So one of the things we were taught in kindergarten back then was to actually communicate with the rice itself. Looks like she was telepathically asking the rice if its enough water, its ready or not and all those stuff. 10/10 normal Vietnamese stuff

    • @tranhuy4626

There will be no exact amount of water because each type of rice absorbs a different amount of water, so we can only estimate how much is enough. It will be a little wet or a little dry, if you are lucky the rice will be cooked well.

I didn't care for for vegetables as a kid but now I love it! I eat veggies more than other foods nowadays. Did u know that if ur trying to have kids to not eat bitter melon? I learn that from a meeting with the ivf doctors. Foods & things not to have when ur trying.

Back just before the pandemic, I visited Hanoi and there learned to make a steamed bitter melon dish in which the gourd is cut into chunks and the "rings" are stuffed with a tofu mixture. Exceptionally yummy! Back home in Toronto, the challenge is that bitter melon tends to packaged in plastic with several of them them, more than I can cope with. I'm going to try the stir-fry!

This is very typical homely family meal. Marinade generally lemongrass, fish sauce, sea salt and pepper..sometimes sugar if I feel…i use thicker chops that are more juicy than the thinner varieties commonly used and I often slice the chops then place it on a plate for the family to enjoy from. Broken rice is ok but normal jasmine rice is eaten most in my experience

Typical broken rice refers to the tip of the grain that fractures during processing, along with partially broken pieces of the pointy tip. It absorbs water faster, resulting in a softer texture, but it's not as sticky as whole grain rice. I love eating broken rice with pork fat cooked with green onions, where the fat becomes nice and crunchy, along with shredded pork skin, and steamed ground pork and eggs
