    Happy you're enjoying the air intake!! I've worked at APR for 2 years and sure happy to come into work everyday! I'm getting the GLI Autobahn for my next ride🫡

    I called the splash guards “Rally Art” but I meant Rally Armor. Links for all the parts discussed in the video are in the description.
    I do not have any exhaust modifications to the car; just the intake. I showed the sound from behind the car anyway because there is a throatier sound after the intake - but that’s really just the engine sounding louder. Still, you can hear a slight difference overall. The real sound differences are when accelerating under load and letting off the throttle; you can hear the the turbo and the intake sounds so much better now.
    Also, sport mode does pipe exhaust sound into the interior but I did not use that mode for most of the interior shots filmed here - so as to not distract from the natural sounds. After upgrading the intake, you will not hear a difference to the interior exhaust amplification because the microphone for that system is further back in the exhaust where the intake noises do not reach. You’ll only hear the intake at relatively low speeds while accelerating under load. At highway speed, it’s mostly washed out by wind noise and the lower load distributed by the longer gearing.
    Let me know what exhaust or other mods I should focus on next!

    I have the same GLI, even the same color, but mine is 2023, am I gonna have any trouble with the warranty if I install a K&N cold air intake kit? it hasn't its first oil change yet, greetings from Mexico.

    • @AutoN8GT
      @AutoN8GT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! I cannot speak on behalf of VW warranty administration, but I have had my car into the dealership for warranty claims as recently as 40k miles without issue. To be fair, none of my claims have had to do with anything directly related to the engine or intake.
      I have noticed low oil light comes on between oil changes and I have to add a quart of VW-approved oil. I cannot say whether that is attributed to the new intake.
      APR is a good brand for VW bolt-ons. I am not sure if a K&N intake would cause more scrutiny or not.

    What’s the purpose of upgrading the intake?

    • @AutoN8GT
      @AutoN8GT  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      For me it was a cheap and easy install that helped the car sound cooler. It does not add HP and the car has forced induction already so the factory intake does not hinder performance (meaning this isn’t a performance upgrade by itself). The APR intake in particular has an OEM fitment like the stock filter in a box except it uses an open design with a conical filter that has more surface area to improve filtration despite being “open” - so essentially it just lets more engine noises out.

      @ cool, just got my 21 GLI 6spd. I planned on making a channel for it.

    • @AutoN8GT
      @AutoN8GT  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Congrats! It’s a great car. It shares a chassis with the MK7 GTI and has a lot of aftermarket support. There’s a lot you can do with it for a channel. I just made a video about adding universal splash guards lol

    Does something like this add any horsepower? I have 2017 gli

    • @AutoN8GT
      @AutoN8GT  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it doesn’t add power. It would help with a tune however which I have not done. I feel like there was better throttle responsiveness but not sure if that’s just my mind playing tricks on me because of the sound you can hear a lot better. With a tune, you can take advantage of the superior flow (apparently) but it already has forced induction with the turbo so idk. Bottom line, no appreciable difference with an intake alone.

    That "Secondary air intake " is a drain for moisture out of the original airbox , that thing is doing nothing other than begging to get caught in your fan.

      These cars use a MAP. The only issue an open intake can cause on these is heatsoak, which a good intercooler can solve.
