installing the ULTIMATE SILVERADO SUSPENSION in ONE DAY

  • This is the BEST WAY TO LOWER YOUR TRUCK hands down. If you have a 99-07 Silverado 1500 2wd and you want to lower it, you absolutely need to check out Atomic Fabrication and their new coilover kit. It bolts in in one day, uses a double adjustable shock, and will greatly improve the handling of your pickup.
Check out the other suspension build I did on the 4x4 drag truck

Glad you the kit worked out well! I was worried a second about the ride height working out correctly since there were a lot of moving parts (adding drop spindles, cut springs, coilover kit, etc) but was relieved once it all fell into place as it should. Looking forward to the video on the rear setup!

Neat, precise, and careful work - the little paint touch-up on the clearanced arm was a nice touch! So good to see that you obviously care about your customers' vehicles as much as you do your own. That Silverado is very cool and has changed my opinion about those OBS Silverados - I'd probably still prefer an older stepside C10 but that's not a bad looker.

Hi Laurence, I worked as an industrial nurse for several years and saw all types of injury. My own experience with wire wheels attached to grinders of all sorts is that wires snap and shoot at high speed. I have had sone penetrate into my legs through heavy work trousers. So yes glasses but better yet goggles when doing that work. Safety glasses don’t stop items deflecting of your cheek to the glasses then your eye, as was the case with grinder grit. I note comments about gloves and believe that they serve their purpose but selection of appropriate protective equipment needs agreement, multiple gloves may also prove to be their own hazard. Some of the disposable gloves present problems with sensitivity and in humid environments contribute to skin irritation and dermatitis. Everyone has an opinion about PPE but we all seem in agreement in protecting ourselves appropriately.
I haven’t done any work with vehicles like you do but enjoy watching the content as there are always creative solutions to each situation. Keep up the good work

The Copo truck looked that nice if not nicer. Also........ PUT SOME SAFETY GLASSES ON WHEN USING A GRINDER OF ANY KIND WHEN THERE'S A WIRE WHEEL ATTACHED TO IT! I always take 2” shackles and re-drill the driver side rear to 1” drop. This tends to be better method to eliminate the “Lean” that these trucks have. You can use the CO adjustment to correct it, but it the truck will bounce around like a hulahoop on big dips in the road. Its nice to see Richard start using a tapered coil spring. Does is function as a progressive rate? I’ve always installed a jounce bumpstop on the coilover to bring back the factory progressive rate feel that gets lost when removing the factory rubber stop.

I'm curious to know because I've heard conflicting things about drop spindles negatively affecting weight transfer. What did Richard (Atomic Fab) have to say about that? Also, I've heard of people flipping the upper control arms when using drop spindles + lower springs.
Are you going to gap the rings in the 8.1L while you have it out to change the cam?
