I initially had a deposit on a Tiger 900 GT Pro, but after riding the Yamaha I felt that it had that bit more of a sporty edge than the Tiger. The Tiger was more sure-footed, had a better screen and ergonomics for longer rides, whereas the tracer 9 gt screen in standard form I found awful, it genuinely made me feel nauseous. The Yamaha has a much sportier feel, great suspension, superb quick shifter and the build quality is really good, better than the Triumph and much better than the Suzuki GSXS1000GT I test rode although in other ways the Suzuki was a really great bike with a bonkers engine. I bought the tracer gt, fitted a short sports screen, Yamaha radiator guard, fender extender and clock protection film to stop them scratching. It's a brilliant all round fun bike. Not really a tourer though, more sports than tourer. I'm really happy with it. Great honest review, it basically mirrored what I think about the bike. Cheers

Hi, sorry for my weird question but what do you mean by clock protection? The cluster screens? Sorry I just want to be prepared for my new bike by buying things that would make a good upgrade.

@@davegagne-boulanger1115, just like phone screen protection. It just prevents them from getting scratched. 👍

Hi, Eddie! I got a fair deal on the Tracer 9 (non-GT) in the awsome red color by the end of the summer. So far I have got about 1600 mi on it before the fall weather got too cold. I totally love it! It's a more comfortable MT-09. I have fitted it with the Quickshifter and the heated grips as well. There's one thing I couldn't stand, though, and it's the windscreen. I took it off and fitted a very small sports screen instead. Worked wonders for the turbulence around my head, which drove me crazy. OTOH there's not much more wind protection than on a naked now, which suits ME fine. It's also my first "big" bike, moving up from a CB600FA. It took a couple of rides in Drive Mode 4 to get used to it before I dared to move up to 3, and now 2 is my default. Other than that I haven't had any problem with the bigger size and more power. That triple roar and quick shifter are truly addictive! No regrets what so ever!

I have a 2015 Z1000SX and may look to change it in the next year ….. would you say this is a good alternative? - like the look and the package of this bike and the Adventure style of it. Thanks for the review 👍

I owned the z1000sx before purchasing my 2016 mt09 Tracer. I did not miss the power of the kawa because the torque and character of the Yamaha engine more than made up for the loss of horsepower at the very top of the rev range. The three cylinder engine was a revelation after owning the z1000sx and zzr1400 and I loved the light-weight feeling, short wheelbase and playfulness of the chassis. I am now thinking of replacing my 2016 Tracer with the newer Tracer 9. I think Yamaha has hit a home run by combining fun, comfort, practicality and reasonable price. The only thing that bothers me a little at 6ft2 is that wind protection is not great but the truth is that I do not travel at very high speeds so I have not experimented with other screens.

Hi Eddie, best honest video I have seen on the Tracer 9 so thanks for that. Looking to buy next month I am coming back after decades of no bike so looking to buy a do it all. Do you think it will be too big/powerfull as a return to biking, rather than go 700 and loose a Shed load to move up. I would appreciate you viewpoint.

Hi Eddie. I believe the GT version has electronic adjustable suspension to help Prevent/create the ‘dive’ under braking. I may be wrong

Hi bought gt version in September done 2400 miles can't keep of the thing, love it.
I am 5ft 11. Don't have a problem with screen seat or anything to be honest.
I think if that's all they have got to nit pick about they want to get a life. And if them clocks where on a bmw they would best thing since slice 🍞. But thanks for a honest review 😉

Thanks for the comment :) I'm glad it's working out for you. Looking back on the footage I realised just how easy and fun that bike was, plus you can go long miles on it. Such a huge step-up compared to my older Tracer 700.

@@EddieSetGo Icon performance, but it is not yet certain which colors there will be for 2022. They think that the red will disappear and another color will appear. So for now Icon performance, but who knows, the new color may also be good. I can still change it if I want. Greetings.

Thanks for that. Someone wrote that this bike reminds you that Yamaha were making musical instruments before they started making bikes. 😀

hi Eddie, what were your final thoughts with regards the screen at motorway speeds with it in it's highest position?

I’m rather keen of naked bikes and as a KTM 1290 SDR if I was in the market for a GT I’d consider the 1290 interpretation as a first choice. Nevertheless, I have to admit this one is a real good package for the price. Thanks for your review! 👍✌️
