@@billd66 yeah but its more likely to be the gas reserves that are used when you're below 0 miles. Like my civic has gone a good 10-15 miles on 0, and I think it could do more but i dont really wanna test it
Because my dad was Penn growing up and got us stuck on the side of the road too many times, I grew up to be like Kim. I have enough problems in my life. I don't need running out of gas to be another one. 🤷♀️
I'm with Kim. In the summer, you are on empty at 1/4 tank. In winter, you're out at half tank. Get gas before you get to those levels. Will not be stuck in the cold with no heat, or in the heat with no air. Also, always fill up on your way home, never on your way out. 🥰✌️
That's me. With Forest Fires, earthquakes, etc... I always want to be able to hop in the car and be able to get at least a 100 miles away before I have to think about gas. Part of our safety plan, which is why my car is the safety car and hubby's car will be left behind.
Absolutely. Also have a complete tool kit, jumper cables, a blanket, and might as well carry some pre-mix coolant and motor oil. You can never be too prepared.
When the put that hiss in? That's when I knew this is real, and he was the idiot that gambles with range. The computer estimate is conservative for a reason. So it never overestimates, and to give you that hard nudge. Too many times when I was a starving student I had to drop in in neutral to coast, or very barely make it. Nope. working from home. Now I just top up at the end of the month. 3rd category.
So true though! I use this logic on my wife all the time, to no avail. Minutes lost: doing your hair, washing clothes because you only wear them one time before the hamper, drinking coffee before you leave the house, instead of from the car, etc.
I intentionally ran my car to empty going back and forth to work where I would never have to walk more than half a mile if I mistimed it. Coasted into the gas station and determined I had a 2 gallon reserve so now I know exactly how far I can push past it.
I live in the Midwest and my parents always taught me it’s a good idea to fill up when you get to a quarter of a tank, just in case you get lost and are never stuck in a cold, stalled car. I do go lower then a quarter tank now but I get worried when the gas light comes on. Could definitely relate to Kim!
Yes! Grew up in very rural MN. Was told to never let it go under half a tank in winter. It was also nearly 15 miles to the nearest gas station from our house.
I grew up in (and still live in) the mountain west and was always taught that you should never go below half a tank (especially during winter), because you never know when you are going to be stranded and need the fuel for heat (and this is advice that has saved my bacon before).
Grew up in the country in Oregon and we all know that all 4 seasons can happen in the span of a few hours. My dad instilled it in me to never go below 1/4 tank and in the winter 1/2 tank because you never know.
Lol - I WAS a Penn until a few years ago. We had a 100 year flood. I had 1/8 tank of gas and only 1 gas station between me and home - 12 miles away. Work sent everyone home early and I got to the gas station, where the line grew SO FAST. Took me 5.5 hours to get home - the few roads that were still open looked like parking lots. I had to let go of Penn that day and travel to the other side, where every tank is at least half full.
My husband also uses anything behind the driver's seat for a trash can, and tells me he "always cleans out his car once a year, whether it needs it or not!" LOL
Team Kim. Never ever let your gas get below 1/4 tank. There are carburetor demons in that last quarter and they will gunk up your engine for fun. Plus, I live out in the boonies and we don't have a gas tank on every corner. Heck, we don't even have corners.
Worse - most cars today have an in tank electric fuel pump, that is cooled by the fuel it's sitting in. You dramatically shorten the life of the pump when it is exposed to air. So try to never let it get below a quarter tank.
@@machinist7230 as long as you’re not out of fuel, it’s still pulling cool fuel through the pump…. Otherwise every fluid pump would overheat if not submerged.
Loved the last dialogue on feeling like you won some points when you put more gas in than the manufacture says it holds. Also feeling the love when you keep driving on the red gas light past several gas stations to save 10 cents a gallon at costco gas.
