The gasket performance is quite a bit different between the P1 and the Q1. The Q1 Max is very bouncy. To me that is the biggest difference, if you want a LOT of bounce get the Q1 Max. To me the sound is better on the P1 though at least to my ears and the caps are better... Betty this is a phenomenal video, the amount of detail you provided for your viewers is amazing! So glad to see new videos again!
Something that could be added is that the layout does not stop at size. ISO layouts on the Keychron website are sometimes under a different listing of the same product, sometimes under the same. Sometimes the ISO listing comes up when you navigate to the product via the menus, sometimes they don't and require you to search for them separately. It is a pain, but at the same time, beats competitors like Lofree or Nuphy out of the water by even having ISO options for many of their boards.
Thanks for your videos and effort to make it easier for us. I just bought a K10 Max with red switches. It's a weird feeling to type on a keyboard with high keys and long movement after working on laptops and low profile keyboards for about 20 years. I still make errors typing on the new one but it feels so good, and sound amazing. I think I would also love to type on blue switches, but I didn't have a chance to try those.
In Europe Keychron is pretty funny to shop at. They do seem to have a store for many if not most countries. They are not local versions of the same shop. In fact they do have different products on offer and also availability is widely different. Now comes the fun part. Within the EU, you can go to any of these shops and from those that I tried, shipping fees did not change to Austria, no matter what country TLD the store had. This is especially relevant as various ISO layouts are often sold out and the ISO-DE layout may be sold out in the German store but available in the French. ... I have no idea what and how this shop system works in the background. Probably it all comes from the same warehouse anyway, so I really don't get the vastly different offerings and availability.
Solid advice. Went through a few keychron keyboards. For someone who wants to upgrade their keyboard the brand is very friendly to changing switches and via programming make it very easy to change and try different key maps and shortcut. There are other cheaper better options but until you know what you like you can’t go wrong with keychron. Also last black Friday they had pretty decent deals on the pro series. Myself I bumped to Zsa voyager for ultimate travel and key mapping. And currently in hhkb snow for their unique feel and loving it. I rotate my keyboards but the keychron is still one of my main rotations especially when you nail down what feel and sound you want.
I bought a Q6 barebone ISO last year (I'm old and like a numpad), slapped some Boba U4t in and topped them with MT3 Noctua keycaps from Drop. I love this keyboard! feels amazing to type on and sounds great.
I’m looking at Keychron again to replace my much-loved but beaten-up original K3 and the line-up has just exploded and now I have a very bad case of analysis paralysis! I was leaning towards to the V MAX because they have dual adapters (a Type-C adapter) which I thought would be convenient with my MacBook Air. But then you say Vs are lower build quality. How about the V MAXs? But now you got me looking at the Q MAXs ($$$) and Lemokeys. Maybe full Q6, or 1 or 3 with the standalone number pad if I need it. But as I’m also eyeing the Lemokey G1 mouse, now the X1/2 or L1/2 ($$$) are catching my eye. But since I probably want to stick with low profile the only choice is K Max after all. Dammit! I’m probably overthinking this. But am I though?
One thing that i feel that Keychron does that no (or very few) other manufacturers do is that they have ISO-versions available. Great for those of us in the rest of the world (that love our big Return-keys).
Fun thing is that before I got into the void of mechanical keyboards... :D I was already using ANSI-versions of keyboards (Czech Republic). So I am already used to this layout. There's tons of ANSI layout keycaps, with ISO it's a bit more complicated, but I am happy for you, that you ISO layout enjoyers have a choice
That alone is reason enough to buy them. About 99% of the keyboards featured on YT aren't available in ISO, or even available at all in some countries.
Great video. I wish this was around like 2 years ago when I was trying to decipher Keychron’s website and lineup to buy my first mechanical keyboard. And I literally mean de-cipher. It’s so complicated that it totally feels like having to use a secret code to figure out what to buy.
Did you mention the Q5 Pro/Max aka 1800 layout? I consider it a 96% but a more “relaxed” version, having some gap around the arrow keys. Much better than the K4 96%.
Some of these keyboards have a "print screen" button (left side of "del"). Do someone know whether such button is the classical "print screen" function (taking a screenshot of full screen and saving it to the clipboard), or the new one (the snipping function that is called with Windows + Shift + S)..?
