One of my most memorable experiences with streetpass is when my family surprised me by going to Disney and we stayed at a hotel that was really big and had tons of activities to do there, and I remember after I went to the water park at this hotel, and then I come back and I get 47 DIFFERENT PEOPLE INSIDE MY MII PLAZA. It blew my mind that so many people were there who owned a 3DS and that they even had a lot of the same games as me. It is easily the most slept on concept for the 3DS.
OMG I had something just like this happen, I remember taking my 3DS to disneyland, I think it was for senior night at my school, and I got like 40 or something people in my mii plaza! I miss this feature so much
omg when i went to disneyland in 2014 my brother also brought his 3ds and we'd streetpass like 20 people each day the week we were there :,) and my brother was so excited to check his 3ds and progress through that one medival streetpass game every night before bed
Did this at Universal Studios once, went park-hopping for the rides and on the way back to the car, I opened up my 3ds and saw 18 new people in my plaza! Went again and I got another 20+ new people. It was surreal and just comforting, especially as a child with no friends.
I remember taking mine to school for the first time to trade some pokemon with a friend, and being so excited to see how many people I got just walking to school! It's such a cute feature lol
The main thing I SINCERELY miss about the previous Nintendo generation is the social aspect of it all. Not just streetpass, but also the MiiVerse option to share screenshots and moments with people about the specific games they're all playing. It all felt so... together
I think that’s what I missed the most about the 3DS and WiiU era, nowadays with the switch everything just feels so…..dull, and isolated. The switch barely has any charm to it, its menus are and Gray and the symbols are just boring. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing on it, but I really do miss when Nintendo actually put a lot of characterization in their consoles and allowed us to share our experiences with each other as a community.
I really miss streetpass. In my hometown it felt so rare to get a visitor via streetpass so it always felt really special to me, like "oh thank god I'm not the only nerd here". I honestly felt emotional the first time I brought my 3DS to an anime convention, it was like I could feel a sense of community even if I never talked to anyone. Sometimes I'd even recognize who just street passed with me because their Mii was pretty accurate too. It does feel a bit odd that they haven't made something like that for phones, but also I can't see them adding it to the Switch or its successor unless the size of the console gets smaller. The 3DS was small enough as you said to even just fit in a pocket, whereas if I'm bringing my switch with me it'll depend on how much other stuff I have in my purse at the time LOL.
@@IAmComicallyCartoonyYKnow relax dude everybody can stalk you anyway, there is no escaping it, we are all equally unsafe :) (srsly though social medias, tech companies, and the internet lately have been really creepy in this sense)
The only way I could see it working is if they made a really small, durable device that you can easily carry around with you anywhere. It could have streetpass and pick up anyone you pass that has a Switch or one of those devices. Then you could connect it into your [Insert name of next Switch here], and when you have internet available, it would search up the users and add their streetpass data to compatible games. I doubt it would be that expensive, maybe $20 at most? So it would be absolutely worth a buy for me. The Switch itself could have streetpass, but when you're going somewhere where it's not efficient to bring your Switch, you can carry the Streetpass device instead! I doubt this would ever happen, but I think it would be super cool.
honestly kindof wish theyed bring it back. now that im a adult id like to get my little brother some games and see him "unwrapping" and getting excited that its the game he wanted
I'll still bring my 3DS places with me sometimes, depending if I'm fixated on one of the games or not at the time. And every once and a while I'll get a streetpass, it makes me super happy whenever it happens.
I never heard of this feature until this video popped up (never had a thing for consoles, portable or otherwise...), but with the direction Nintendo (or any console maker, for that matter) currently seems to be going, if they ever brought this back, it would be probably for the 'low, low price' of ONLY $24.99 a month 🙄...