I’ve had the gas light come on twice and I have freaked out both times, trying to find a gas station as fast as I can. My mom is like, it’s fine, it’s just a warning. And I’m like, no I’m gonna die.😂 I’m so Kim! Thanks Holderness!!❤️
@@margaretImhappy yes and with my luck the gas station will be closed, broken, full and I have somewhere to be too. This actually happened the 2 times I waited. So I’m not risking it anymore 😂
My dad was team Penn. we once had to coast down the road from crater lake to have enough gas to get to a gas station in a small town 5 minutes before it closed. I never go below a quarter tank
I noticed I had 7 miles until empty the other day and I was like, "ah, I got plenty of time." Pulled into the station at 0. Nothing beats that excitement! 😂
When Penn was tossing things Willy-nilly into the backseat, was anyone else tearing their hair out? 😂 Just yesterday, I emptied about three things out of my car garbage while the tank was filling up from halfway. 😂😂😂 #TeamKim
In my defense, I generally have a gas discount based on grocery store points, so it behooves me to get as much gas as possible on the “payoff” trip. The emptier the tank, the more I save! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 😂
The low fuel light is there to prevent the fuel pump in the fuel tank from premature failure due to cavitation. Having the fuel pump replaced is an expensive repair. So it may be fun to see how far one can go once the low fuel light is on, it is DEFINATELY not good for your vehicle. The time you save not stopping for gas will be eaten up taking your vehicle to the shop and waiting to get it back. Meanwhile...the video is hilarious, good job. Go Kim!!
Totally me and my partner. We head out to my sister's house, an hour away, and he waits for the gas light to come on, nearly causing me to have a panic attack!
Two things. First, the warning light indicated about 50-60km(30+ miles) of range, but most importantly the fuel pump that is in the tank is at the point where it's not being properly cold my fuel anymore. This is why it is best to fuel up before that light comes on. Second, when the pump shuts off at fueling, the tank is at full. Adding more to round up the dollar is dumping liquid fuel into the vapor recovery system of the car or posable the pumps vapor recovery system.
I'm a little more like Penn on this one. While I've never run out of gas, I have been known to push the limit of my car. I've begged, pleaded and promised that we'll find a gas station soon, just hang in there! 🤪 The clearing of the front seat so everything is in the back, totally me! 😂 That being said, I will also top off my tank around the 1/4 full mark if I think of it and I'm out. Thanks for all you do! ❤
I am definitely with Kim. The feeling from driving a clean car with a filled up gas tank…AWESOME!😂. Her response to seeing that the car was filled above F was hilarious.
I’m totally Penn in this matter. One thing you didn’t cover on this was driving all over town to find the station with the cheapest gas. Fortunately the Gas Buddy app can eliminate the driving all over town part, but I will admit that when the gas is getting low I will plan to be doing something in the part of town where the cheapest gas is so I can fill-up there. 😊
@@melhenline8438 does he keep the gas mileage gauge displayed to try to get the best mileage possible and skip drive throughs and find ways around traffic to keep that mileage up? 😁
YES! I always check out which is the cheapest fuel station (in Australia lol) and thankfully the cheapest is usually the one where I have dance classes on Saturday, so I'm always like, Ah yea, she can wait until Saturday.
One reason not to let your tank get too empty is that the fuel pump is electric. It typically sits in the tank and is cooled by the gasoline surrounding it. Running the car on fumes lets the pump get too warm and shortens its life. Changing out the fuel pump often involves draining and dropping the fuel tank--a PITA for the mechanic (especially if that mechanic is you!) and a huge labor bill.
Fuel pumps tend to fail when tank is full… Why? Well, because of the abuse it went through getting you to that pump without enough liquid to keep it cool.
Daddy was a mechanic and he said don't let it get below a quarter tank so I don't. My husband has run out of gas even after we got a credit card specifically for that purpose. 🤣
Definitely Penn. Literally yesterday I realized I had made like 3 trips with the gas light on, and was a little uncertain I could make to my next errand. Tried it anyway! Success is sweet
From a mechanical standpoint, you're not supposed to let a gas tank get that low. Between condensation inside making there be water, and possibly sucking in air, running your tank until the light comes on is one of the worst things you can do to you fuel system. And some vehicles (Chevy) you don't want it to get below 1/2 due to how the fuel pump works.
This is my husband and me for sure! The only thing missing is when Penn is finally forced to get gas but drives ten miles out of the way because his app says there's a gas station that is two cents cheaper across town!
I identify with both of you, depending on the situation. I used to be like Penn, but after I became a mom, I changed. Stranding myself is one thing, stranding my baby ain't happening.
