My aunt has owned nothing but a Toyota Avalon since they came out. She had a 98, 01, 06, 12' and now has a 18'. I asked her what her next car was gonna be since they discontinued them and she was like "Well, I guess I'll either finally get a Lexus or this Avalon will be my last car." She's 72 now.

I've put almost 50,000 miles on it in two and a half years with only having to is regular oil changes and a set of tires
I love my 2010 Avalon Limited so much. I prefer the pre-facelift version because I love the clean look with the screen off and radio and map controls covered. I use my phone for maps and aux anyway. I definitely recommend getting one with the 6 speed (08-12). 09 was the year where VSC became standard which you definitely want in a car like this. If you absolutely can't live without a backup camera, you can get it on the 2011 model. For me, the parking sensors with blind spot mirrors work well with enough practice. I reverse park into nearly every parking space so getting out is way safer. The Limited is definitely worth it and the cooled seats actually work. I love the rear sunshade as well as the temp controls on the steering wheel. My Avalon is the perfect highway car that still takes regular gas. It's comfortable, quiet, smooth, and gets about 23-26 mpg. It revs super low most of the time (1k-2k RPM) but when you put your foot down to pass or speed up, the torque pulls strongly and it is surprisingly fast for the size and weight. It is definitely worth waiting around for a pristine example. If you do buy one, please replace the two piece lug nuts with the one piece lugs from Japan. The two piece ones from American-made Toyotas/Lexuses can have the outer lug cap swell and warp which makes the wheels difficult to get off in the event of a flat. Save yourself that nightmare by switching to the one piece lugs as soon as possible. It only cost me about $25 for a full set. As long as you keep the transmission fluid fresh, you should have no problem reaching 300k+ mies with basic maintenance. I've seen some in the 400k+ range. Hopefully this advice was helpful to some of you. Have a wonderful day.

Well done review. A couple features that appear in the limited version that were not touched upon in this video are (1) a sport mode for shifting manually and (2) drivers seat leg support, which extends the depth of the seat from back to knees. If manipulated right, the sport mode can bring the 0 - 60 down to 6 seconds, and maybe into the upper 5 second range. The driver's seat extender is awesome for long drives, as it provides more thigh support - improving circulation. The Limited has both a telescoping and tilting steering wheel, although these are separate controls and both are mechanical rather than electronic. The 2011 - 2012 Avalon is a gem among cars, especially in terms of long-term reliability. I sort of hate that the secret is getting out, as I often think about getting a second one.
I had a 2009. It ran great until the transmission went out at 270k miles in 2022. Looked for a replacement and the only suitable option was getting a facelifted 2011 Avalon. At the time it was also considerably cheaper than a Camry.
I totally agree with you BUT your friend got taken for a ride . Yes it had low miles when he bought it But still the car is over 10 years old. At the price that he paid for it they could have at least gave him 4 brand new tires And some other little extras. Only good thing about this deal was it wasn't a CVT transmission And the engine is second to none. I think if he kept it for 5 years he could turn around and sell it for at least $10,000 provided that the mileage is very attractive to a buyer.
@@BernonCars I agree with everything you had to say about the car. Mine was purchased second hand as a winter car. Drove it 6 years. It had 230,000 kms when I sold it. We needed something smaller and more fuel efficient for city driving - replaced it with a Prius C. Not as comfy, powerful, luxurious or smooth as the Av … but it’s crazily fuel efficient and better suited to our current needs.
I've always liked these facelift versions. If you look hard enough, you can find one with the dark red bordeaux interior. This was up there on my list to consider, but I ended up with a 2010 S80 V8 Executive that I love...and I think I prefer it to these Avalons.
Camry suck compared to these lol toyota messed up on camrys engineering many countless timesThese ones are better they r more lexus like luxury the new ones are way tooo much toyota like
I own a 2012 Limited Avalon. I have been driving it for over 5 years and I LOVE IT !! The best car I have ever owned. There is only one thing about it I don't understand....For a luxury car like this Toyota did not make provision for securing your belongings in a valet situation? There is just no way to hand your vehicle over to a Valet without giving him/her full access to the whole car. I use to own a 1994 Acura Legend and I could lock my things in the glove box and/or the trunk, give the valet the "valet" key and my private property remained private. That's the way it should be with a luxury car. At times I miss that feature.
The 2011 and 2012 refreshed 3rd gen Avalon is the best looking and most comfortable of all the Avalons in my opinion. The only negative thing i can say is they should have kept the column shift/bench seat option which makes the car a true 6 passenger car. The center console takes up alot of room and i personally prefer the bench seat configuration myself. Also, this car in dark burgandy or the medium green is a true looker.