Streetpass was supposed to return to the Nintendo switch according to the files, along with music for the switch eshop. I think the leaked eshop music is released

I have tonnes of party games on the Wii that I play with my family when I come home for the holidays, and I take my 3DS up to uni with me so I can check in on my tomodatchi and play some professor layton. It's not because of a lack of better consoles, I love my switch, but because these consoles still hold a lot of value in my opinion outside of nostalgia
That 3DS streetpass was peak Nintendo. I'd never been so damn excited to go in public and collect puzzle pieces (I was in high-school, a ton of people in school had it and going to conventions was bliss)
I met my best friend through Streetpass in 2014. I got the notification that someone was at my gate and noticed this mii looked just like a girl in class, asked if it was her and we got to talking(about Fire Emblem Awakening, mostly). 9 years later and we're married. I have Puzzle Swap to thank for my life as it is today.
You had the best streetpass experience tbh. As someone who was already an adult at the peak and past it of this thing i only got hits from the spotpass at my local mcdonalds. It's kind of depressing to think about instead of like "i wish i could go back."
I loved Streetpass so much. There were like 6 people at my high school I never actually met, but had nearly daily interactions with. It felt so unique to hs me in a way that can’t really be explained. Like, it added an extra layer of experience to road-trips and vacations. I’m so happy to see it talked about by an awesome dood.
I took a family trip to Lake Powell when new leaf first came out. I remember walking around the docks and getting so many houses to visit. It made the vacation much more memorable.
As an socialy akward kid it always felt like a virtual hug if I met somebody via streetpass. Back then I thought: "Omg, if this is already cool, how will it be to connect to the internet and have internet friends?" Well, after some years I tried to find my place in the internet. My first internet friend experience was disturbing and I never felt safe again. Connecting through the internet can make you feel lonier than before
I actually got streetpassed 3 times this year! Two times were on my daily walk and the first was when I saw the Mario Movie for the first time Really love streetpass, I'd love for that to get revisited one day OR for people to start bringing their 3ds' out more
Growing up i went to a lot of anime conventions with my siblings, and streetpass was basically part of the culture at them. At any panel you went to you'd see at least someone collecting puzzle pieces or playing Find Me (Usually Find Me II since you got so many people that you'd easily clear Find Me I), and honestly the same conventions just feel a bit duller now that there's nothing to replace it. It formed a sort of unspoken community, so large that I have met up with at least one person from all of the US states at this point. I miss it a lot. Sometimes I still keep my 3DS on in my bag in hopes to see that flashing green light while I commute to school.
A nostalgic and bittersweet trip down memory lane. Our experiences and timing with using Streetpass are so similar, like I feel all those points beat for beat. The 3DS was such a key help in that transition from high school to college and grad school. It helped me make friends I still have today! Oh and the paid games were fun, my fave was the slot car racer.
I got my 3DS at like 9-10 back in 2020 long after the street pass era. I think I’ve gotten a grand total of 1 street pass from a stranger before. I kinda wanna start taking my 3DS to school just to see how many passes I can get
i remember having my 3ds turned on while closed up safe in my pocket while i walked around for school all day and id have soooo much to check on once i got home
This hit unbelievably close to home because I still own a Nintendo 2ds (yeah, that one) and I still walk around with it in my pocket hoping to get that little green light at the top one day... but it never comes. My Samus puzzle remains incomplete, I can never get anywhere in Find Mii, and my life has been in a downward spiral ever since people stopped caring about the 2ds and 3ds. Thanks, I needed this video.
I cant describe the good feeling you would have after walking around all day with your 3DS in your pocket, getting home, and seeing that flashing green light in the corner.
Streetpass never died! I still bring my 3DS to big events / theme parks, and obviously I don't get a ton of people, but it's always nice to see the few people who continue to remember and support this lil 3DS feature. I know the 3DS/Wii U services will be going down soon, but from what I understand it doesn't include Streetpass, either
Streetpass was such a fun experience to see that green light illuminate and find new ways to play your games using data from other users. But the best experience for me were the StreetPass meetups, I used to be a regular at the one in Brisbane, Australia and made so many great friends at these meetups. It was an incredible time in my life. I really hope that Nintendo's followup to the Switch brings back Streetpass.
Honestly, I don’t know why Nintendo hasn’t made like some sort of streetpass mobile app already. You could totally simulate the original functionality using Bluetooth or something.
