- My Mom converted a 12x12 shed to a small off-grid cabin in the woods. It has a 30 Watt solar panel and (4) 12 volt LED lights. She built the outhouse too !
It's like a Tiny House but smaller.

I'm not a poverty stricken Appalachian that I have to use an out house. That's too "Americana" for me. I didn't work my whole life for that!

Miranda Brooks the outhouse isn't for me either but for many it isn't about poverty. A lot of people living the tiny house movement want to live off grid and have composting toilets like Grandma does. She has solar too. It's smart to live below your means. These aren't poor "Appalachian" folks. They just enjoy outdoor life and their family.

You have a wonderful family. The way you all have a cabin each and the family together is fantastic. A family compound, that is so nice, each with their own place and privacy. I love the way you have competitions archery, shooting such a good way for the children to grow up in this day and age. Would love to see all the other cabins and the family get together and photo is wonderful. You all can be proud of what you all have built and Grandma your cabin and out house are lovely. Ok it's gorgeous but... Grandma needs a small bath house attached. And some curtains for privacy.
If the Lady wanted curtains, I'm sure she would have them. Not up to you to say what others need.
I was wondering how she bathed. I saw the small was basin but a good full shower or bath would be a must for me lol
I really love how the whole family lives so close to each others and in such beautiful place. I can't help thinking that this family is blessed by the Lord. Thus is almost exactly how I would like to live in my old age.
It seems to be seasonal so they may bathe in a lake or just sponge bath
What is the climate there? Does she live there full time?

No, our families are suffering here too. The problem is exacerbated with the siblings after the parents die. The ignoring, mental and verbal abuse abounds. The relatives do nothing.

You are a wonderful son with a beautiful wonderful mother. I love how your whole family Has honored her and allowed her life to be as it should be with her grandchildren sitting at her 'feet! She is truly honored as the matriarch of her family. You are doing a great Thing for your children also. This is what building a strong family means. I also honor the daughter in laws for being willing To do this. It reminds me of the story in the bible of Ruth and Naomi! The children's lives will be greatly enriched. 1. Your definitely Blessed...!! 2. I had wanted to live in a shed since 1990...when I first saw one in a HD catalog, it even had a loft. 3. I guess when it gets cold you can always live with one of your sons...since you don't have a shower or stove ?? In my late 70's all alone in a run down RV.......Worked all my life as a single parent but never made more than $4 an hr....Children...all live near each other with their own lives...... Nice to see what every parent should have as they age...which is love n caring children !!

What an absolutely gorgeous setup. I'd love to live like this, with or without children. Perfect to prepare for the final years. And you could even have a garden and some animals. The only thing I would do different would have been the "outhouse".

Perfect setup. I told my wife and kids I wanted to do something like this some time ago. There's 20 of us and get all on board at same time isn't working. Kids grow up fast, things change so fast, you are truly blessed.