I did the same you did. You don’t have it in over drive if 3,500 rpm. You stop in the spot next to the bottom. Right in the middle of the dash you will see which gear you are using. The bottom spot is where you put it if you want to use it like a manual. I agree this car is amazing. I bought it as my back up for my expedition and as something better on gas. lol 😂 now I’m mad at Toyota because I won’t be able to get anything newer than a 2022 on it cause it’s discontinued. You are right this car is as smooth as butter. I bought mine 2 weeks ago with 91k miles on her. Paid 14k on her. More than what I expected for this age of a car but well worth it 😊
Got my 2012 avalon yes they switched the navigation for the 6 disc but bought me a new unit,I put drive shafts on it with brakes and at$14,900 with 76000 miles it's beast and dodges hate it because it is fast😄
I have an ‘07 and I love it but I think it may be time to get a truck sadly. I don’t know whether I should sell for the extra cash or just keep it as a spare. Such a phenomenal car. She’s at 190k now.
I was looking for a 3rd Gen Avalon when I found and bought a 2011 ES 350. Obviously they are the same car mechanically and in some cases the Avalon has options that you couldn't get on the ES like reclining rear seats. Either car is a great or option for someone who wants a smooth and reliable ride.
I enjoyed your video. I just picked up a 2011 Limited with 90,000 miles. I’m considering doing a transmission drain and refill along with a filter change. I’m thinking since I’m at 90,000 miles, it would still be okay to do a transmission service.
I was looking for one of these a as a first car in 2020, couldn't find one at all and got an 8th gen Accord V6. I still like the look of these for sure and the cabin noise sounds much more quiet than my Accord and overall has a more luxurious feel.
Got a 2012 Avalon end of January. 43.6k miles when I first started looking in December was $17k. By time I finalized deal I got it for $13k. Now has $49k miles. I was a dealership girl and I’m new to Toyota. If anyone has info on maintenance or upgrades please send it my way.
IMO, the ultimate Avalon is the hybrid. It gets over 40mpg no matter where or how you drive it, but it's still dead solid reliable and incredibly comfortable. It's not fast, but honestly How fast can you actually drive in day to day traffic and commutes? The hybrid comes into it's element in that sort of driving too, it will still get 40+ even if you're sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, which torpedoes the MPG of anything else.
We have a 2010 Toyota Avalon limited with 102k miles we got a week ago and literarily we absolutely love it so smooth and comfortable best car to get and to surrender our 2019 gmc terrain denali where we were paying 760 a month our Avalon is so much better
Amazing cars, I just purchased a one owner 2010 Toyota Avalon for $7900.00 and its only the XL. No leather seats and Im actually happy as they are so comfortable. No sunroof or any other add ons but I never use those. I will change the boring 16 inch XL rims with nicer 17 inch avalon rims. I paid a little more for the car but prices are still expensive but Im very glad I found one in this condition.
What do you think about the 2nd GEN 2000-2004. Im looking at one tomorrow (2000) XL with 52,900 original miles. Its mint and I love it already. Currently have a 97’ celica 1.8 hatch. Want something a little bigger. Wanted a Tacoma but cant spend that much
@ 17k seems high for a 14 year old car but considering it only has 28k miles and looks mint in photos makes it seem worth it. Plus they were $37,000 new in 2011 so it’s over half of its of msrp. But I’m probably just gonna stick with my 2013 Camry XLE. I’ve always wanted a nice, low mileage car but I commute an hour each way to work on I-64 and I feel like I don’t deserve a car that’s too nice since it’s ultimately going to get plummeted with rock chips and other road debris
I purchased a 2011 Avalon in 2017 with 122,000 seven years later the body still perfect rides like a charm and if I want to pass another car, nothing holds this back! I was told the Avalon was good on open road, but horrible on curves. Well they lied. I live in the mountains and for 13 years this has never given me a problem. Toyota should have discontinued the camry and kept the Avalon. Big mistake Toyota!
Avalons are great cars in terms of reliability and comfort. The only thing, they are often associated with "old geezer" owners. Earlier year models had a steering column stick shift.

I have the 2012 limited edition with 156000 miles on it and not one single problem. just keep the oil changed every 5k and enjoy it. the gen3 is the last of the luxury ride after 2012; things got smaller on the inside and a stiffer sportier ride. you just cant beat a gen3

We needed something smaller and more fuel efficient for city driving - replaced it with a Prius C. Not as comfy, powerful, luxurious or smooth as the Av … but it’s crazily fuel efficient and better suited to our current needs.