Its not that easy theres a reason why this concept hasn't atleast seen before on phones. The nature of how bluetooth works on phones atleast on a non root level is pretty limiting when it comes to this except you wanna connect to every device near you lol.
Ah, well that’s a bummer. Better to have my dreams dashed by technical reasons than a lack of trying by Nintendo. Thank you for letting me know of this.
I remember getting my first 3ds, it was well after its prime (I think 2016-2017) but I still found 1 person using streetpass. Whoever that was, thank you for the happiness I got staring at your mii being like 'WHO ARE YOU???!!! I NEED TO FIND YOU!!!'
I’ve been using my 3DS more frequently over these pass 3 years and it honestly has been giving me some real nostalgic memories. I miss when I also used to bring my 3DS to school and get a few street passes. It was the best, and I still dream of street passing at least one person after 6-7 years.
I love my 3DS and still play it, though this video made me realize just how much I miss streetpass- I was always checking to see if I got someone new after coming home from school or shopping with my mom when I was younger. Luckily, some people bring their 3ds to raves or concerts (like dorian electra's) and its so funny to see like minded gamers lol
This is honestly one of the most down to earth people I've ever had the pleasurer of watching, I am genuinely thankful for his thoughts and his art work as he holds a lot of charm and appeal. If you're reading this, anyone, be happier as you deserve it and be proud of who you are because your true self is the best one. Thank you for this simple yet wonderful video, Jacadamia.
your videos make me really happy for just no reason at all I love it, I'm going through a really hard time in life right now and even if it's only for 5-10 minutes, whenever your videos come up I get to escape that for a bit and it's so great, thank you
I’m really sorry to hear things have been rough for you lately, speaking from experience every little step counts and just hanging on is an achievement in itself. I’m glad i could help you out, even if it’s just a little!! Thanks for letting me know
just wanna say your art style is adorable!! i love design of all the little characters and how theyd make the cartoon squeak sound effect if i hugged them hahah
I remember taking my 3ds with me to highschool almost everyday excited to see, if I pass the same people again. It always warmed my heart at the end of the day getting on the bus and opening it up to all the people I unknowingly passed that day in school. I never met any of them, but there was just a sense of comradery at seeing the same people also bringing their 3ds' to school. Miss that high a lot
Streetpass was always the best when you went to conventions. I remember bringing my 3DS to Megacon and stuff and after I got back home, I would check and find out I literally passed by dozens of other nerds. There were even some people sitting around in the lounge areas, with their 3DS out and doing Streetpass stuff with it! In short- definitely bring Streetpass back. It was so much fun and I'm so mad that Nintendo didn't bring it over to the switch
I wasn't expecting this video to hit me in the feels as hard as it did... I relate to everything after 4:58 on such a personal level, most of the people I actually care about are only on Discord and my only way to stay in touch with them, and the few that I have IRL tend to be busy a big chunk of the time... Loneliness sucks...
I doubt it'll come back but I would love streetpass back for the next console or something like it, I had always loved seeing that little green light notification pop up when I was out and knowing there's someone else around me who likes the same things I liked. I would be nice to have a messaging feature too so you can talk to people who you meet through it
Back in the day i would be lucky to get 2 streetpasses in my area. The fact that was so rare for me made me appreciate the games even more, always using play coins just to get more of a taste I hope someday something as small as a joycon can have streetpass integration again, it could arguably be more common and easy to carry around than a 3ds
YES! Take out the stupid IR camera in the Right Joycon and put in something that lets me pass people on the street and see their Miis! Or sell a fancy peripheral, Nintendo loves to do that. Such a bummer that I missed out on something like that. Hopefully they do something like that with their rumored next console.
Awww man I'd love streetpass to come back. I loved that it felt like an anonymous community within your life. I was in community college at the time but always got the same people from the parking lot to classes. Also Cons were so awesome with it. From like wondercon to anime expo, it was a gold mine and fun. if they bring back streetpass, they would have to bring back Mii's too.
