This cozy little place is really all humans need! People are so materialistic...I'm glad people are returning to simplicity. This is absolutely wonderful!! He's done an amazing job ... especially for not being a carpenter!!!

The UK is terrible for off grid living.. so move, it's really not that difficult to understand.

Probably the best Ryan’s th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

I'm a carpenter's apprentice and I'm working towards getting enough money and to raise my credit score to purchase some land and live the homestead life. Videos like this just push me to work even harder to get there, this is my dream. I want to build multiple cabins on my property for any family members who are interested in helping out or need a temporary place to stay.

Pay cash or don't buy it. Credit is slavery.
I don't know anyone who went offgrid with a loan and was successful.

Ran into your videos today and just wanted to thank you for taking the time in putting them for the whole world to see! You did an exceptional job with your home and I often tell young men that if I had to do it all over again, I would basically do what you've done.

Under cabinet lighting is a game changer. You can buy super slim small low energy use straps. They even come with a dimmer. Would darken up that corner counter spot. You'd be shocked at what a few under counter lights do. Ceiling lights are behind you when you're working at the counter and when you're standing working at the counter it creates shadows. Also ..nice little late night "cookie and milk" lighting.:)

Kyle, you and Ciera have done a great job in making your house a home. Thank you for the tour. It's great that you both, and Skeeter, have your own home away from the crap of a big city. You both should be so proud of your accomplishments in this area, of making a life for yourselves. Winter's almost around the corner again. Take care and be good!! May GOD continue to bless you all in your new life together out in the wild.

$10,000 wow ! Good Job. ❤ Makeing a suggestion . 😮 Mix 8 ;Parts Thompsons Wood Preservative for wood and Thompsons Cement Preservative for cement and concrete. With 1 part Mineral Spirits - #( 1 pint Mineral Spirits to a gallon of Thompsons ) or, a bit less Mineral Spirits is ok too depending on how much penetration you want. Also add 1 part paint to stain a bit. My hunt shacks and out houses are still there from 1990. ( 22 years ago )😮 Discovered this when I did my break wall with Thompsons cement Preservative. Neighbors painted theirs once a year. They lowered the lake level once a year to repaint the break walls. My was there the 5 years I lived there and was like new the day I left. Just sayin’

I'm a plumber I have some ideas for you. When you want a water system. Electric or propane tankless and you can a storage tank with 2 floats in it. Filling float to fill tank and the second float so the tank does run dry. Poly ran to it 3 ft Underground and stubbed up into the cabin with a heat trace and a pump inside for pressure once the main enters the cabin. You can get pumps that only run. When a fixture calls for water

We raised our family off the grid with composting toilets, rain catchment, solar power, wind generation and wood stoves. Spent 13 years doing that lifestyle. I wish we had done a vlog of all we did. It was an amazing yet challenging lifestyle. We moved to a new location and set up another off grid/on grid cabin but have the flushy toilet this time and I don't miss having to dump that toilet every 3 days.😄

about 8 years ago I bought a 10 acre piece here in Pinal Valley in Southern Arizona right on the Picacho Reservoir when I was working as a Traveling Tech for Indian Motorcycles, I worked in this area a couple times and fell in love with it because it's not what people think when they hear "Arizona", yes technically it's "Desert" but it's really not Desert either, it's alot more lush than the High Desert most commonly thought of. My Cabin is 16'x26' (416 Sq Ft.). I got lucky I don't need a bathroom, because Where I live there is a water reservoir that is also a state park that has bathrooms and shower facilities just a mile from my cabin so I jump on my truck and head over there.

Loved the tour Kyle. The dividing wall has made such a difference to the living space. Its gone from one room rustic to cute cozy home. Like you i dont watch TV apart from one show at 5.30 week nights. I get a lot of my inspiration from watching you tube.. its a wealth of information. If you cant find a “how to” video on something you know it cant be fixed 😂😂😂. Hope you and Cierra keep well, and look forward to you needing those extra bedrooms in the loft😉😉

Nice job but the only thing that I would do different is I probably would add on to the cabin and inside of that addition, I will also have a regular bathroom and I’ve seen where some people who have a cabin would have a 50 gallon or 100 gallon blue water tank inside the house up high and they would use that to flush the toilet and stuff like that. I would put in a septic tank. I would also build a small shed outside the house for the generator with an electric start button. Lol

Real life!!! This is absolutely the best!!! Grammy would so go back to your life style if I could.... I was raised without running water, didn't have it until after I got married when I was 18. Who would think a person would say such a thing, that I would go back if I could! Because the food was good and life was good. No BS no stress we just took care of one another! I miss it. OMGosh the toilet, what I wouldn't have given to have that when I was a kit, we had the outhouse. I didn't mind it except in the winter... it was so far from the house... gosh the memories... I love your set up and life! Stick with it, you will never regret it!

