke and believe in yourself ,i never need validation or creepy stuff like that , kids today are weird
from what is written in the manual OUTPUT LEVEL Adjusts the output power level. At high power the output will be the maximum available power level. At mid power the output of the amplifier is set for quieter performance use and recording (ORI20: approx. 3W / ORI50: approx. 10W). At low power the output will be reduced for home practice (ORI20: approx. 0.5W / ORI50: approx. 0.5). from what is written in the manual so the 20w must have 20w 3w and 0.5w (non 20w 5w and 1w)
I've had one of these for a few months. Here's my thoughts... The V type jr is a terrible speaker. If you put a 10" greenback in it, you'll get a fuller tighter low end, more mids and a smoother high end. I dont have experience wit the 10" creamback, but I've seen that it's a bit too smooth and dark. The tilt control is nothing more than a glorified tone control. Being a Marshall the bass control does nothing past 2, the mid control is quite dramatic, but the treble control does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! You can hit a note constantly while turning the treble up and down and you wont hear any difference. Oddly though a lot of the treble frequencies are controlled by the mid control! You can leave the treble on 0, tilt, mid and presence at half way and you'll have all the treble you could want. It's not a bedroom amp at all. To get drive, both the gain and volume must be turned up. The "power stem" doesn't cut much volume, even in .5 watt mode at full volume/gain, it's going to put out around 90 db. But there is loss of low end in 3 watt mode, and .5 watt mode sounds rather terrible. For home use you'd be better off leaving it in 20 watt mode and using a decent attenuator. The boost adds a clean volume boost of 20db in the preamp. It doesn't make the amp louder, it drives the preamp harder and creates a bit more drive, a lot of people complain it makes the amp too bassy, but at low volume/gain settings it will give you a very slight volume boost and fatten up the tone. Now all that sounded bad, but once its dialed in and use the right speaker for you, you can get a great tone.
Seems too many players have no PATIENCE with new amps , The V type jr Speaker is AWESOME when its finally "Well Played -Broken in" , After 30 -40 Hours it reached its full sound - volume potential . I Experimented it with a 10 Greenback and i didnt like it . Its pure preference .
Yes Rebecca, I own this amp and agree with all your points. It's still a great amp... but for the bedroom player get an attenuator, or buy a modeling amp instead.
Those 50s PAFs reissue pickups are brighter than a Fender Strat single coil pickup, and thats how real PAFs from the 50s and 60s sounded, not even close to the mids carnaval we hear from todays hambuckers , also add the Gibson shorter scale compared to a Fender and its even brighter, perhaps dialing the amp better to remove some of that extreme brightess it would have worked better but cool video, thanks.
Longer scale length uses more foot pounds of tension to create A440 compared to a shorter scale and makes it brighter than a looser shorter scale guitar, hence the spankier more sparkly Fenders. Just sayin’, physics and all that...
Friend, I have the origin 50c. I use it more in apartment and small shows. When I play in bigger venues I usually mic. Do you think it's worth changing the 50 for the 20 because of the power switching and the ease of transport? It gives a lot of difference in bass because of the 10 speaker? Thank you in advance.
Even with what looks to be a ribbon mic on this amp it seems bright and kind of ice-picky to my ears... I was really hoping to love this amp but all the demos I have heard so far seem to have the same issues.
You guys must have reamped this. Maybe I'm crazy, but at the volume levels that attenuator would put your amp at we would hear your guitar strings I bet. Also, the tone at the top of the video is the attenuated one. I think. It sounds kinda thinner and fizzy. I actually dig the tone you captured, but the second tone is a bit more full sounding. Great video! Would love to hear more of the Origin series. Really nice amps!
What do you think of the gain pull boost feature? I have the amp personally but can’t make the pull boost work for me I don’t like it. It makes things too muddy and boomy
His pick attack makes the Les Paul almost sound like a strat!
I think it's also the pickups and the amp settings, but his pick attack is certainly in that style.
Yep definitely!
That's just what you call responsiveness.. and this amp has it
That low action also contributes to the sound. A bit to low I would say...
He must be playing one of the Custom re-issue LPs. The old PAFs had an attack closer to single coils, and these sound like remakes of those. (I’ve heard this is because they weren’t “true humbucking pickups” the way we’re used to them today). Sounds amazing. As does the amp.
TH-cam comments never cease to give me cancer, "Amp sounds harsh and thin" when 90% of the audience is listening on mobile devices or laptop speakers.
... and has no idea about the history of Marshall!
And most of them dont know that New speakers need some Playing time ( approx 20-30 Hours ) to "Break in" till they reach their full Sound -Volume potential .