Still seems kind've crazy to me that a fully assembled Q6 Max sells for $219.99 but the barebones (without switches and keycaps) still costs $199.99? So a set of stock keycaps and Gateron Jupiter switches for a 100% full-size keyboard is really only valued at $20? I'm guessing they must sell a lot of the barebones model hence the relatively high price.
I have a black Q3 (TKL). I don't mind not having a numpad but I do like the complete separation of the nav block. Mods: foam, tape, that anti-collision tape between the two case halves (don't remember the mod's name), hand-lubed Gateron black ink v2 with 40g springs and pbtfans wob caps.
Wow, I'm early for once! Good timing! I have a K8, but have been looking at the k4 because of the number pad. Your vids are always informative. Thanks!
The original low profile K series had both Keychron and Gateron switches. I have the white switches which are ultra silent and very little pressure due to medical issue. The red switches is too hard to type on for me. Problem is the original series will be discontinued and the new series just have Gateron low profile switches and they do not come in white. What are my options if I want to use the Pro or Max low profile series?
Is the Q1 max gasket actually well executed? Everyone says how it is one of the best features in customs kbs and I never owned one. However, some people say on Keychron it is over the top and very bouncy, which could be distracting
Fantastic job, holy $*it that’s a lot of options. You did an amazing job making sense of that maze of possibilities. You took me on the journey I needed, I have gained a new appreciation for the nuance of the keyboard. Thank you. 🙏 Thumbs up and I’ll be checking out your other content. 😊👏
Out of the K, K Pro and Max, the Max is not necessarily the best because it does not support VIA while K Pro does. In Australia, Amazon actually sell the K Pro at a cheaper price than the equivalent Max version.
Typing on the Keychron Q1 HE right now, and I gotta say, I'm absolutely in love with this keyboard! Coming from mainly "gamer focused" keyboard brands like Razer and Steelseries in the past, this thing is a massive upgrade over any of those. I actually bought this the the Razer Blackwidow V4 75% to test them side by side, since I'd heard Razer made some upgrades. But this thing absolutely blows Razer out of the water. I will say, its definitely not cheap, but its definitely worth it. I'm going to be looking into replacing the stabs with Durock V3's to hopefully make the spacebar a little better too.
Watching this while I put together my V4 Max. I bought it barebones because I am upgrading from a K12 Pro(I'm swapping the LTC Jerzi Similar Reds into the V4 and putting the Gateron Reds back into the K12). I wish they had a K12 Max because I prefer the thinner bezels around the deck, but whatever.
Would love to hear more about what you think about Hall Effect keyboards. It seems like the new exciting technology but I'm not sure if it's what I should get or not yet. Was assuming the Q5 Max/Q6 Max would be the obvious choices for me.
I have A V3 Max for work, with custom keycaps (cherry profile, that I designed myself via YUZU). It's light weight, easy to travel with. Hence why the V3 Max for work. The sound, honestly, I love it. It has a decent spacebar and I was surprised. For my home office/gaming I designed my keycaps again and wanted a TKL, so there the Q3 Max comes in. It stays at my desk and never moves. The weight of it makes it so. The stock keycaps sounded so nice, but the stock spacebar not. They did add foam which helped it out. Now, when I placed in my own keycaps from YUZU, the sound changed a lot. For the better imho. It's a bit louder, but the spacebar doesn't have a nasty obnoxious sound. All in all, for a Belgian ISO viewer... I love keychron as they think about ISO support a lot. I know I'm a minority ISO-user, but I need it, as a programmer/gamer/musician I'm so used to it and honestly, other keyboards I tried/tested didn't do it for me OR they did do it for me - but there wasn't an ISO version. Or the ISO version wasn't hotswap... I'm glad the company exists thus, because when building keyboards for someone else I know I'll at least find something they'll like. As the Q1 Pro I did for someone in a custom keycap theme. I did like the type feel there myself with their own (ISO-BE keycaps!!); so I kept them if I ever want to use it on my own 75% build. Because, I feel I need to try that vs a TKL. More space for mousemovement!
I bought a 27" monitor as an extension for my laptop earlier this year since I'd been desperately in need of bigger workspace. I thought it would be clumsy to type with my laptop's keyboard but my eyes were on the second, larger monitor; so I thought it would be a good idea to get a keyboard. It was the time I was introduced to mechanical keyboards, and a bit googling took me to Keychron. Budget consideration for a first mechanical keyboard brought me to Keychron C1 Pro; it's hot-swappable (sounds good, so I could customize later when I have time), has RGB backlight (that I rarely use because I'm not looking at the keyboard all the time), and has VIA/QMK support (I didn't know what it was but it sounds cool anyway).