StreetPass was one of my favorite things, Even now just hooked up to a charging dock in sleep mode. I still get the occasional Green glowing indicator light. I might never meet these people, but I always feel like I'm just a innkeeper welcoming wayward travellers on their journey. Or knowing how StreetPass work. I'm just a quirky little guy randomly showing up and helping you in your games :3.
those were the days.. I'm glad I got to experience some fun times playing Mario Kart and Smash during recess with those 3ds friends I made back in school
Street. Pass. Was. Insane. Being in school was like a whole interaction, cuz there was always one dude on it that you could interact with on the mii plaza!
Bring your 3DS to any anime con and get ample amounts of streetpasses! :] This is what I've been doing for the pass couple years and the results always surprise me. Plus nothing gets a cosplayer to smile like asking to take their picture with ur 3DS! Good luck out there!
i just came across your channel recently and i gotta say, im already hooked, it has everything i could want, funny critter telling me funny things as for my experience with streetpass, i never got to use it since i never went out with my 3DS, id always just explore the plaza unable to actually do anything
I think the biggest thing that surprises me with the 3ds is just how old it is. Looking back, that really was the console that was around for the most of my childhood. 2011 (7 elementary) to 2017-18 (14/15 highschool). So much of the stuff on the 3ds was around for so much of my life i can’t really ever see it as “old”.
I really miss streetpass cuz it made it so easy to socialize with people in middle school, but now that I'm in college, it feels so hard to make friends.
Oh wait untill you start with your work life...making friends as a adult is even harder. Well in the US it might be easier but here in Germany it's so damn hard....especially as a introvert. German introverts are way more quiet than introverts from the US.
Something else cool about streetpass: With people you met repeatedly, like close friends, their mii would get stronger and stronger in games, so your buds would be hella powerful!
I love your animation style, video style, everything. Really funny, insightful, and the art is just really nice and cute!! I think imma watch more of your videos, this one really slaps!
My school banned phones recently (im in high school), so other kids are bringing in their old 3ds's and I've been getting a ton of street passes, and its super cool!
Recently I remembered the fun times I had with my 2ds when I was like 6 or 7 and wanted to relive that, so I bought a 3ds and have been carrying it around everywhere. I’ve gotten a couple streetpasses especially from school which is surprising and also really nice to know that other people had the same idea!
I remember bringing my 2ds with me all throughout school while playing the streetpass plaza games, being really excited every time I’d find a new Mii on it! I fully forgot about this, and I miss this so much.
Streetpass was pretty fun for what it was and very underappreciated. I feel like it's needed now more than ever thanks to this whole post-Covid life we all live in.
I saw a clip of this on tiktok and thought I’d come to check out the og vid, i absolutely love your oc and your vid and can’t wait to see what else you have cooking up :3
I literally carry my 3DS with me everywhere I go. I've gotten 1 streetpass this year and I really wanna get more. Sucks that it's so difficult to get one nowadays, but I know getting one nowadays is gonna feel special cuz of how rare it is.
I've street passed with a now-friend at school a few times, and it was like a quest for us to figure out who we were, we only figures it out like 3 months ago
This video is exceedingly relatable to me, and the fact that it's being narrated by an adorable creature with a cute voice fills my brain with all the good natural chemicals.
I remember I use to bring my 2ds to school everyday to play at lunch, and I found out from streetpass that my assistant teacher in ela was also a big fan of animal crossing, and every once in awhile we talk about video games Hes not in my classes anymore but he's still cool to talk to in the halls and stuff
Bro you unlocked some CORE memories. I didn't appreciate high school when i was there but it was a lot of fun. Almost total freedom, and school + work wasn't totally overwhelming yet.
Man...... Truely I feel ya. I practically in the same situation as you and was having simiral thoughts. Friends and making Friends Easily in school is generally taken for granted until it's too late.......Very Positive message you spreading man.
