- As most of you who follow our channel know, we took a trip to our cabin for Easter weekend this year (2018) - it's actually a tradition for our family, to spend every Easter there. And this year, we're taking you - our friends from TH-cam with us!
Being offgrid at our cabin means: no grid power, no running water (or well), no indoor bathroom, no sewer or septic, and not much cell-coverage. So for us, it really is a time to "unplug" from everything. And to reconnect with nature.
In this video, we'll share our trip to the cabin. A tour of the inside of the cabin, and some of the our property - the river front. We hope you enjoy seeing, where we love to spend our free time!

Beautiful place! I have to tell you that just by listening and watching that video I am all relaxed. The combination of the soundtrack, the soothing voices of both of you and the quietness of that place and man the sound of someone walking in the leaves in the forest.... almost fell asleep lol.

So quiet and peaceful. Birds chirping, owls hooting, turkey gobbles, and coyotes at night. Wouldn't wanna be anywhere else.
On rivers with sufficient depth of water beaver often don't build a dam. They will either have a lodge (beaver house) made of sticks, mud and sometimes a few rocks or have a den dug out in the riverbank. As for the trees they are cutting down- the smaller branches will be chewed off and deposited in their winter feed bed which looks like a brush pile in the water. Love your cabin getaway.
The Cabin is awesome and makes me miss our cabin we build it from logs from our property at home and we had it for about 20 years but with all the stuff is going on my husband’s health and everything we decided to sell it which helped us during this time of Covid we were able to pay off her house with it
I truly still miss that Cabin as awkward as it was I still loved it but we just couldn’t keep it onto the next big thing
Thanks for the tour, looks about the size of my uncle's cabin near Mecosta. We had that Shag carpet in brown in my living Room growing up. Grandpa still has his green shag carpet! Anyway, love the porch and could imagine the smell of the trees on the path to the river.

I have lived in Maine my whole life and as a child I grew up living a simple life.
I honestly would not have wanted it another way. As a child I would have said differently as we had outside bathroom and our running water was us kids running to the creek and getting it. Lol I happened across your videos videos today. I am in love with your content . I cant wait to watch more of them.

What a lovely place! Give me forests, hills, mountains, rivers and lakes over the ocean any day. I know you enjoy your time there. Totin' that water will surely keep you in shape! Is there enough sun for a small veggie garden? (I've only watched two cabin vids so far, the shower set up and this one). Thanks for sharing!

Growing up we had a cabin in the Utah Uinta Mountains that was off grid. It also had an outhouse. I was so afraid as a little girl to go out at night to the outhouse it was very close to the river. The cabin was right on the river. I miss that place so much

Wow. Watched your vid and recognized the road trip! We live in ann arbor and have vacation land on a lake near B31 and ryerson rd. Recognized the nunica exit and driving up the maple island curve. Had to do a double take rewind. Very cool place you have!!

Wow beautiful! I was born in alma mich 61 years ago. Was adopted at birth and have never seen my home in Michigan. For some reason the picture of your cabins in the winter made my heart hurt and cry because it seemed like a glimpse of heaven.

I've never been to the rapid river, but that whole side of the state is just beautiful

I couldn't even imagine the level of noise or the vast amount of people you must experience everyday. We live in the country in our day to day lives and the quiet at the cabin still shocks us.

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Beautiful cabin and love the property. I wish we had the acreage that you guys do. We have neighbors very close on both sides of us and our cabin is on a half acre. Can't complain too much though. Most of the time we have the river front to ourselves. Pretty neat that you have a bit of history on your land with that Old Girl Scout Camp.
Funding recreation property can be a lot of work, but so rewarding when you have a place to escape from everything at a moments notice. So glad we jumped at this.

@@1870s We are located in Washington State about a half hour west of Stevens Pass in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. We ended up turning our small cabin into our home. We're still trying to get everything worked out but we are getting there.
what an awesome get away! Reminds me of the month of October that my big boys (they were young then) and I spent completely off-grid a few years back on our family farm in Ohio. It wasn't nearly as nice as yours. lol

Beautiful spot! We're in MN and had too much snow even at Easter time to be able to get into our cabin. We got 18.5" more this past weekend, so don't know when we'll get up there! How are the woodticks in your area?

Out of staters just don't know what we have here beside Frankenmuth ir Traverse City.
I stay on the east coast (Lake St Clair) and usually venture up to Forester,Harbir Beach,Presque Isle.
Lake huron is majestic and there are so many beautiful forests to hunt and camp.
Michigan has so much to offer indeed!

We haven't but they have been spotted in our forest, not a huge population by any means. Oddly, I really hope to one day

I’m fascinated by bears but they also terrify me. I live in Australia and our dream is to move to Canada, and start a homestead. Our children are nearing their teens so it would have to happen in the next couple of years... Bears are the one thing that scare me most about the move.
My family has cottage on McClaren Mi Since the 1960's. My dad, both my brothers I grew up on that lake!!!! Small World isn't it.