I actually just got a Q1 HE, and I've been loving it! It's my first non-Logitech/non-laptop kb in...well... probably since whatever trash came with my budget 286 back in the day. So I don't /really/ have anything to compare it to. It's certainly miles better than the Logi G910 I'm coming from. Got it for the HE switches. Seems like it was the only HE KB that /also/ had a knob + arrows. I need the knob - so glad Keychron had that available. Also got a Q0 numpad, cuz I use the numpad way too often to be without - but I've been trying to use it southpaw, which has been an interesting experience. The HE stuff is fascinating. It's what drew me. (Just as aside, y'all are crazy with some of the cut-down keebs! I lean the other way - gimme MOAR buttons! I have big hands and a big desk! If Keychron made a 120% HE with a knob I'd buy it in a heartbeat!)
Thanks for this video, it was very helpful in choosing which keyboard to go with. I accidentally destroyed my Ducky One 3 Mini by spilling some coffee on it. Tried everything, still didn't work so I knew I had to get a new keyboard. Ended up going with the Lemokey P1 Pro which I am very happy with. I have lubed Drop Holy Panda switches which I put into it and it is truly a sensational experience using this keyboard. I've also found that the extra keys in the 75% over the 60% layout have come to great use.
I recently ordered from Keychron. This is how i picked. First, i asked myself what layout i wanted. This was easy to find because next to the version number, it has the layout in brackets on their website. I then found the keyboards in the layout i wanted, that were in ISO as i wanted ISO. I ended up wanting a 96% keyboard because i wanted a shorter keyboard than a full length, but i still wanted the numpad. That left me between the Q5 Pro and Q5 max, and the K5 Pro. I ended up going with the Q5 Max because the Pro did not have 2.4ghz wireless, only bluetooth, which has too high latency for gaming. The K5 Pro wasn't quite what i wanted as the layout, while still being 96%, was slightly different and it did not have a programmable knob/pot.
Keychron definitely has a lot of options that warrants an in detail video like this! And with Lemokey being a part of it now, the choices are endless! Great vid as always!
Hi Darling, thanks for the video(s)! Germany here! :p We need ISO (QWERTZ). The Wormier 75 isn't available as ISO (QWERTZ). Which one would you recommend else? Thanks in advance!
So are these keyboards more like novelty custom office keyboards are they also for hardcore gaming? Would they be good for playing rainbow six siege and stuff like that?
I recently got a Keychron South Paw keyboard. It sounds and feels amazing out the box, Initially I bought it for my job -beforeIwastolditwasapreferenceandnotanecessary- I use it as my main keyboard now. :)
Man its so hard to find a barebones, Wireless, 100%, DE-ISO keyboard. Keychron have them, but they are permanently out of stock...and I don´t want to buy an assembled one just to pay 50€ more for switches and keycaps that I will switch out anyway. I want tactile bumpy switches for work.
I bought second hand keychron v1 for $55 last year as my first custom keeb. I dont really like the transculent plastic looks so i spray paint the top case white and i really like how it turned out :>
hey i wanted to ask you something. is it possible for you to fix my rk61 because the port came loose and i cant solder it. ive been watching your channel for a long time.
Thank you so much for this video! I was looking at their website and got lost pretty soon 😅 I ended up looking at the q13 pro alice 96 (i think) but that's quite expensive even as barebones. Then I got lost on the switches and keycaps and I gave up xD
Keychron killed it by being one of the first to have a full lineup of ISO layouts, thus reaching a huge market worldwide. I honestly don't understand what other manufacturers are thinking, have they ever looked out of their windows, there's a whole world out there using ISO.... Epomaker has some, AKKO has very few....
I keep buying earbuds for my tech channel and i thought i had a problem... But after seeing your table of keychrons I feel much better, brave to share with us 😂 also thank you for the info right now there is a sale on woot and this video will definitely help narrow it down
Overall, I like it but there are just too many options which is both good and bad. They really need to simplify their lineup. The switch parameters are confusing if you don’t already know what they mean and the LED feature feels like a gimmick for kids. For productivity, I’d swap the DEL key and the backlight key because people are definitely going to hit that backlight mode key by accident.

