For the longest time, Quattro GmbH was the Audi performance division, creating various RS models and mid-engined supercars like the R8. But then Audi decided to create the limited edition R8 RWS, which was RWD only, leading to a rebrand of Quattro to 'Audi Sport'. As the first ever RWD only Audi, the RWS combines a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 making 540 hp with a brilliant 7-speed DCT for maximum driving enjoyment. They built 999 of these RWS, and they were also the "cheapest" R8s you could buy of the second generation. Having spent time and owned a variety of R8s, from Gen 1 manual, R-tronic, S-tronic, coupe, spyder, V8, V10, V10 plus and even the sister Gallardo and Huracans, I was very excited to try out the RWD version of the new R8! These R8s with AWD & a supercharger have incredible performance, Autotop NLs top video has one.
I drive an E82 135i N55 LCI... Amazing sound, speed, manual, RWD, & relatively affordable.
Great car and enjoy. But 10k miles in two years? Gotta do that per year my man.

Its natural rival is the 350R they weigh the same and both have roughly 530 bhp.
Great review but for the sake of clarity (since it was not mentioned in this review or the other one you just did for the car) the RWS is back and will not be limited in production number. It's arriving next year and will be 50k cheaper than the quattro. No brainer to take that one unless you live in cold environments. The generation he has no longer has any special status since they are back and not limited and will probably have a few refreshed/updated things.
You are correct but when this video was filmed the new RWD iteration had not been announced yet.
@@EddieX No worries. Just a FYI ;) Great car, that sound is mesmerizing especially since this will disappear very soon with all our EU regulations that are killing all combustion engines. I'm in France. Today if you buy an R8 or any other car above 400 or 500hp you will have 25,000$ to pay on top of the purchase price just in "green taxes" because the cars C02 emissions. That is the upper limit so if you have a 300hp combustion car you might pay like 15,000$ on top of the price. Next year they will be doubling that to 50,000$ to pay on top of the purchase price. So in turn all that kills the sales in general and forces car makers to stop making these cars. That also forces them to reduce the size of the engines, and are also obligated to reduce noise which adds weight to cars. Basically we are not seeing the pinnacle of engineering for combustion engines. Just compromised engines because of the hundreds of EU green regulations. It's sad. Cherish your cars and regulations in USA, you guys are lucky ;)