I would carry around my 3ds at college in 2014-2016 and it was amazing how many people I would pass and get to see a tiny bit about them and their fave game, as well as people who would just come up to me and see I was playing mh4u in public and wanna join up. It was a little exciting treat to come back from class and see the green light on the ds and have like a gajillion passes, especially bceause I would pass the same people multiple times over the week and get them leveled up in the cute little rescue mii games
omg, ive never seen your videos before and i hit the like button (because the art style and storytelling is just... awesome!!!) and i got the 21k like... :O oh, and not to mention i gave u a subscriber :3
cannot tell you how much joy I got for seeing john from tennessee give an indepth description of his play habits, and that he owns some application called CIA or something-
can we all like.. just start taking around our old 3ds’ for this? like even if we don’t play anymore I feel like we would all be so much more happy if we had this in everyday life. I would love to get street pass again
the end of this video is gonna make me cry bc of how incredibly hard-hitting and real it is. i feel so alone it's unbelievable. i have no friends or any life at all outside of my 3ds and sometimes my phone for games too.

I got my 3DS at like 9-10 back in 2020 long after the street pass era. I think I’ve gotten a grand total of 1 street pass from a stranger before. I kinda wanna start taking my 3DS to school just to see how many passes I can get
Haha Gen z
i remember having my 3ds turned on while closed up safe in my pocket while i walked around for school all day and id have soooo much to check on once i got home
Thanks, I needed this video.
i too walk around with my 3ds at all times in hopes i get a streetpass :,)
how do you fit a 2ds in your pocket, i was never able to lol
@@IAmComicallyCartoonyYKnow had these cargo pants, and the back pockets were HUGE like, comically big.
@@ccmanxx1 chromebook massive?
@@melz4766 I'm gonna be completely real, there's a *chance*
I cant describe the good feeling you would have after walking around all day with your 3DS in your pocket, getting home, and seeing that flashing green light in the corner.
Streetpass never died! I still bring my 3DS to big events / theme parks, and obviously I don't get a ton of people, but it's always nice to see the few people who continue to remember and support this lil 3DS feature.
I know the 3DS/Wii U services will be going down soon, but from what I understand it doesn't include Streetpass, either
Yeah a got quite a few at comic con a few months back!
They did. It died tho
@@yaboi3839no they didn’t
@@yaboi3839miitomo was THE shit, for real
i went to a small convention and had 6 streetpasses in an hour. it's coming back, we just need to keep growing the community!
Luckily, some people bring their 3ds to raves or concerts (like dorian electra's) and its so funny to see like minded gamers lol
haha thats awesome
Thanks for letting me know
Yes NEVERRR GIVE UPPP
just wanna say your art style is adorable!! i love design of all the little characters and how theyd make the cartoon squeak sound effect if i hugged them hahah
2:37 that was just uncalled for
and true
Streetpass was always the best when you went to conventions. I remember bringing my 3DS to Megacon and stuff and after I got back home, I would check and find out I literally passed by dozens of other nerds. There were even some people sitting around in the lounge areas, with their 3DS out and doing Streetpass stuff with it!
In short- definitely bring Streetpass back. It was so much fun and I'm so mad that Nintendo didn't bring it over to the switch
3:10 that was my fav part 😂😂😂😂
I wasn't expecting this video to hit me in the feels as hard as it did... I relate to everything after 4:58 on such a personal level, most of the people I actually care about are only on Discord and my only way to stay in touch with them, and the few that I have IRL tend to be busy a big chunk of the time... Loneliness sucks...

This is the first video I see of your channel and I LOVE IT. I really miss Streetpass, we should all get our 3ds out!
I doubt it'll come back but I would love streetpass back for the next console or something like it, I had always loved seeing that little green light notification pop up when I was out and knowing there's someone else around me who likes the same things I liked. I would be nice to have a messaging feature too so you can talk to people who you meet through it
While I messaging feature could be neat I doubt they would do it, that feels like miiverse but more chaotic
This channel is giving me big Midnight Gospel vibes. Prolly cause you sound a bit like the protagonist.
New favorite animator!
I loooove midnight gospel, thank u!