Same! Just went on a trip, driving across New Mexico, I was like, "We need gas." My husband said, "It's a 1/4 tank. We don't need gas yet." I said, "It's New Mexico. And we have a baby." An hour later he was like, "Why haven't I seen a gas station yet?" Always prepared.
20-year master mechanic from Michigan here. The gas warning light comes on between 2-5 gallons left, depending on the manufacturer. See the owners manual. When the gauge reads "E," that is the bottom that the vehicle can physically read the volume of fuel left in the tank. I've seen some vehicles come in with a gauge below the E. This is actually a fault with the measurement in the component called the "fuel level sending unit." There is a reserve, but at most, it's a quart. Love your videos, thanks.
Penn is the freaking man! I've coasted in on fumes and it's one of my favorite stories to tell. the red-light almost got me but the yield sign and traffic flow worked perfectly.
I laughed out loud too much at this. I'm mostly a Penn (proud when I coast into a gas station at 0 miles left and take a picture) but trying to be more like Kim. Full tank, full heart! I have a friend who fills up as soon as it's below half. He must waste a lot of time.
Nothing truer on the internet 🤣 I'm definitly Penn! My husband did the long-distance thing for 4 years. I was in LA and he was in Phoenix, so we would drive that route all the time. Gas is WAY more expensive in CA than it is in AZ (like 30+ c/gallon more), so I always made it my goal to roll into the first AZ gas station on empty. One time I almost cut it too close- the low fuel light turned on with easily 30-35 miles left to go... AT NIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT. My grandpa always said "you've got 30 miles easy!" when that light came on, so I just crossed my fingers and thought of him 🤣 Thankfully, he was right, and I was able to roll into AZ on fumes and fill up with that glorious, cheap gas 😁
I actually read my manual. Light comes on and the car indicates 35 miles left. Manual says once indicator says 0, there is a gallon left in the tank, which means another 30 miles. In my area, that's one or two more trips, one of those to the gas station.
😂😂I’m literally at a gas station right now. This is hilarious and so true! If my husband is driving, it’s inevitable that at some point we’re turning the AC off to make it to the gas station. 🙄
Kim All Day! 👍🏽 Kim is my hero & kindred spirit when she said: “Full Tank, Full Heart, Can’t Lose”! and Luv-Luv: “It’s past “F”! I love being God’s Favorite”! 😂 You guys are so funny!! 😝
Loved this! If there is an in between type, that would be my mom. She won't let her tank get under 1/2 full no matter what. She will literally stop everything to get to the gas station. LOL
Im like Penn. Chucking the rubbish in the back and waiting for rain to wash car for me. Lol. "The red light is where you feel alive" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so true though!
Apart from that industrial style vacuum clearer part, Kim and I share a lot of low-fuel situation traits 😅 PS end of video part....gee, that neighbour of yours pops up everywhere! 😂
And what about filling the gas tank all the way vs only putting a certain dollar amount? I think this applies too 😂😂 I’m definitely Kim in this scenario as soon as I see the gas light come on I gotta go to the gas station.
I friggin LOVE IT when I hit an even number when filling up gas. Mostly because it helps my crow brain when I budget. Bonus points when the even number also matches an "as even as you can get" number of gallons, too. I get really nervous when the tank starts getting low (I've let the light come on) because growing up in cold weather, you don't want it to get below a quarter of a tank. Also, in case of the zombie apocalypse, you're going to need a full tank to flee.
Lol I'm Penn on this one! I use that same line, "we can drive another 30 miles!" I use it so often that my teenage daughter now sarcastically says, "we can drive to California and back. "....we live nearly 2000 miles from CA!
I am totally like Penn. I only ran out of gas once and that was because I got a leak in my fuel line. I have had the empty light on this week. I used to love filling up my 11 gallon tank with 11+ gallons! (now I have a 20 gallon tank and I can't afford to fill that as often).
Hilarious! I am in the in-between category. Most of the time, I fill up between 1/4 tank and empty. Sometimes, I push the envelope. The one time I ran out of gas in my life was last year. The close call was on a recent trip when I didn't pay attention or hear the reminder, and I was frantically searching for a gas station with my sleeping child in the car. I found one, and I'll never do that again.
