    Can't believe how easy this looks. Picked up a 1995 for 600 bucks a while back which came with a lot of little projects, this being one of them due to the previous owner having lost the key in farm mud. Guy apparently went without locking his vehicle for 10+ years. Unfortunately I live in town and have already lost a few tools to the neighborhood(seriously who steals a rusty metal toolbox full of somewhat less rusty hand tools????) so this is happening. 👊 Really appreciate the time you guys take to put these videos out there for all of us with no mechanical experience, saved me all kinds of money for sure. 👊

      Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad the video helped and that you got a truck so cheap!

    Great video! I couldn’t find much help and I’m so thankful for this video. I like how you showed the details and differences between the different locks. Keep up the good work.

    #1 best/easiest way to do this. If your worried about your paint just tape around the locks. Super easy install. Just follow his directions 😊

    Thanks for this video . My 95 f150 passenger door will not open from the outside , inside handle works.
    So I finally open up the panel take a look & see a short rod with a white plastic ( C shape ) just hanging
    out in no mans land. I had know idea where it went . Your video , I see the same plastic C shape on the
    cylinder . Now I know. Thumbs up !

      Yeah, there is something about them. I would love to get me a Bronco and have both, the truck and SUV, but who's got the time and money for something like that? Not me!

    Awesome. I like the idea of two pairs of pliers. We are able to rekey old door locks I'm about to rn. I'm going to use my ignition key
    it's really easy on chevys

    Nice video! I have a 1995 F150, and the plastic piece broke off inside. I took the door apart anyway to lubricate all the moving parts.

    Thanks for the vid. Gave this a try today. Broke the passenger side lock and dropped the rod on the driver. Looks like I'll be learning how to take apart the door now 😂

    Man I can't wait to replace my door cylinders now... I replaced them on late model vehicles and they are a HUGE pain in the ass. This is why I don't think I will ever get a new vehicle. So easy to work on.

    Does this work for power locks?

    • @GettinJunkDone
      @GettinJunkDone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure will, might just have extra rods attaching it to the motor.

    Replaced the driver's side lock on my 89 F-250 because it seized up... But did not fix the problem... The electric actuator works just fine, but the key won't turn the lock... Any advice on what else could be jamming up the process?

    • @buysncharge
      @buysncharge 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was their theft damage to the body metal?

    • @bosatsu76
      @bosatsu76 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@buysnchargeNo... the key just became impossible to turn... It was degrading for a few years... I'd oil it, and it worked for a bit, then finally, not... when I replaced the lock, I tried it out in my hand, and it was still frozen up... So it was the lock imo... Meanwhile, when the new locks came to me, I tried them out.. they refused to work until I popped off the C ring, reversed the arm, and tried them again.. they worked in my hand at that point... the passenger side was always good but I replaced it anyway to keep the key the same between the two... IT works just fine. So it's just the diver's side. Something is just not sliding right, or it's rubbing on something etc... If I could really see inside the door at all the twists and turns of the rods I could probably find the cause...
      Thanks for the response.

      @bosatsu76 have you dismantled and cleaned the latch box? It can get tight. The electric door opener can open it but not the key. If I remember that type correctly the rod from the cylinder pulls a little tab on the tide. It can bend or become grimey and too stiff. You need to get a panel trim remover. Pull the cars. And remove the latch box. It may require a manual impact driver. To under the fasteners. Which may be torx. There is some factory loctite.

    initially the paint on the door looked pretty decent. During/after removal there was a ton of scratches. Do it right, pull the inside door panel and work the rod from the inside. It takes an extra 5 minutes or so per door.

      Lol, it's a simple mechanical part. It's not like there is a trick to it or something. If it didn't work that's on you.
