The New Factory Five is an Affordable Raptor Killer

  • Factory Five Racing is back with another affordable kit car- but this time, it's just a little bit different from the supercar slayers they're known for. The Factory Five XTF (formerly referred to as the Factory Five XT-1) is a prerunner style widebody Ford F-150. This kit replaces the stock F150 ladder frame with a new sturdier tube chassis, which has long travel suspension for up to 20-inches of travel. The XTF is an insane baja truck that would dominate the F150 Raptor in the apocalypse, but at a fraction of the price!

      I don’t see the need though tbh, that part of it seems overkill- although I suppose Ford modified the frame on the F150 for the Raptor- mostly just thicker where the shock mounts are & a couple other spots, but I’m on my 2nd & have done Raptor Assault course as well as just beating mine off-road on my own, & literally don’t see why the need to go much more overboard, I couldn’t tell if they modified the engine or not but I would hope so to handle the extra weight of the kit + the unsprung weight of wheels/tires etc

    Complete overkill on the fab work for the lower frame and doesn’t tie into a roll cage to prevent flex. Plus you want the bed cage to mount the rear bypass shocks higher.
    If frame swaps were so good, you’d see more prerunners doing that instead of a full on chassis with a bed cage

    • @bradgriffith4231
      @bradgriffith4231 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What is a 5 link rear suspension? Desert trucks ALL have "double triangulated" 4 link suspension with no track bar. The double triangulation keeps the rear axle centered & allows it to flex side to side without binding when 1 tires is in a hole & the other on a high spot, unlike a parallel bar 4 link(really only good for drag racing), which needs the track bar to keep the axle centered. GM used a double triangulated 4 link without a track bar on all their coil spring rearend cars for decades. A track bar would pull the rearend side to side during travel with 20+ inches of travel. There are some shops out here that build killer full cage & suspension prerunners with trick suspension under the bed using bell cranks & cantilevers with lay down coil over shocks if ya want a couple hundred thousand $$$$$ badass truck. Try going to a desert race like the Mint 400 & walk through the vendors area to see what's available. Like Alan Jackson's song, "All It Takes Is $$$$$$"!!

Easy to be an "expert" when ya don't have a clue of the real cost to build sh!t!!! Wareham, where Factory Five is located, is commonly considered southeastern Mass, or approximated as near the Cape, but "Southern" Massachusetts becomes very confusing near the Rhode Island border and Blackstone River valley, as central Massachusetts (Worcester) lies west and north of places like Seekonk. Southern Massachusetts would refer to a place south of Central Massachusetts, which is northeastern Connecticut.

      $30,000 isn't required to get the HP of a Raptor. My buddy built a 1,000+ HP, 555 BBC fo $12,000 & it went 7.97/168 in his 86 Olds Cutlas at Wild Horse Pass with 4,000 altitude air density.

    16" in the front and 20" in the rear? It doesn't look like it has all that much ground clearance...I guess I'm missing something. Having the ability to push the bottom of your tire above the bottom of your frame could be useful is VERY few occasions where there is off camber terrain or obstacles. Does it even have more ground clearance than the factory truck?

    • @bradgriffith4231
      @bradgriffith4231 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Desert trucks aren't high rider 4 wheel drives & they're not made for rock crawling. Most are set up with much more "droop" in the suspension than compression. A full tilt Trophy Truck has about 30" rear travel & 24 inches front travel & ride height is usually set below mid travel. SOFT is the program in the desert if ya don't want to get the crap beat out of you when averaging 60mph for a several hundred mile race. The Baja "1000" was 1,350 miles this year

Tax, shipping and extras for the kit $35k. Wheels and tires $6-7K. Build and paint unless you do it yourself is probably another $15-20k. It'll cost as much if not more than a Raptor R.