I really enjoyed this I had a terrible stress headache and it feels better now because you made me smile 🥰💕 Also my hubby and I are a mix I’m the one who takes the gas to empty and he’s the one who doesn’t clean out his car much. 🤪
Growing up, my mom was Penn. The gas light was always on and she would always say “oh we’re fine, we have like 50 miles once the light comes on.” There was no way of keeping track how many we had already driven like how cars nowadays can show you how many miles you have left. It gave me extreme anxiety
My mom, too!! The car actually died on us when I was little but we just happened to be on the downhill side of the road and coasted into the station at the bottom of the hill. I was freaked and mom just laughed ! So I NEVER let the warning light go on! I’m scarred for life. Because of that.
She was doing what I do. She was probably basing it on her odometer. Example: if she's at 300 miles and the car can go to 350 typically, then you have 50 miles. If I'm at 325 in my car, I know I have 14 miles to get gas because I have a gallon in the tank. 😂 I haven't run out of gas, but I have coasted in if I'm really close.
My worry is that by the time I get down to the point where I really need gas, I'm going to be running late and won't have time to make it to a gas station.
I am Penn and hubby is Kim. When the gas light goes on, I have about 20 miles before I am in trouble. I usually gas up if the light goes on, since my kids are usually with me. The accuracy of this video was spot on.
Oh, God! I am SO Team Kim!!! I honestly do think it's more of a gender thing, but I guess your research is telling you it crosses over as well. Love, Love, LOVE your videos!!! They always bring a smile to my face! 😁😁
well, factor in that whole scene on home improvement where jill taylor tells tim taylor that when the 'check engine' light comes on she's all: 'i thought it was just a warning... and... i thought it would {eventually} just become more frequent or get louder..' that whole scene is supposed to be a diss on women, based on the fact that 'we' don't concern ourselves with potential mechanical failures. in reality, ignoring engine warning signs is about hubris. or ignorance. or laziness. it's funny how men weigh heavily on the side of 'just wait: it's bait'. not trying to flame at all or at all and this has been a fun thread...
Definitely more like Penn on this one, but having to sit on I40 with accidents has made me start getting gas a little bit earlier. I really don’t want to run out of gas on the interstate.
This is so funny because I am both of you! I always get gas before I'm on E and I love being past F and getting even $$ on the pump. I clean out the inside of my car at the gas station but sometimes I just toss the stuff. I never want to wash the outside of my car so I am always waiting for Nature's car wash. I love to put in the addresses for GPS but frequently ignore the voice guidance corrections and go off "the grid". I have been known to drive with multiple warning lights on but I try to stay on top of those " oil change" stickers "low tire air pressure lights. So I guess I have a split- personality!
Both my wife and I fill up before 1/4 tank but my car is far more likely to be clean inside. In my case that's probably because my parents were both Marines and they both kept their cars immaculate. What's unique about us is that we've been married 14 years and she has physically put gas in a vehicle at most five times in 14 years. I or someone else have done every other fill up in that time. She now insists she's forgotten how to put gas in a car and that I always need to do it.
In 2003, I was in Toronto. The blackout happened when I was with a friend downtown. For those who don't remember the blackout affected a good portion of the NE USA and Ontario. If you don't have enough gas in the tank, you aren't going to get it filled up at a gas station. Saw so many cars at the gas station that were mid fill-up and couldn't leave because they couldn't pay or still didn't have enough gas in the tank. Gas pumps work on electricity so people who were low on gas didn't have a way to fill up or get home. Busses were still somewhat working. If they still had enough diesel in them. I managed to get back to the hotel because the GO busses were still working. My brother and I were supposed to get a drive to the airport but my Bro in Law doesn't keep the car filled up so again we had to take the GO bus to the airport. Wife and I always have the mind set that the car should always be in a state that it can be usable in any emergency. We live in an earthquake zone so if, heaven forbid, there is an earthquake or whatever catastrophe and we have to get out of dodge, we should be able to. We were lucky in Toronto that it was during warm weather. I'm sure some people in Texas that had the power outages in the cold snap they had 2 years back which caused weeks of no power were probably cursing that their truck/car was running on empty.
Totally Kim. My mother used to drive 35 miles to work, and in the winter she insisted the tank NEVER fall below 1/2. That's living in the north for you. Quarter tank? Time for heart palpitations!
