Wanted to let you know that I did my truck with the help of this video, and everything was very helpful. Thanks a lot this is the best video on the web for it.
Thanks for answering the question. I am a DIY guy, but this is my buddies truck and really don't know anything about it. I just knew it would make a good video and that it could help people with this task. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, unless he has an oil leak. There is a small rubber cap that is the fill hole. If the oil in there is low, add to it with jack oil. Once filled, open the lower nut two full turns and pump 20 full strokes. Tighten and lift something with the jack, see if it works. If it has air in it, you cam pry the little rubber cap ever so much to let the air hiss out. Usually this fixes it for me.
Thanks for the video, I will be doing an upgrade shortly, just gotta buy a few more pieces of hardware and the spacers from rough country. I'll be doing this job myself!
Remove wheel, take lower strut bolts out, stick a BIG pry bar under strut and pry up. Put in spacer and new bolts, tighten down bolts and put wheel back on. Drive to tire discounters and have an alignment performed. Done. Doing this upgrade will cause a little extra stress on the ball joints and lower control arm bushings over time but if it's just for everyday driver/appearance don't worry about it. If you go off-road or use it as a real work truck pay the extra and go for the actual suspension lift. Hope I helped someone.
Good instructions but I found out that it was a little hard getting the spacers under the shock so I put a small bottle jack on the lower control arm to the bottom washer on the shock and jacked it up a little. A lot easier than holding a crowbar and putting the spacer in at the same time. A little dangerous though :/
at 10:30 why did you insert the bolt from the bottom? wouldn't it be better if it was inserted from the top so if the nut loosens the bolt won't fall off?
I added two links. One on the video clip when I mention it and one in the video description. Who knows how long it would have been before I realized that I didn't add the link if you hadn't said something. Thanks again for watching.
jack up both front tires at the same time uses 2 jacks till there just touching the round pull the bolts out of the bottom of the shock lift the truck up evenly have a friend push down a little on the tire to make space for the lift spacer to slide in put in the bolts drop the truck down done in under 20 minutes both sides
These leveling kits are much harder on a older truck, just did my 08 chevy Silverado and I had to drill out all 4 lower strut bolts they were seized so bad. It took me and my friend 5 hours to get the job done because of the rust so beware, plus it makes your truck ride a lot worse, your front end hits bumps a lot harder afterwords.
I did my 2010 and yes took forever! Now I gotta get back under there cause of noises after hitting bumps and when I turn right it squeals?!? guessing cause I haven't did an aligbment?
Oh yeah, and for some reason, my passenger side slid in nice and easy but the driver's side was a struggle.. Idk, I started with drivers side (took me 3 hours) passenger side took me 1 hour. All hand tools.
alright so im about to put a leveling kit on my new 2003 z71 had some 18 inch rims with 285 tires on my old one and switching rims to the newer Z would they be able to fit without rubbing?
Thank you for this video! Just got mine on my 09 Silverado Crew Cab!! The sway bar nut was by far the hardest obstacle, sucker was rusted and even with WD-40 it took alot of effort! Do you need an alignment afterwards?
you should always get an alignment after you screw with the suspension... even though it doesn't jerk all over the place going down the road doesn't mean is isn't affected...

Thanks for the feed back and for watching. I'm glad it helped.
Good video thanks for taking the time to film it, it's a big help.

Cool. Best of luck.
I'm you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
paisteboy i think im your brother from ohio..same sled, same pickup, same shit done to them. just glad you do them first and post a video lol
another fine video for when the weather is being mean
Cool. I keep that in mind and let my friend know. Fortunately my jack still works great.

Thanks for the input.
Your video was far the best vid out their, great job. This video help me out, thanks guys...
Thanks. I'm glad it helped.
Yeah. The weather got cold again, but we didn't get a lot of snow in the immediate area.
much easier than other videos awesome nice work
Thanks for watching.
I want to do the same on my Silverado, as far as upgrading to 20x12's... Just curious on the tools you used?
This was so long ago that I don't remember. If it's not in the video, I'm sorry.
Thanks for the reminder. I will update that now.
at 10:30 why did you insert the bolt from the bottom? wouldn't it be better if it was inserted from the top so if the nut loosens the bolt won't fall off?
No alignment after. We didn't disconnect anything that would effect the alignment. Thanks for watching.
Nice. I've got an older '05 Silverado and will be doing mine.
Cool. Good luck.
does the aluminum and steel arms require different spacers?
LOL. That's cool. Got any suggestions for future videos bro. Thanks for watching.
did you guys torque everything back to factory specs or did you just tighten till all the bolts were snug?

