Also for those wondering you can go into hood view (and I believe roof view) in Forza just like in GT7. Its still better in GT7 to be fair (because IDK why turn10 doesnt want to give us a hud similar to gt7s where its right in the middle of your screen that its time to shift)
Hopefully we get that in FM because hoodview has been my go to.
which also the hoodview in FM is more dangerous unfortunately because we're still using a 2005 arrow radar system smdh.
So unfortunate because the racing is really REALLY good in FM. Super intense at higher levels but T10 keeps stumping their toe with not giving us all QOL that GT gets.

Forza feels more visceral and tactile. It's always been that way. GT looks and feels more sterile. GT forsakes realism for precision, when playing GT, you are playing a simulation. Forza feels more real world based. The cars feel like they are a real world representation of their ingame models, whilst in GT, the cars feel like a simulation of the cars in a perfect environment. This is very apparent with both games sense of speed. Forza has a far superior sense of speed to GT. Here's another example to better explain what I'm saying. Forza, the cars have an orange peel to their paint job. That's like reality, no car, no matter how much you wet sand it will have a perfectly smooth paint job. But in GT, the cars all have perfectly smooth spotless paint jobs. Realism vs Simulation....

Great video Kireth. Just a heads up these two vehicles are not truly 1:1. The Volkswagen GTI on the right is front wheel drive, but the Volkswagen R on the left is actually 4-wheel drive. I agree that there's camera issues with the 3rd-person-camera, but not sure if this is compounding the issue further as clearly the tire dynamics will be difference. That being said, I've played both and the 3rd person cameras and general physics are absolutely different - with GT7 it's almost as if the camera is "attached" to the rear of the vehicle like an attached GoPro with a stick (and even more "on rails" feeling with it's physics), whereas Forza the camera is far more dynamic (and maybe a bit overly so) but overall more realistic. Hope that makes sense. Cheers!

I dont think GT gamers understand that FM offers way more freedom. By default all assists are on. Tirn these off for better "sim" racing. Also the car movement on chase cam can be turned off to be set in place. GT feels more on rails imo. The tire physics in FM feel way more responsive and the visual/force feedback feels better to me. FM really struggles with over-exposure in bright settings, washing everything out so that cars look like plastic toys, and tracks look like desaturated previous-generation products. Personally, I prefer the camera from Forza over GT Sport & 7, but I get it and agree with your point that is harder to be precise with FM. Nonetheless, the camera from GT7/Sport feels super stiff, and that for me I get sensation that the car is static and the track moves under the car. While in FM if really feels I'm driving/moving over the track.
However, I believe it's also a matter of the controls, I'm playing on controller and after some adjustments (reducing the dead zones to less than 5) I managed get it more as I would like, which is more responsive. It's more twitchy, but now any over/under steering is totally on me. I still use traction control but no brake assist. I think I will need to get again a wheel, but this time a Fanatec instead of a Logitech (G920) to use it on both FM and GT. Imo when it comes to simulating real life physics, precision is key. If GT7 physics are more precise than FM then that makes it better at simulating a real car.
I also think FM needs to have an option to lock the camera to the car in chase mode. I never use the chase camera, but from what I've seen, it can get a little confusing knowing how your car is handling with the camera moving around.

If you play any other view on Gran Turismo, the “principles” are absolutely present. In Gran Turismo, the camera is fixed to the tail of the car, even when the car is drifting/sliding. In Forza, the the car can rotate more freely without the camera needing to move. Grew up racing forza, and always thought it was weird that the the camera is fixed to the tail of the car. Now I play GT7 pretty religiously…. But I don’t play in chase cam….

Couldn’t disagree more. Forza physics need some work still, but as someone who owns a 2017 C63s and has tracked it several times, i find Forza to be a more accurate representation of what it feels like to drive near and past the limits with that car. GT7 is way too stiff. Not dramatic enough, no real feeling of the car dealing with load transfer around consecutive tight corners, no real feeling of squirming and squatting under hard breaking. Just overall a less immersive experience for me as i feel the cars are way too planted and on rails. Maybe for some, this is easier and more enjoyable. GT7 has oversteer at turning and braking in FF cars such as the GTi, I think there are two things happening, first you might have sport hard tires and feel too grippy for the car, and also you have a great control of the car turning and braking at the same time that's why you don't slight oversteer. But for example I play GT7 with controller and it's very difficult to get the perfect turn like you did, and you tend to oversteer more (even in FF cars) because you're being less precise. Maybe you can learn how to do that in Forza, or maybe the physics are still a bit oversteery for the sake of fun

Every other sim I'm planting my load cell pedal hard and pressing my back into the seat, but on FM I'm locking my wheels up with maybe 2cm of travel.