2:28 Everyone can relate to this. My car if I fill it full, it doesn't actually drop below full until after 2 gallons have been burned. (By the way do NOT keep pumping after it clicks off, there's a canister that traps gas fumes when you refill your tank and "topping off" can actually cause liquid gas to go into the canister which over time isn't good.)
I used to be like Penn. I worked for a car dealership and all the car experts there said that the low fuel warning light was when you're on your last gallon so I figured I had my MPG rating to get to the next gas station. Had a few white knuckle situations as I found out exactly how inaccurate fuel sensors actually are. Modern cars now have a "remaining range" display that will tell you how far the car estimates it can go with what it thinks it has for fuel. So now as long as the range is higher than the amount of miles left in my trip, or the nearest gas station, I don't feel I need to stop. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've said "five miles of range left and the nearest gas station is four miles away so I'm good" in those cars.
I'm that rare in-between. I do a lot of long road trips where sometimes it's a couple hundred miles between gas stations, or where I'm passing through small towns where the gas stations close at night, and on those trips I never let it get to a quarter-tank. But when I'm driving in my city and I know there's a gas station every half mile, I don't bother to get gas until the light comes on.
Damn. I'm Penn all the way!! 😂😂😂 I literally said some of the same things he said in this video, line by line. Including the coaching my car along to get us to the gas station! This afternoon was my 3rd (unintentional) drive in my car on "E". It got me from work yesterday, to running an errand afterwards. Then, to yoga downtown this morning 😅 But, she made it to the gas station after!
I'm Team Kim, and so is my husband. We will fill up at half a tank. Back in 1986, we were stationed in Germany with the Army. We had a used beater car that the gas gauge only worked from full to half full, and after that it was a guessing game on how much gas was in the tank because the needle was stuck at half. We lived about an hour away from the Army base, and one time my husband had an overnight duty (it started on a Saturday morning and went until 5am Sunday morning) and he forgot to fill up the tank before starting work. He had enough gas to make home on Sunday morning at 6am, but I had to drive a friend back to the Army base to start work at 7am. I made it to the base, but the on base gas station did not open until 9am on Sunday, so I knew there was a German Esso station that opened at 730am just under 10km down the road heading in the direction I needed to go to get back home. Well I made it about 5km and ran out of gas. Also it was in the winter, and there really wasn't anyone out driving around that early on a Sunday morning. I was sitting on the side of the road, freezing cold and crying, not knowing what to do. We didn't have cellphones back then, and it was on the outskirts of town. I didn't even have a gas can that I could have used, even if I had walked the 5km to the gas station. Luckily for me, an older German gentleman stopped to help me. He didn't speak English, and I didn't speak German, but he gave me a ride to the gas station, bought a gas can and filled it with a few gallons of gas, then drove me back to my car and put the gas into the tank. He then followed me all the way to the gas station to make sure I made it safely. I was able to fill the tank, and once I got back home an hour later, I really let my husband have it LOL From that point on, once our car got to half a tank, we have always filled it up.
Love you guys. Just 2 things I thought I would share.... having been the victim of both. 1. the fuel pump in most vehicles is located in the tank, being bathed by nice, cool gasoline... unless it isn't and then it will burn out if constantly left running uncooled by fuel. (which is usually about 1/4 tank level) 2. Overfilling your tank (just stop when the pump does) will put gas back down your fuel vapor purging system (if your car has it) and eventually plug it up and cause a check engine light to come on , and you will have to sit there clicking like a cup of gas at a time into the tank because the new pumps will feel the pressure difference and not let the gas flow freely from the pump. *super annoying and people behind you will actually hate you.
I am reminded of that Seinfeld episode! LOL! I think Kramer was with someone trying sell him the car he was driving... I absolutely seek a gas station soon after realizing the tank was that low after I ran out of gas in the middle of a system of on ramps and off ramps without a gas station nearby.
I have been both people in my life. 😂 The tank light comes on at different points in for each vehicle but you can look it up for your own. My reserve is around 35 miles after the light turns on. I used to have a manual and totally used the mountains to coast nearly double the amount I should've been able to drive. More than one occasion I should've been stranded but was able to just barely make it in. Now I have 3 kids and live in a harsh winter climate so I try not to get to a quarter tank. My husband has always been the type to fill at half a tank.