Maybe guitar is a little out of tune?
Damn This is so True..
I honestly love the sound of that amp , checked a few vids out now my tele would sound so good through it...
Loving the tears for fears great little play
Tears for Fear...first time hearing someone jam on that!
that was recorded on a strat i believe and here it sounds great on a lester
Everybody wants to rule.....
Best thing Marshall has made in a long time. Definitely bettter than their cheesy bluetooth speakers and that dumb fridge.
Anonymous Chicago music exchange actually has the marshall fridge just off camera loaded with cold brew coffee, some of those guys life off that shit 😁
Those CODE amps are pretty lame, but leave the fridge out of this...
Got the Marshall Fridge as a wedding gift and it's Awesome!
I have to stick up for that thing🤘🏽
That fridge is kick ass, even goes to 11 ..... don't bash that, bash the code
These origin amps are pretty meh in person tbh. Very shrill. But the fridge is legendary

I wish they put a 12" speaker in the 20 watt combo....
I seen a vid with a room mic and the 10' sounds small. Wonder if a 12''can fit?
Earl00001 If I go for it Ill have to get the 20 watt head and pick out a 12 inch cab I guess.
That works. And there is also the 50w with a 12"
the 50 watts combo has a power selector though, so you could still use the 50 watts in bedroom level if thats what you were concerned about
Owen Hu That is a very nice feature and will come in handy for home use! I really just hate lugging heavier gear to gigs since we always mic our amps where I play anyway. 2:44 'Different people playing on different guitars so you can see how it sounds" Um, about that broken promise...
I run mine into a 1x12 cab with a celestion greenback. I have a tony iommi boost going into the front. It does nt sound brittle or ice picky.also is very loud on the 20 watt setting.
Great demo....best origin one out there! Love it my second amp is going to be the little bugger.
I played the 20 at my local shop. I have to say, this amp is sweet. For a 10 inch speaker...this amp gets loud with a full clean sparkle tone. This dude is super high. And sounds just marvelous.
James Sankey lmao right
Whats with that ,if you smoke do you need to project that to feel ok with it or is it an attempt to bond like your part of a club ? Smoke and believe in yourself ,i never need validation or creepy stuff like that , kids today are weird
Wow. Sounds damn good. I wish I had the money for that heartwood maple lemon green finished 58 you had a few weeks ago...in love with that guitar.
Big ups for playing Tears for Fears through that thing (y) Everybody Wants to Rule the World is easily one of my favourite songs
That’s a gorgeous guitar
With a few different guitars and different people? Good demo of a great amp, but just see one man and one guitar 😉
WOW ALEX….Great playing !!!!
Really nice sounding amp
from what is written in the manual
OUTPUT LEVEL
Adjusts the output power level. 0.5).
from what is written in the manual
so the 20w must have 20w 3w and 0.5w (non 20w 5w and 1w)
Got mine this afternoon per the late fedex driver
so definitely go with the 50w with the 12inch speaker
It’s soo bright
made my tinnitus start hissing! yuck!
distortion only?
Settings are 20, 3 and .5 watts according to specs. Just saying, no biggie.
I really wanna hear this with something like a Radial North Star, something low gain with a clean gain boost,in front of it
God what a beaut of a Lester.
Brighter!!!
So in 2024, it is the Origin 50w and a suite of pedals or the swiss army knife Boss Katana Gen 3 100w
I enjoyed that
Looks like one guitar and one person to me. Sounds great though
Love my 2009 Marshall MG 100FX 2×12 Combo..Stock with 2×12 Celestion speakers..

