    I kept waiting for you to go into integral calculus and 6th degree polynomials when you talked about the curve in front of the bridge. 😆 Tell me you’re an engineer without telling me you’re an engineer, says another engineer. Love your stuff! Great job! Watching it all while building my first timber model (not the Titanic) as a tribute for my long gone Dad. Wish I’d discovered you sooner and Dora is the Bomb! 👍🏼 My SWMBO would never. 😆

    Hey Ben great job doing this exacting stuff on camera! A lot of things covered for the bridge and some of the pitfalls to avoid or at least be aware of! Don't forget to paint the bridge storm shutters brown before you start adding the telegraphs and ships wheel etc! Also on Woody's set C I believe that Neil has included the telegraph boxing that fits under the bridge on deck A. Great detailed video, learnt a lot from your pain and efforts! Thanks. JH 😉

      Hi Johnny, Ben’s client didn’t order the ibeam set for his build. However I supplied Ben a set for his own build. On sheet C I actually included 2 telegraph shrouds as spare. So there’s nothing stopping Ben from using one on each build.

I'm building this kit as well and the additions to buy for this model from different suppliers are outstanding and depending on your budget you could spend a absolute fortune ,but as you have just shown the end result is outstanding. Many thanks .

  • @perrylamb6286

    OK, the FB picture was simply awesome. I had NO clue that it took that much work. Really well done despite the odd curves. I truly did not realize that the bridge was open. Yeah, the films indicate that, but it didn't really "sink" in until now. I continue to be impressed with your work. I started watching with your Missouri build, and have gone back to watch snippets of other builds, and am following this one. Stunning.
    I see comments on some FB and YT pages along the lines of, "I could never do work like that." Truly, all it takes is practice, making mistakes, learning from them, and "pressing on". Clearly you've done the work and earned praise you get here. But, as a note to others, your work is this good because you try, learn, and do. That's what it takes. Did that make sense?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally! And thank you! My rule for every model build, since I was little is: pick one thing about this build that I want to master. The rest of the build can just be built per the instructions and enjoyed. But try to master or really nail one part of this build. Then on the next build, pick something else to master.

    I'm probably crazy here but the details you are putting into this might only be appreciated by a handful of Titanic fanatics. Would building one of these really expensive kits not look really good after all was said and done and also get the admiration of a vast majority of model builders?
    I'd love to have one of these but I don't play professional football so I couldn't afford to have you build one of these for me.
    What you are doing is truly remarkable.

    Hey Ben! thanks for filming this 2 Titanics builds. Really enjoying watching it. Fantastic work for sure.
    I've noticed something about PE part you glued at 28:30. This is outside part that is backside of the bridge, but it has texture vary similar to what it usually is from inside. My best guess that prolly it should go inside of a bridge with texture visible through windows? idk :)

      Those are coal outriggers. They swing out and a Lilly is on the end. They are used to haul buckets of coal up to the top of the coal locker doors on the side of the ship where they dump it in.

    Ben why is it that one supplier cannot offer all of the options, instead of relying on the hope that various parts from different suppliers are going to fit together - plus the fact of the enormous costs involved just to make a realistic model

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It boils down to cost and time. Woodys Model Works has spent the same amount of time developing their sets as Minibrass has spent getting their parts up and running. China 3D prints has been diligently creating parts for the last 2 years. If we were waiting on just one of these providers to develop everything, we would still be waiting. To make it happen faster, you need more people. That costs money. It just gets complicated really fast. With the one common factor being Trumpeter’s kit… everyone usually gets it pretty close. In fact, if you don’t use the PE hull sides from MiniBrass, everything fits the stock kit just fine.

  • @philip167

    ben when I start painting the titanic kit I have 1/200 do I need to prime every thing

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Priming first is always best. But you don’t “have” to as long as you clean the parts first and you’re using enamel paint.

  • @philski24
    @philski24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Might be a silly question, but when filling the openings in the deck (8:40) can you use scrap from the scaledecks sheets? or is it easier/better to just use strip stock and paint.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can totally use the scale decks strip. I think the difference is how do you want to spend your time? Mixing a matching color (which I have down and can do quickly) or cutting a very small piece of wood? Which ever is easier for the builder is the way to go, I think. Because both options work.

  • @Hightower85

    Might of already been asked but I am a newb to this scale of modelling!
    I'm in the UK and wanting CA Glue. Does it come with an activator or is CS Glue a stand alone thing?
    I'm used to tamiya so sorry for the simpleton question.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