I'm the middler!! I hate letting my tank get below a quarter tank because it's "bad for the engine" and I'll totally start looking for a gas station immediately. I also fill up before cold weather or sitting for a long time so condensation doesn't build. At the same time, if I'm in a hurry and running late, and/or there isn't a gas station on my route, I will absolutely risk it, and you definitely can get two more errands in on a quarter tank, and the 30 miles on the empty light is for sure correct.
In my younger years I ran out of gas twice -- once on an LA freeway in the 1970's during the gas embargo (when you could only gas up every other day, depending on the last digit of your license plate and you had to wait in lines more than a block long to even GET gas on your day) and once about 15 years later when I discovered my fuel gauge was broken. Now I gas up at the half-tank mark - especially when on a road trip in the boonies where I don't know when the next gas station will be that actually has gas in stock when I need it!
I’m a little bit like Penn talking to my gps driving! 😂Yesterday it wanted to take me further than necessary, I was saying, No, I’m going this way, deal with it! 😂 I was only using it for time, I knew the way!
“Full tank, full heart, can’t lose.” 😂😂😂
Such a great line!! 😂
I was hoping someone else picked up on that!
"I'm going to get 25 gallons in a 22 gallon tank" That had me dying. Too funny....
The "That's a high score!" part was what really made it though.
Or the station's ripping you off. It's been known to happen.

I’ve been doing pens way for 20 years. Never ran out of gas. I’m a mechanic an pen is right their is somewhere between 20-40 miles at E.
Same. I've been in cars that ran out of gas growing up. Very stressful. We always had a gas can in the car.
Never had a car fully run out of gas before, but I do keep at least a half gallon spare in the back
EXACTLY.
Both my husband and I are ‘Kims’. But here in the North, we're also taught to never let the gas tank get below half because of condensation.
I'm with Kim. In the summer, you are on empty at 1/4 tank. In winter, you're out at half tank. Get gas before you get to those levels. Will not be stuck in the cold with no heat, or in the heat with no air. Also, always fill up on your way home, never on your way out. 🥰✌️
I fill up in either directions, since I have morphed into a Kim.
Yep. Keep it full ,costs the same to run on the top 1/4 tank and it does the bottom 1/4 .
I keep mine no lower than half all year round.

Penn's "minutes lost per week" is pure ADHD logic at its best 🤣
So true though! I use this logic on my wife all the time, to no avail. Minutes lost: doing your hair, washing clothes because you only wear them one time before the hamper, drinking coffee before you leave the house, instead of from the car, etc.
That is 1000% why I never fill up until I've been on E for like four trips. ADHD is fun y'all
Omg never thought of that but yeah, it's wasted time!
minutes lost per week. Hours lost per AAA call
Yes! Grew up in very rural MN. Was told to never let it go under half a tank in winter. It was also nearly 15 miles to the nearest gas station from our house.
Same. Being stuck somewhere cold AND out of gas is not fun. It's just as easy to fill up the top half of the tank as it is to fill the bottom half.
I grew up in (and still live in) the mountain west and was always taught that you should never go below half a tank (especially during winter), because you never know when you are going to be stranded and need the fuel for heat (and this is advice that has saved my bacon before).
Yup! Michigander here, and I always try to keep a good amount in the tank.
Grew up in the country in Oregon and we all know that all 4 seasons can happen in the span of a few hours. My dad instilled it in me to never go below 1/4 tank and in the winter 1/2 tank because you never know.
“I can just wait for rain!” 😂😂😂😂😂 I’m in tears.
That’s what I do
Lol - I WAS a Penn until a few years ago.
When Penn starts throwing things in the back seat... this is exactly the way I "clean" my car 🤣
My husband also uses anything behind the driver's seat for a trash can, and tells me he "always cleans out his car once a year, whether it needs it or not!" LOL
I’m a female PennLol
Bingo, people who don't know anything about cars or don't care about taking care of their cars are Penn. Kim FTW in this!
I never let mine get below 1/2
@@machinist7230 as long as you’re not out of fuel, it’s still pulling cool fuel through the pump…. Otherwise every fluid pump would overheat if not submerged.
