Thank you for this tutorial. I hate that the Delonghi solution has so many "toxic" warnings on it. Why are they selling me something I shouldn't even touch with my hands yet is running through my machine I'm going to drink out of? Let alone the price! This is a much better solution. Thanks for sharing!
From what I've seen on their site and MSDS it's only lactic acid. It is however at a concentration of 30-50% which is quite high, and that's likely the cause of all the warnings.
I will try to use white vinegar when my stock of Delonghi descaler run out. White vinegar is way cheaper option than the official descaler and is readily available or can be bought easily. Great vid! Keep it coming for all coffee lovers.
I did today and I filled all the tank with vinegar and it descale at first then second time with just water to rinse it and now it's ready to frot my milk again! Thanks for the video!
Tip: I like to take the metal piece that you take off and put it in a bowl of warm/hot water with dish soap and leave it there until I finish cleaning the machine. This helps nicely clean the bit from the inside and outside.
For those with machines that ask for frequent descaling... The machine keeps track of the amount of water that goes through the heater. So, the frequency of descaling is based on usage. The allowable usage between descaling is programable. If you have VERY soft water, you can program the machine to go longer between descaling. Read the manual where they explain how to change the interval.
The round steel filter on the cup filler is held on with a single Phillips head screw, remove it and the rubber seal, both will be dirty and blocked, I used a vinegar-bath and scrubbed both clean, take care to seat the seal on right way-up and you`re good to go ! ☕
OLDER MACHINES ARE PROGRAMMED TO RINSE TWICE. This is why some machines keep flashing. Just fill the tank a 2nd time with fresh water and press the button again. After the 2nd rinse, it will reset to normal operation.
@@Ignite619 after descaling you need clean machine with 2 water tanks of clean water - as any coffee company recommends. this removes even all chemicals. I do it for 9 years.
Maybe my delonghi espresso machine is shot? I descaled it with a 50/50 water and distilled white vinegar. 2 cycle or rinse, and unscrewed the filter and clean that. Still get the flashing orange light. So I repeated the steps again. Still flashing ! Thought maybe the light was malfunctioning, so I put the portafilter with no coffee to see if it seeped water. No water trickled out.. any thoughts on what’s going on?
After you finished descaling and the light is still flashing just put a cup under the porta filter and hold the flashing light down and it will redirect through the porta filter and then the light will go off

One thing that happened to me that was giving me problems. Make sure you turn to switch all the way for the D scaling process to start. You need to hear a click. That's what happened to me ha ha ha
when I go through the final rinse stage the tank runs out of water, the machine doesn't automatically stop and it sounds like there is grinding gears inside. Only way to stop it is to turn of the machine. any advice?
I tried using vinegar, however I still get my coffee cold and not as fresh as I used to get it. Is there any way to Re-enforce descaling operation on delonghi?
I have the magnifica evo machine and it is telling me to descale. I added the liquid product and added water. Held the descale button down for 5 seconds and nada. Only descales the milk frother which I've never used. Can anyone please help me. I love my mechanic but this is super frustrating as the instructions only have pictures.

Vinegar can damage the internal parts of the coffee machine, especially the seals and the rubber gaskets.
That's why it's diluted with water.