What do you mean by "just touching the round"?
i hope its true! bcuz i want to try it
very true we do them all the time here
Good video. Thanks for doing it. Going to help me with my install.
You're probably right. If those tires wear out early it's going to cost a lot more than an alignment.

I live in Michigan tho,if you live in a southern state it will be a different story
Thanks for the comment.
I did my 2010 and yes took forever! Now I gotta get back under there cause of noises after hitting bumps and when I turn right it squeals?!? guessing cause I haven't did an aligbment?
what size of kit was that i just purchased a 2inch and i cant stick the one bolt in the axle is right where the nut goes got no room
I'm pretty sure the stock bolt was in that way too. Besides I think if the nut comes off it won't matter. It's going to get ugly.
Oh yeah, and for some reason, my passenger side slid in nice and easy but the driver's side was a struggle.. Idk, I started with drivers side (took me 3 hours) passenger side took me 1 hour. All hand tools.
yes you can ,but get a wheel alignment because you have changed the camber out.
So it's air in the jack not low fluid. Thanks.
So it raised the truck over 2 inches from the front?
Something like that. It levels the truck out.
Gotta fix that jack, it's easy. Just needs to be purged. I need to do this kit to our Suburban. Looks ridiculous with the rear end up.
Outstanding Video Man!
have you had issues with that bolt rubbing on the drive shaft? its extremely close to it.
alright so im about to put a leveling kit on my new 2003 z71 had some 18 inch rims with 285 tires on my old one and switching rims to the newer Z would they be able to fit without rubbing?
Nice video guys good job
Norman Fields
Thanks. I recently uploaded another video of my 2017 Chevy Silverado getting the new I boards installed on it.
were you able to drive the truck to a service station for a front end alignment after the install?
+John Desmarais
Yes
Did you guys have to have the truck realigned?
I don't believe we did. I would see how it rides afterwards and make that decision then.
Does this kit make it perfectly level ? And I herd these kit ride like crap do they or does it still ride all harder than stock
What size rims are those on that truck? I am afraid if I do that to mine that it is going to look weird unless I put bigger rims on it.
idk. It's my buddies truck. I believe they are stock though.
I asked him last night and he said they are 18"
I did mine the same way, no bolts taken off except when i put in the level, do you think it causes alignment problems?
+ArmandoB
I don't think so.
I was told to get an alignment after installing
It is a good idea to get the alignment but depending on what you took apart to do the install will be an important factor.
Thank you for this video! Just got mine on my 09 Silverado Crew Cab!!
The sway bar nut was by far the hardest obstacle, sucker was rusted and even with WD-40 it took alot of effort!
Do you need an alignment afterwards?
yes for sure. the camber will change quite a bit once you install it, so if you don't get alignment you will have a ton of unnatural tire wear
I'll chk on faucet 3233 the 4e r 34 3o43
does it have any effects on long run ? and do you need to tighten up this stuff every while ?
As far as I know nothing else was needed to be done after this install.
Thanks. That's a little different on my channel, but not as much as my fresh tomato sauce or sausage making videos.
goodwork guys
Is this a 2inch leveling kit or 1
It's a 2" leveling kit.
The link is in the description.
Thanks pasteboy
what size tires on on that truck? I have 265/something(?)R17s and idk if that's gonna look goofy
265/70R17s
Nate den Hollander
those are 17s i have the same year truck and mine has 265/70/18s on it are you sure those are 17s they look awfly big to me.
Crome wheels 17" right
how long did it take you in real time to install it?
Does it require alignment after or ?
I would recommend it.
@@Paisteboy does it rub on the cv shaft?
It's been a while and we don't have this truck anymore but I don't think it did.
About 1 1/2 to 2 hours
no problem
You did an alignment again did you not?
Steven Tudryn Yes, Do an alignment.
So do you guys really think that wood block is stable? Let alone safe??
Yes
I just ordered this kit for my 08 GMC, did you go get an alignment afterward? I hear some people say u don't have to and others say u should?
you should always get an alignment after you screw with the suspension... even though it doesn't jerk all over the place going down the road doesn't mean is isn't affected...
great vid
u never put the link to the other video
Very good
Make sure to put bolts top to bottom, not bottom up...they will scratch CV axle
+1 This is in most other vids. But otherwise, nice video. Came in handy last week.
How do you get the bolt to go top to bottom?
Tried it today and couldn’t get enough clearance at the CV shaft
Thanks
can you run 33's on a 2 inch leveling kit?
clarkys silvy i dont think so. Run 32s
Was anything done to the rear of the truck?
nothing was done to the rear of the truck.
Like video
Thanks for watching.
This is the 2cnd one of these how to's I watched. Am I the only one air tools?
I would not want yall working on my truck
what a hater.
shaun moore pp

+Edgar Ortega
What are you talking about?
no problem