I don’t do long trips in my truck so I fill it up at 3/4 tank 😂
Loved the last dialogue on feeling like you won some points when you put more gas in than the manufacture says it holds. Also feeling the love when you keep driving on the red gas light past several gas stations to save 10 cents a gallon at costco gas.
I'm definitely Kim in this scenario but I start to panic and look for a gas station once I hit a half tank of gas.
Totally!
That's us. Absolutely drives me nuts since my husband will run it empty & I hate it. Honestly stresses me out.
Half-tank refueling is a good safety net.
I’m Kim
Yes! I treat the half tank mark as the Empty and want to keep refilling the top half of the tank.
I love how they are so different but still manage to co-exist and even compliment each other.
I’ve had the gas light come on twice and I have freaked out both times, trying to find a gas station as fast as I can. My mom is like, it’s fine, it’s just a warning. And I’m like, no I’m gonna die.😂 I’m so Kim! Thanks Holderness!!❤️
Minimum 30 more miles when that light comes on.
Same! 😂
Never saw a car that goes that low until empty... usually after 30 it doesn't read anymore
@@CbrF4i600cc 2018 Corolla. Comes up with a low gas warning but still reads.
Easy to beat that excitement: try using the same logic with an altimeter when skydiving.
(Seriously, DON'T do it!)
I feel so called out on my car "cleaning" techniques! Go Team Penn!
Team Penn!!
When Penn was tossing things Willy-nilly into the backseat, was anyone else tearing their hair out? 😂 Just yesterday, I emptied about three things out of my car garbage while the tank was filling up from halfway. 😂😂😂 #TeamKim
😂😂 that’s my way of keeping my car “clean”!
In my defense, I generally have a gas discount based on grocery store points, so it behooves me to get as much gas as possible on the “payoff” trip. The emptier the tank, the more I save!
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 😂
Same!!!! 😂
I just realised why I am the way I am... 😮
Yes!
@Jason Shoots In the 54 countries of the Commonwealth we just call that 'spelling'. 😉
Yes, I am the same way. 25 gal tank, $25 savings. I usually text my receipt to relatives with that good news.
Go Kim!!
I am Kim ALL DAY!! ⛽️ 😂
You are my people!
Same
Totally me and my partner. We head out to my sister's house, an hour away, and he waits for the gas light to come on, nearly causing me to have a panic attack!
It's so great to see now that I am not alone. My family would like me to believe I am the only person on this PLANET who get gas at 1/2 tank.
Me too!
That being said, I will also top off my tank around the 1/4 full mark if I think of it and I'm out.
You and my husband could be best friends! 😄
@@melhenline8438 does he keep the gas mileage gauge displayed to try to get the best mileage possible and skip drive throughs and find ways around traffic to keep that mileage up? 😁
I’m definitely camp Penn.
YES! I always check out which is the cheapest fuel station (in Australia lol) and thankfully the cheapest is usually the one where I have dance classes on Saturday, so I'm always like, Ah yea, she can wait until Saturday.
I love the Gas Buddy app!
Lmao this is definitively myself and husband! He's like "The gas light JUST came on, and you can go at least 15 more miles when it says 0" 😭
That's when you ask him how long it has been on 0.
Me too!
Freaks. Me. Out.
It makes you feel more alive lmao
Empty and on a third errand? Oh well, In for a penny in for a pound!
Yeah, now that I have kids I am more likely to fill up on a 1/4 tank especially in winter.
Same! Just went on a trip, driving across New Mexico, I was like, "We need gas." My husband said, "It's a 1/4 tank. We don't need gas yet." I said, "It's New Mexico. And we have a baby."
An hour later he was like, "Why haven't I seen a gas station yet?" Always prepared.
This is so weird because usually I relate to Kim but I’m with Penn on this one! Gotta take that tank as far as it can go! 😂
I’m so Penn’s character! 😅😂
I’m like Penn and my husband is like Kim. He’s so much like Kim that he fills up MY tank before the light is even close to going on!
Same 😂
😂 That's because he doesn't want to deal with, "honey, I'm out of gas on the side of the road, help!"
Same! 😂
"It's like a new high score" 🤣🤣
In my 22 years of driving, I think I could probably count on one hand the times I have filled my tank before the light came on. 😅
My husband is soooo like Kim and I’m sooo Penn !! Thx for the giggles! Love u both! ❤❤❤❤
Nothing changes when you have an electric car. My wife loves to top off the charge while I run it down as low as I can 😂
Turn off radio and AC, turtle starts, been there...