I've been watching your videos for quite a while and I have to say that I think you're a very talented young man. Everything is done to your liking and that's the important thing. It works for you! Not everyone could do that. Not everyone could live this way but you do and you're happy. Hats off for you! I find inspiration from you! Not all the youth of today feels entitled! The world needs more people like you! You live by the standards I believe in, K. I. S. S. Keep It Stupid Simple. No need to complicate life. You may not have all the "toys" other people think they need, but you know how to have fun and be creative and comfortable. Good job! Thanks for sharing this information with us! God bless you! Look forward to seeing your videos!

You guys should be incredibly proud having accomplished so much, that has been done so very well, at such a relatively young age. Curious about a few aspects of self-reliance that others in similar situations have struggled with. With winter around the corner & gardening season coming to an end, do you plan to do any big game hunting for deer, moose or elk to offset some of your food costs? How do you generate a sufficient income to support your lifestyle choice and the inevitable, albeit reduced costs of living off the grid? And how did you acquire the land on which to build these worthwhile & rewarding construction projects? Apologies in advance if you have covered these topics off in previous videos as I am a relative newcomer to your channel.

You are way ahead of most at your age, it took me until my 40's to realize what i wanted for my boys and i and more importantly what i didn't want for us.
We put our similar cabin build on our off grid 40 acres on hold to invest in a couple on-grid properties we are hoping to make some passive income from soon and then get back to building our off grid future.

Before you rebuild the front door, maybe entertain the idea of making an outside storm type door, there may be a lot of strong advantages. And you mentioned you may be building a porch roof, all the better for a full storm door giving you a double door system at the front.

I just wanted to say I saw your tour video I love it. I love the idea you done everything simple. Great Job. I built 16x28 shed in Naples Florida tiny homes are not allowed. I kept it very simple open floor plan i was forced to connect to grid. But I also use solar. Inside I use only a air fryers it does everything I need. I use my grill mostly. Shower is connected to well. Not connected to septic. Use composting toilet Nature Head. I will tell you this she house has survived Hurrican Erma cat 4 direct hit. And IAN cat 4 both times no damage. Power was out 5 days. Before storm hit I connect toilet vent fan to my battery bank of 2 batteries. I ran 14 hours on battery. Only using Generator at night. I plan on Building pretty much another tiny home in AZ I want chickens also. But being in city limit won't allow me to. Love the garden area. I done mine using 4x4 post and wooden fence al free from hurricane Erma lol still holding up strong. Great Job can't wait to see more.

Terrific job! Thanks for sharing your build/tour with the public. Have you considered composting to reduce trips to the dump? Have you considered fall/winter gardening by covering one or two of your garden squares with a clear top box-shape lid (hinged so you can lift to harvest at will)? I think you could grow more 'winter vegetables'. Thanks!

The homestead is looking very good Kyle. Been watching since the start of the remote log cabin build.

Nice tour. I have a recommendation for you. The kitchen sink faucet can become functional. It's a game changer. I put in a foot pump hooked up to a small plastic tank and a couple hoses. Super simple and fairly cheap. If you control the water output with your foot you will save water too. I bought the Whale GP4618 Babyfoot Manual Freshwater Galley Pump, Connects to ½-Inch Flexible Hose, 2.2 GPM Max Flow Rate. Works great off grid. I put in a quick disconnect so I can simply purge the water in the winter. It's just better to wash a dish with water control and both hands in the sink. Take care.

I’m absolutely impressed, this is the second video of yours I’ve watched, the first one was u releasing your chickens and giving a short dissertation on the fundamentals of off grid living. I’m absolutely impressed w your house, your log work shop, and the overall setup. I’m a 70 year old living in central Vt on 3 acres along a river. I’m in an Rv, 40’ garage model, it’s roomy, I use solar, though I’d like to find someone to dialog w on how to improve my amateur setup. This property does have city water, power and sewer, I use the water, i do have internet only, cell service alone is nonexistent, I supply my own power, the Rv is set up for 12 volts,it functions fine, I’ve sent out accolades in the past to TH-camrs, w nary a response back from anyone. Do you or your significant other ‘work’ away from the property, I’m sure it’s almost a full time job.good luck.

I love what ya'll have done. looks great! I would have left that wall out that divides the living and kitchen area and built a low/half wall instead to keep it open but that's just me...Good job though

I think for some of us, getting the land is a bigger issue. How did you get the property to begin with without a mortgage?

I'd rather have a modest mortgage and live in a comfortable and beautiful home. Your cabin is OK for camping, but not for full-time living. It is every man's duty to provide a decent comfortable home for his wife and children, otherwise he should stay single.

Man does not have duty to provide anything anymore. Women are equal and kids belong to the state.

You could easily put a large window in your door without having to build a new one. LEDs for the kitchen are efficient and cheap. Nominal power useage