Totally agree... I have a 2008 Limited with 68,000 miles and a 2022 Limited. I much prefer driving the 2008 over the 2022!
These ones are better they r more lexus like luxury the new ones are way tooo much toyota like
These ones are better they r more lexus like luxury the new ones are way tooo much toyota like
Happened to Lexus LS too..I have an 08 LS and it feels smoother than the new LS
FYI, Price includes Tax, Tags, shipping and a warranty. Expensive, yes, but worth it for this near perfect example.
I just bought a 2009 with 37K miles at $10K. It's mint and drives like a dream.
Nice!
I've always liked these facelift versions. If you look hard enough, you can find one with the dark red bordeaux interior. This was up there on my list to consider, but I ended up with a 2010 S80 V8 Executive that I love...and I think I prefer it to these Avalons.
I agree with you on the S80.. especially because of the V8. Loved it in my XC90
Yes that rare interior is a stunner. Very few were manufactured in that dark red bordeaux color and i have to agree it's a stunning interior choice.
Nice!! Yeah I agree! Thanks for your note!
This review was so helpful and well thought out; thank you!
Im happy it was helpful!!
2016 Toyota Avalon got it after high school graduation in 16 till this day at 97,000mi no issues hope to make it too 300,000mi
Nice!!
I agree! That would be great.
I bought an 2012 Avalon base trim I have like 127k mileage love my car
Nice enjoy it!
Those years are going for $16k with similar miles. You confirmed that the 2011 even in base has Bluetooth audio so I'm searching for right now.
More than what I expected for this age of a car but well worth it 😊
Yeah they're so worth it! I hope you continue to enjoy it!
@@BernonCars me too
Absolutely Great review.....Thanks keep it up!!!!
Thank you!!!
Got my 2012 avalon yes they switched the navigation for the 6 disc but bought me a new unit,I put drive shafts on it with brakes and at$14,900 with 76000 miles it's beast and dodges hate it because it is fast😄
Haha nice
I have an ‘07 and I love it but I think it may be time to get a truck sadly. I don’t know whether I should sell for the extra cash or just keep it as a spare. Such a phenomenal car. She’s at 190k now.
You should keep it! She'll give you no real reason to sell
I recently purchased a 2012 base Avalon with 115,000 miles for $10k and omg it’s absolutely beautiful. I don’t want another car lol!
Nice!!
Does it have a back up camera?
I think that was an excellent deal may I ask in what state ?
just bought a 2008 avalon limited, and its my seconded car, hope she will run till 300,000 mi!
Nice! I totally think so!
Interesting cross shop! I like those ES’s. Very silky smooth indeed
I enjoyed your video. I just picked up a 2011 Limited with 90,000 miles. I’m considering doing a transmission drain and refill along with a filter change. I’m thinking since I’m at 90,000 miles, it would still be okay to do a transmission service.
Thank you! Nice, that’s a peach! I think it woule be fine to do a drain and fill, but probably not a flush.
I’m looking at possibly getting one a 12-14 limited edition for $7-9 k . The mileage I’ve seen on these is under a 100 K miles to 170 K miles
Not bad! They'll run forever so no problem
I was looking for one of these a as a first car in 2020, couldn't find one at all and got an 8th gen Accord V6. I still like the look of these for sure and the cabin noise sounds much more quiet than my Accord and overall has a more luxurious feel.
Damn yeah. Huuuge difference from the Accord!
@@BernonCars Scotty Just made a vid on one of these too 😭 Prices are def goin up
The accord v6 is much faster
@@jvelazque005not really off the line but the avalon will overtake it with the power band from 2nd to 4th
That’s a good deal!
When something does break, all the money you saved on fuel, goes bye bye.
Great review
Thank you!
Another great video!
Thank you Ben!
We have a 2010 Toyota Avalon limited with 102k miles we got a week ago and literarily we absolutely love it so smooth and comfortable best car to get and to surrender our 2019 gmc terrain denali where we were paying 760 a month our Avalon is so much better
My goodness, yeah good call getting out of the Terrain. The Avalon is great!
Good review.
Thanks!
That’d be nice! Enjoy it!
Avalon is a total sleeper, too. Looks like some Grandpa Camry that can't get out of its own way, but then it hits you with that 300 horsepower.
Right! They hustle man haha
What do you think about the 2nd GEN 2000-2004. Im looking at one tomorrow (2000) XL with 52,900 original miles. Its mint and I love it already. Currently have a 97’ celica 1.8 hatch. Want something a little bigger. Wanted a Tacoma but cant spend that much
Those are great! Reliable and so comfy
nice review
Thank you!