Back in the day i would be lucky to get 2 streetpasses in my area. The fact that was so rare for me made me appreciate the games even more, always using play coins just to get more of a taste
I hope someday something as small as a joycon can have streetpass integration again, it could arguably be more common and easy to carry around than a 3ds
YES! Take out the stupid IR camera in the Right Joycon and put in something that lets me pass people on the street and see their Miis! Or sell a fancy peripheral, Nintendo loves to do that. Such a bummer that I missed out on something like that. Hopefully they do something like that with their rumored next console.
When I went to Japan I got soooooo many
Everytime I boot up my 3ds and see a game say "connect to streetpass" my heart aches deeply
I carried an Amazon Fire tablet in MY cargo shorts and listened to the ONE offline song I had on loop throughout the entire school day
what song was it
@@splorngo I'm super late to replying but if I remember correctly, it was Mat Zo - Soul Food (Album Mix). I was in my EDM/House phase lolol
5:20 inner not just bikes just awakened in jacadama
those were the days.. I'm glad I got to experience some fun times playing Mario Kart and Smash during recess with those 3ds friends I made back in school
You shouldn't be allowed to have such an adorable character while also having such a softboi personality.
Street. Pass. Was.
The dopamine rush I would get from the insane amount of streetpass hits I would get at cons felt like cocaine
@@supermio64 It was pure euphoria! (ಥ _ ಥ)
My family and I go to a lot of cons. I actually never thought of that so thank you for the idea-
@@Pancake_Catx_Arcade Your fam sounds awesome, happy hunting out there!
i just came across your channel recently and i gotta say, im already hooked, it has everything i could want, funny critter telling me funny things
as for my experience with streetpass, i never got to use it since i never went out with my 3DS, id always just explore the plaza unable to actually do anything
I lived for street pass. I’m so upset that it’s gone. It made it fun to take my games places and go to that before my phone.
Street pass straight up saved a man's life from stalker
I really miss streetpass cuz it made it so easy to socialize with people in middle school, but now that I'm in college, it feels so hard to make friends.
Oh wait untill you start with your work life...making friends as a adult is even harder. Well in the US it might be easier but here in Germany it's so damn hard....especially as a introvert. German introverts are way more quiet than introverts from the US.
Something else cool about streetpass:
With people you met repeatedly, like close friends, their mii would get stronger and stronger in games, so your buds would be hella powerful!
2:37 dang that's a good idea...
Duo wielding
I LOVE STREETPASS, I STILL GRIND OUT PLAY COINS JUST FOR THE GAMES! AND I LOVE YOUR CHARACTER ITS SO CUTE
Recently I remembered the fun times I had with my 2ds when I was like 6 or 7 and wanted to relive that, so I bought a 3ds and have been carrying it around everywhere. I’ve gotten a couple streetpasses especially from school which is surprising and also really nice to know that other people had the same idea!
just got thus video in my recommended, and i completely agree! also the little sona character is adorable
I remember bringing my 2ds with me all throughout school while playing the streetpass plaza games, being really excited every time I’d find a new Mii on it! I fully forgot about this, and I miss this so much.
One of my favourite StreetPass moments is randomly getting the Eon Ticket in Omega Ruby from a complete stranger at an airport in like 2016
You are all I wanted and more in a Nintendo video- literally so much personality, thank you for telling about my childhood in a fun, cute way ❤

2:04 that guy kinda looks like graywalf
This was such an amazing heartwarming tribute to street pass I loved the animations
I remember I used to bring my 3Ds to anime cons, and I would get a bunch of street passes from people around the world! It was so cool! 😄
This video is exceedingly relatable to me, and the fact that it's being narrated by an adorable creature with a cute voice fills my brain with all the good natural chemicals.
4:44 omg what the hell lmao
I remember I use to bring my 2ds to school everyday to play at lunch, and I found out from streetpass that my assistant teacher in ela was also a big fan of animal crossing, and every once in awhile we talk about video games
Hes not in my classes anymore but he's still cool to talk to in the halls and stuff

That’s a bit debatable.
It’s still charming. People just whine more.
