For the longest time, Quattro GmbH was the Audi performance division, creating various RS models and mid-engined supercars like the R8. But then Audi decided to create the limited edition R8 RWS, which was RWD only, leading to a rebrand of Quattro to 'Audi Sport'. As the first ever RWD only Audi, the RWS combines a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 making 540 hp with a brilliant 7-speed DCT for maximum driving enjoyment. They built 999 of these RWS, and they were also the "cheapest" R8s you could buy of the second generation. Having spent time and owned a variety of R8s, from Gen 1 manual, R-tronic, S-tronic, coupe, spyder, V8, V10, V10 plus and even the sister Gallardo and Huracans, I was very excited to try out the RWD version of the new R8! Eddie, first off, congrats on 100K subs. That's a huge milestone in a segment as cut-throat as yours, especially when you don't resort to Uber gags and clickbait Gold Diggers. Coming to your channel gives actual insight and substance on the vehicles we are interested in. I watch yours during my morning breakfast, the others…..on the toilet. lol
As for the RWD R8, well, you know my opinion. I have a tuned 580-2 and it's worlds more fun to drive than the AWD brother, 610-4. Be good and keep it up!

Great video Eddie. I always watch your reviews. I only like two Audi's. The S5 4.2 V8 model (early) and the A8 long base with fridge in back lol. I never liked this model. It just doesn't excite me enough to want to own it. I used to own the A6 2.7 twin turbo model from 2004. I also owned the A4 2004 3.0 V6. Both were good cars. When the S5 came out with a V8 and aluminum mirror caps, I really should have went and got one. I bought a new Boxster instead.
Got my 17 r8 v10 plus for 142k only 8k miles, I dont see it losing much more value for what it is definitely a sweet spot now

There is such a strong association between Audi r8 and all wheel drive that rwd r8 seem somehow wrong. I wonder if this would have gotten better rep if it had 600 hp.
Iam surprised you didn’t lose a wheel over those shitty Chicago roads ,great review and a great car .
These pick up 60whp with a tune so they have similar power as the v10 plus and 100lbs lighter.

Honestly with how tech and performance focused the car feels, the DCT pairs nicely. Gen 1 gated is still awesome and readily available, for many $$$ tho haha