@@zaphodbeeblebrox2911 yup
I am definitely like Penn with gas (many times still driving on "Zero miles till empty"). 😆 But I'm like Kim about the inside being neat and clean!
Loved this! If there is an in between type, that would be my mom. She won't let her tank get under 1/2 full no matter what. She will literally stop everything to get to the gas station. LOL
I definitely relate to Pen even with cleaning the front seat by tossing everything into the back. lol. My husband is Kim.
That is a perfect representation of me and my husband … in EVERY area of this skit!!!
Im like Penn. Chucking the rubbish in the back and waiting for rain to wash car for me. Lol. "The red light is where you feel alive" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so true though!
I’m never in the backseat it might as well not exist 😂
This is too funny! I'm sitting in our car right now with a 1/8th of a tank and I'm panicking and my hubby saying we have plenty and don't worry. 😂😫
Apart from that industrial style vacuum clearer part, Kim and I share a lot of low-fuel situation traits 😅
PS end of video part....gee, that neighbour of yours pops up everywhere! 😂
Why do I relate to Kim so much in every way. And somehow my husband is just like Penn
He is right! When the light goes on you have about fifty miles left. Let the tank down to empty! Who has the time to stop for gas all the time!?!?!
And what about filling the gas tank all the way vs only putting a certain dollar amount? I think this applies too 😂😂 I’m definitely Kim in this scenario as soon as I see the gas light come on I gotta go to the gas station.
There's a gas light?😉
In my house its complete opposite. I am like her and my wife is like him... OUCH she hit me! LOL
Cars are to noisy do you want to be mauled by zombies? Good for fleeing at the beginning though I guess
I really enjoyed this I had a terrible stress headache and it feels better now because you made me smile 🥰💕
Also my hubby and I are a mix I’m the one who takes the gas to empty and he’s the one who doesn’t clean out his car much. 🤪
Full tank, full heart, can't lose -- that says it all wonderfully!
I used to be like Penn but then I ran out of gas too many times and now I truly believe that I'm an in-between person.
Love how when Penn pulled in, he was on the wrong side of the pumps! 😂
Definitely more like Penn on this one, but having to sit on I40 with accidents has made me start getting gas a little bit earlier. I really don’t want to run out of gas on the interstate.
My ex keeps warning me about this, and yet…
1:51 full tank full heart can’t lose❤
I love being gods favorite 😂😂😂
I agree with Penn! My hubby is a 'if the tank is under half you need to fill up"..I'm a "well I know how far my car will go" it's always funny!
I love these two. I think they'll be even bigger one day soon, as in talking to the Jimmys on late night.
“I love being Gods favorite” ~ Kim Holderness 💅
3:08 that light means “you know how much SEDIMENT is in the bottom of this tank, sir?!?” Fuel pump NIGHTMARE!
So funny, guys! Thank you! And relatable...another factor in our own marriage...the gas points! Lol😂😅
I just love the way you guys make ANYTHING funny! Thanks for giving me a laugh when I'm not feeling good and stuck at work!
I am reminded of that Seinfeld episode! LOL! I think Kramer was with someone trying sell him the car he was driving... I absolutely seek a gas station soon after realizing the tank was that low after I ran out of gas in the middle of a system of on ramps and off ramps without a gas station nearby.
Lol “the gas light isn’t a warning - more like a gentle nudge” That’s how I feel about the gas light
So the truth in our lives! Whenever I ride with hubby and hear the ding of the low fuel light.... I'm like, ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!😅
I have been both people in my life.
Best parts were the gas pump high score and the minutes saved logic. My hubs and I are both Penn. 😂
Totally Kim. I could not imagine being Penn living in Minnesota. I would be so anxious in the winter.
Yep between 1/4 and 1/2 for me!! Also excited when it’s little more than full 😂
"I love being God's favorite" just killed me! 😆
I know how many miles I can go with the warning light on. 😂
I’m a little bit like Penn talking to my gps driving! 😂Yesterday it wanted to take me further than necessary, I was saying, No, I’m going this way, deal with it! 😂 I was only using it for time, I knew the way!