Can you get a that Ramones-y overdriven but
not metal tone out of this?

If i were you’d I’d just buy the extension cab 2x12 they make for the origin
im not getting this much gain, do you think my tubes are blown ?
I have a strict policy of only buying used gear but this...this is giving me a moral crisis...
Is it just me? When it comes to these new Marshalls wheres the MEAT? They sound thin.
i thought the same, but i can't tell if its the 10 inch speaker or not. the 50W combo sounded pretty nice to me
there's a tilt control...no telling where he has it set at
Look at the name of the amp. Amps weren't fat sounding back in the day. These amps aren't meant for everyone.
The "MEAT" is the bit YOU put in. It's in your fingers.
Go hi gain model for more
Is Joel on hols?
Even with what looks to be a ribbon mic on this amp it seems bright and kind of ice-picky to my ears... I was really hoping to love this amp but all the demos I have heard so far seem to have the same issues.
Have you seen Brett Kingmann's demo? I think this amp sounded awesome in his demo. And, in my huble opinion this one is a good one too. : )
Cheap speakers always sound way better once broken in. The difference is night and day.

Song is nice but everybody rules the world but it needs to be cleaner all these demo with over gain dude CLEAN sometime
0:54 Yeah, I can tell
How do you feel about the 10" speaker? Do you feel it limits the amp compared to a 12"?
2 el34s?
Yep
Are you the alien from Mac and me?
Should titled as Les Paul Pickups Demo instead.
All the demos I've heard of the new Origins sound painfully brittle and thin. Like a $99 solid state amp. Bizzarre.
Giulio Carmassi it sound really good in person, just tried one out a music store
Most product presenters don't know what to do with it. I hate all of the Fender Bassbreaker demos online, but in person they're great.
This demo was terrible. I own it, doesn't sound solid state at all. But it's a very bright amp with the VT jr ceramic speaker.
Wrong microphone...
a 10" speaker what were they thinking! I wouldn't use any 10" speaker with a Marshall. My 20w heads going thru a 15" fullback!
20 watt Origin head through 2 x 12 or 4 x12 sounds gr8...... this thing sounds thin through 1 x 10
Cut cut cut cutting high end......
The new DSLs are better. More versatile and much better bottom end. But I think the new Blackstar Mark 2 edges the DSL.
Not one second of pleasing tone in this.
looks like he's had one too many cones !
sounds for me way too harsh and thin......
Terrible demo. This amp is so beautiful sounding clean, but not 1 second of clean playing. smh
What do you think of the gain pull boost feature? I have the amp personally but can’t make the pull boost work for me I don’t like it. It makes things too muddy and boomy
@@djc5897 I completely agree, I don’t like the boost either.
This is what happens when you have a mediocre guitar player , demo a good product everybody thinks it sounds thin.
Hahaha....another Mr know it all!.. where is your demo of your mediocre playing we can all criticize douche?!
Amen.
Not much bottom end in this demo
Nice concept but clearly snorted by the accountants.
Marshall combos have always been a joke. If you're going to buy a marshall buy a head with a 4-12 bottom. If you want a combo go buy a Mesa Boogie
GUITAR OCD guess you don’t know about the history of the original Marshall blues breaker then 🙄
Lol
Dave that was 1 amp. Marshall combos suck.
@@guitarocd9984 complete bullshits!even their 90s Valvestate combos are still amazing to these days
Harsh
Sounds like crap. Really.
You're either hard of hearing, watching this on a phone, or haven't played through one with a good guitar. I'm guessing all three are true.
Ain’t worth the chip board it’s made out of.
