What do you guys think about this bike? Who else has one? Has Harley knocked it outside of the park with this one?
I love mine. I am waiting on my tail tidy to arrive any day now. I have also blacked out the original pipe it now looks amazing. I have the forward controls and coming from a sport bike I didn't like them at first. I love them now and would definitely feel cramped with mids. My brakes have worn in now and are great, but were terrible in the beginning. I have changed the gear lever peg to a larger one as I just kept missing gears it has fixed this issue now. I'm getting a custom seat and can't wait to put that on. It's going to look awesome!!!
@@2wheeled_inkedchic That’s awesome that you are getting it the way you want it! Yeah I think I kept missing gears due to my boot or the lever position.
I have one, but the shift lever screw popped out while I was riding it home so it's been at the dealer for 2 weeks. Really bummed because I'm out of town and I'm not able to ride it

Im hopping they make the XR version with the new rev tec to compete with the Indian FTR.
Nice video thanks. I've been eyeing the Sportster S. I'm short so I think I would like the mid controls. I'm not a fan on how the exhaust sounds though. So, there's that. I'm waiting for the 2022 Nightster to come out. My son who is a performance tech for Indian and races the FTR 1200 in the super Hooligans said that the motor on the Nightster is killer and is going to give the Scout a run for its money so I'm gona wait and see on that one before I decide. Maybe you can do a first ride on that one. thanks again.

Great video. The exhaust and new license plate setup are done on it and man what a difference. When I revved it in the carport my wife said I vibrated her desk upstairs lol. And yea 120mph on paper and I've gotten it to 136mph before letting off due to the crazy wind with room to go (guessing maybe 140-145ish top speed?). Definitely adding a windshield to it in the future. Also corners pretty good. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the lean angle of a sport bike but I just hang off the side more to compensate lol. And yea when I put the mids on it I immediately noticed the kickstand on it being in an awkward position. I tend to use my toe to operate it instead of my heel.

I like the look but would want to reroute the exhaust down below and short so it doesn't cover the rear tire.
Yeah this one detail it killing the looks, but great other than that!
I the HD Sportster S, but if or when I buy one, I would definitely change the exhaust; my first choice would be the Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde exhaust. This is exhaust has three sound modes, and the 2nd mode is throaty, and it looks nice. I wonder is anyone else would recommend a different exhaust? I'm going to need to test drive both bikes with the mid-set foot controls and the one with the forward-set foot controls. I currently have a Triumph Speedmaster with forward/mid controls, so I'm not sure which I'd really prefer.
Good review! How did you like the engine braking? Some reviews don’t mention that but it’s really nice on this bike. Love my Sportster S so far.
You know what know that you mention it, I really didn’t pay a whole of attention to it. If I remember correctly it did have a good bit of engine braking. So those concerned with the signal disc brake rotor up front, just know when you down shift or decelerate there is a good bit of engine braking.

That's a lot of weight to be stopping with only one front brake. I agree with you on the exhaust. I thought the same thing when I saw it at IMS Atlanta last year. I did like the engine though. It's the same as the Pan American.
Yea alot of people said that it should have come standard with dual front discs. That being said I've had to stop pretty hard on them before and I had no issues.
Most cruisers on come with one disc rotor. They actually stop pretty good! I don’t think they expect you to be doing hard braking like you would with a sport bike, or using it at the track. 😄
My brakes felt crap to begin with but after putting Klms on they have improved allot. I like them now.

I'm the same height as you and it appears we probably have a similar 34-35 inch inseam. The forward controls look like the better option. The fat tires look like they would be very stable - I have a skinny tires on loose gravel phobia. I was surprised to hear the owner laid it down.
Yes I feel forward controls would be better for teller riders. I believe he laid it down when it was wet out. Never got the whole story.

Pretty good review I feel. And glad you opened it up. I thought these might be speed limiter. I’m way too big for one but it’s cool to see them make these quick. The pan America is probably even faster but it’s way too ugly

This bike should have been 2inches taller and came with rear sets. Like a modern XR1200
I think the mirrors would look great if they were flipped down and For the exhaust a 2-into-1 looks really good on the sportster. Removing the bottom exhaust tip clears up a lot of space and looks far more aggressive. Jekyll and Hyde made an awesome looking exhaust for this motorcycle but it’s overpriced sadly
You need to let the shifter return after you shift.

I still like my Vrod Muscle over it. I do like the new technology going into it and other motorcycles. It's a step into the future that new riders will probably like.

I been seriously thinking about getting this bike for a couple of weeks now, I currently have a 17 R6 but I kind of miss my XSR 900 my previous bike and now that I am 35 engaged and will probably have a kid within the next 5 years, thinking about getting this cruiser.

Harley can no longer sell the 883/1200 sportsters in the EU/UK due to emission regulations. This is why they are pushing these new motors and why they sound so European.
