with the brown switches it sounded quite good out of the box, but still too loud to bring to the office. I replaced the switches with Tcc Frozen Silent and it is now more silent then any other keyboard I own. Also, compared to the K8, the Bluetooth connection is more quickly established when you come back to unlock it. Also, it works out of the box with linux without having to hack things. This keyboard is also really well built
I love how the Pro sounds. Bought it an hour ago. If I need to switch the switches later, I’ll do that. But I like how it sounds out of the box. I might put Panda’s in it. And get some thicker lube but this is nearly exactly what I want for half the cost of the one I was going to get.
This seems to be better than K8 in typing sound and tactile impression. One point that is keeping me from buying it is the fact that the key caps are not shine through type and the back light doesn't make the letters and numbers on the caps shine.
Good point. I haven’t done much research but I think it may have something to do with being a PBT keycaps instead of ABS material. None of the PBT keycaps I have reviewed personally have been shine through. But I 100% agree with you
These typing test don’t do it justice. It sounds much better in person. The microphones make it have a little more ping than it actually has. I don’t hear any ping when I’m typing on it right now.
Love those screwdrivers Shawn. Keep up the great work sir! :) btw, K8 pro is bit priced on the higher side of premium affordable keyboards. I would like to see a side by side comparison of this and GMMK 2.
Hows the key spacing? I have used to Keychron K2v2 and it suited me. Is the key spacing more or less the same on this one? I do not like if its cramped like Logitech keyboard
I’m sorry but RGB is utterly pointless on a keyboard unless you have keys that let the light through. It looks like on this one they haven’t bothered to include keys which do that. To make things worse they have made the RGB south facing which means there are very few keycaps out there that will illuminate the character because the character is in a northern position.
so no one will acknowledge that those RGB lights do nothing to do shine the keys so that it can be seen in dark ? LOL what a blunder, all those lights and still u can't see the keys in dark
Most higher-end mechanical keyboards don't come stock with shine-through keycaps, even when configured with RGB. This is because shine-through caps are usually lower quality in general, presumably because they have to be made thinner. If you want shine-through on your board then there are lots of after market keycap set options, though. YMDK's sets are pretty solid in my experience. Akko also recently released a set of transparent keycaps that were well received. The Drop Skylight series looks pretty good, too. Really, this board not having shine-through caps stock is kind of expected.
Indeed. They are advertised as the premium experience (and Pro implies, for professionals), the lighting is touted... only for us to discover that the keys are subpar and the lighting is just an addon for no purpose. And many of these reviewers just bypass this bit. I don't get it.

Love my K8 Pro. Matches perfectly with their Q0 Number Pad.
Can you like used it out of the box or do you have to like set it up first?
Would it hurt your hands while typing without a wristrest?

Just got the same keyboard as yours, I luv it 😍
Don’t you just love how it sounds?
Great review! You sound like a keyboard expert to me!
Haha.. thanks mate 🍻
nice video, feel like it's worth mentioning that the LED's don't shine through to the legends on the keys
What is the point of having backlighting but the actual letters do not light up?

I got that same screwdriver set with my graphics card. It came with it and has the graphics card name on it. I use it all the time.
l am looking for the exactly same style of key cap that are on the K8 Pro but backlot and l mean that exact key not the more square keycaps thanks
nice review just when you bend the pins you still can unbend them and they will work if you did it properly.

I want a more clicky sound. Should I go with the blue switches or the brown switches? Or does that even make a difference?
If you want clicky, I'd recommend going with Blues, Browns don't really have any clicky sound themselves.
What would u recommend? The k8 or k8 pro?
OMG! K8 Pro hands down. It’s incredible how much better it is for almost the same price
Those default keycaps any good? Heard they were garbage.
They are ok but i swapped the ones on my k8 pro to some 1.5mm thick PBT XDA profiles which sound and feel better in my opionion.
@@Digigavuk I'm going to try some of those keycaps now. thanks.
I really like this keyboard but i bet it is going to be a crump/dust/hair magnet with all those raised edges.
plastic or aluminium?
Aluminum
@@EnforcerMan waiting for the aluminum to come back into stock. Looks like an amazing keyboard!
@@CallMeMrAnderson yeah man. You’ll love it. Mine are brown switches. I’m a big fan of tactile switches.
thanks

I agree. I recently upgraded to a mechanical keyboard with the non-lighted keycaps and I really miss the lighted ones on my previous board.
so then buy rgb friendly keycaps. This is a keyboard for enthusiasts, and those kinda of people tend to buy third party keycaps anyways
When a casual shares his thoughts and gets schooled lol