I wish there were more videos on TH-cam about keyboards with an ISO layout.
ISO sucks tho
The EU hates their citizens.
I was getting ready to purchase the Keychron Q3 HE QMK Wireless until I realised there isn't an ISO layout 🙁
Yeah it's borderline infuriating that 90% of the market is catered around the US, as if EU citizens are not interested in enthusiast level Keyboards.
@@Feanarth ANSI is just superior to ISO. Everyone should use ANSI. Small left shift and big enter are crimes against humanity.

Hi Darling, thanks for the video(s)! Germany here! :p
We need ISO (QWERTZ). The Wormier 75 isn't available as ISO (QWERTZ).
Which one would you recommend else? Thanks in advance!
So are these keyboards more like novelty custom office keyboards are they also for hardcore gaming? Would they be good for playing rainbow six siege and stuff like that?
Thank you for this review!!!
I recently got a Keychron South Paw keyboard. It sounds and feels amazing out the box, Initially I bought it for my job -beforeIwastolditwasapreferenceandnotanecessary- I use it as my main keyboard now. :)
Great job reviewing
I'd like to see you review NuPhy keyboards, especially their new V2 lines that support QMK/VIA
You did so good ^^✨
What do you think about V6 max with babana switches? :)
Welcome back! Can we have a video reviewing Lofree's low profile keyboards? Thanks
Would you do a keychron q1 HE mod guide? I see a lot of generic reviews of that keyboard saying roughly the same thing but no one really mods it
what is that square thing where you put all the different switches you have called?
Man its so hard to find a barebones, Wireless, 100%, DE-ISO keyboard. Keychron have them, but they are permanently out of stock...and I don´t want to buy an assembled one just to pay 50€ more for switches and keycaps that I will switch out anyway. I want tactile bumpy switches for work.
can you tune RGB to be warm white on keychron?
I bought second hand keychron v1 for $55 last year as my first custom keeb.
I dont really like the transculent plastic looks so i spray paint the top case white and i really like how it turned out :>
I really hope Keychron will make a Q-series battleship/cruiser model one day (keys: 122+, weight: >1 metric ton)
Ajazz A820 with yellow switches, white backlit for only 50 euro's=around 56 dollars. Connection on the left side. Why not on the back?
hey i wanted to ask you something. is it possible for you to fix my rk61 because the port came loose and i cant solder it. ive been watching your channel for a long time.
4 me = wired V & Q > Q Pro & MAX ... since they supports VIAL unlike the other lines .. VIAL is awesome
Hi, switch and click I love your videos, but could you please do an upgrade of the iloubee i87 keyboard
Thank you so much for this video! I was looking at their website and got lost pretty soon 😅 I ended up looking at the q13 pro alice 96 (i think) but that's quite expensive even as barebones. Then I got lost on the switches and keycaps and I gave up xD
can you do a sound test of keychron k2 max qmk? i need it
Keychron killed it by being one of the first to have a full lineup of ISO layouts, thus reaching a huge market worldwide. I honestly don't understand what other manufacturers are thinking, have they ever looked out of their windows, there's a whole world out there using ISO.... Epomaker has some, AKKO has very few....
I have the Q11 and I absolutely love it !
I keep buying earbuds for my tech channel and i thought i had a problem... But after seeing your table of keychrons I feel much better, brave to share with us 😂 also thank you for the info right now there is a sale on woot and this video will definitely help narrow it down
Very helpful!
Love my keychron k4 94% is fan-fraggin-tastic
Overall, I like it but there are just too many options which is both good and bad. They really need to simplify their lineup. The switch parameters are confusing if you don’t already know what they mean and the LED feature feels like a gimmick for kids. For productivity, I’d swap the DEL key and the backlight key because people are definitely going to hit that backlight mode key by accident.
🤔 thanks for the info, will give them a look
This helped me find a keyboard❤❤
this lady is hella back.
Quick tip: dont screw your screws in too tight if your keyboard has a plastic housing/case, you are going to strip the threads as did I.
Thanks a lot
I actually like my Lemokey P1 better than my Q1 V2. I did just get a Q1 Pro at MicroCenter for $70 closeout.
i love my keychron k8 TKL hotswappable with brown switches!!
Wow. Keyboard paradise. ❤❤❤
I have never been so confused in my life!