Someone’s selling a 2011 Avalon Limited with 28,000 miles for 17k near me on FB marketplace. Contemplating if I should buy it
Wowwww not bad!!
Great vid
Thank you!
Ita a Avalon they never die.
Nice they are great cars! Unfortunately the Avalon just didn't maintain sales numbers like the Camry!
The biggest competition to the Avalon was the Lexus ES350. It lost, though.
Avalons are great cars in terms of reliability and comfort. The only thing, they are often associated with "old geezer" owners. Earlier year models had a steering column stick shift.
I love the column shift!
Because they're so well made and also made in Japan!
I see old toyota, I click
Yessss
I love love love 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰in mint green like the color of money 💴 my Avalon 2,07 I love the way it takes off and drive where ever I go is also so classy car so comfortable back seat reclines for long distance and for those that have long legs it the best you would love it you got to try it you won’t regret it
The perfect car for a road trip!!
dang 20k? that’s how much i got my 2015 xle premium with 36,000 miles one owner…
Would someone 6'4" fit in this car better than a camry (which i do not fit in).
I believe so! Its not muuch bigger but you’d have a better chance
Got the 2011 limited one 74,000 miles it's the best generation the best car ever created the best used car to buy Toyota is not going to make them like this anymore because it was getting into the profits of Lexus so now it's just a Camry
Very nice!! Yeah these definitely are keepers!!
This the hotbox come Springtime
Hell yeahhh but tints are necessary haha
Nice video
Thank you!
Im taking a look at 2012 for $12,000 with 105,000 miles today interior is still new if they give me deal im taking it
That’s a great deal!
@@BernonCars yeah the dealer wont budge they know what they got and are being hard to deal with im going to risk the car being there 2 more weeks and I will go back for the end of the yr i should get a deal then if its not sold but man that interior is immaculate
I’m 16, got my first job, and I’m looking for a car, exclusively Toyota, exclusively the third generation avalons, so far, no luck, with some time tho.
Nice, yeah with time! Good luck!
Did you find one?
@@Beefnhammer I wasn’t able to, in the end, I ended up with a 2012 Honda accord
@@thebowinarrow8398 Not a bad fallback, Hondas are great cars too
I just bought 70kmiles 2012 avalon limited for $ 14k!
Nice job!!!
I want a new Avalon a have a gen 2 2004 Avalon XLS
I have the 2012 limited edition with 156000 miles on it and not one single problem. just keep the oil changed every 5k and enjoy it. the gen3 is the last of the luxury ride after 2012; things got smaller on the inside and a stiffer sportier ride. you just cant beat a gen3
Nice! I know it'll do another 150k
2005 xls has 280hp
Good review. I think your gas hand might be fucked/glitch , because it’s an 18.5 gallon tank. My brother is got da same 1.
Hey Bern!
Hey!
Nice video, wish we can communicate to see how i can purchase one
I have a 97 Avalon and is lake 223
Nice Bentley.
My 2009 XLS gets 34mpg highway, and averages 30. Of course I drive it like an old man. Oh yeah, I am an old man. 😂
Hahahaha
I'm in the process of trading my 2007 Touring with 142,500 miles for a 2012 Limited with 120,050
Solid upgrade!!
Bruh how is it so mint, wtf
It's so cleannnnn
a 2011 ANYTHING that isnt a rare performance or luxury vehicle shouldn't be over 20k. This definitely isn't worth that nor do they normally sell for that much. Shit you can find a 5th gen for under 30k if you look hard enough
It’s wild! I’ve even looked myself at other ones with similar mileage for sale and it’s not far off
BERN YOU DID GOOD ON THIS VIDEO CAUGHT MY ATTENTION GOOD REVIEW JAMIEOKLAHOMA
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
If he spent 20k on it he got ripped off. Just bought mine for 5.5k and it had 170k miles
Oh yeah suuuuper expensive LOL
He paid way too much for that lol
Yuh Hurd me
They're expensive because of the Toyota tax.
Unfortunately so!
He should have gotten that for a little less tbh.
Yeah that was riiiight at I’d say the peak of how expensive shit got too
Love the manual buttons on dash. Beats a touch screen any day.
It's good!

I just pic up a 2009 XLS and I use to sell Toyota’s and had a Demo of this car and I love it then too it’s very smooth and refined as a high quality Toyota the way Should be I have had many Toyotas in my life and I have never had a complaint about them I had a Toyota Celica with 450000 miles and it still ran quietly❤ 😃
Nice! Beautiful car. They’re so great!
