I looked back through your videos and found this. This is an absolutely awesome project. Too bad you did not do the step by step videos. Great work! I also restored an FJ40 several years ago. So, I could really relate to that project. Your attention to detail is fantastic!
Very nice car. You are making everyone envious. Regarding the comments about your driving style, don’t just take their word on it. Do some research yourself. Find a good performance driving school and invest in lessons. A car as nice as yours deserves to be driven properly to realize her full potential and to maximize your pride of ownership. You are very fortunate to have a wonderful car. Congratulations!
Such an unusual driving style in terms of the use of the clutch entering turns. If I were just listening I might think it’s a (very healthy!) Saab 96 with the free-wheel engaged.
You should approach a corner with the lower gear already selected. Coasting with the clutch depressed going through a corner is not good driving practice in a rear engined car
I will be making more ride along videos with other cars soon. Let me know if you like the long single camera view from inside the car or if I should keep switching the camera views like I did at the beginning of this video. Also any other feedback, good or bad is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!
I'm watching this as my 1969 912 hibernates in my garage in MI, where corrosive salt has been applied on the pot hole-ridden 8-lane roads arranged in completely straight grids.
Lol! Excellent description. You probably don’t want to know that I just got back from a drive in this car with the windows down, it’s in the mid 60s today
@@Jerod_Helt Haha, that's great! In Michigan, once the snow melts and salt gets washed away, temperatures tend to rise very quickly and get uncomfortably hot (80-90 degrees plus full sun load). The past year I installed the AA Performance 1720cc big bore kit (9.3:1, shimmed to about 1mm minimum quench) with their longer-skirted pistons, and replaced the worn out Solexes (throats couldn't be sealed tightly) with a Frankenstein set of 1990s IDF40 Webers disassembled to have parts mounted on some eBay special IDF40 clone bodies. It runs great now so I'm looking forward to when the road salt washes away and I can take it to some more rural areas. Where do you live? That looks like a gorgeous place to add a Boxster or 911 cab!
Nice job on the engine and carbs. I’m in Southern California. We definitely get spoiled here when it comes to the weather. And we have some pretty good roads 👍
@@Jerod_Helt Thanks! That's where my 912 was shipped from about 3 years ago sight unseen, with black plates that I still keep behind the back glass. Drive in good health!
I've driven millions of kilometers at the of any kind of cars, but in such a rear engine one I'm affraid if you go on flooring the clutch in curves, on a wet or oily one there will be a stop at the rear weels when you declutch and you'll promptly see the back of the car trying to overtake the front ! And it's none of a good situation, you know ! Looking at this drives me crary, Jerod, suffering for you with apprehension !
anybody out there think that the 912 is better than the 911 ? curious because of the weight distribution difference and these days you can build a stout 4 cylinder vw motor.
I came across one that needed some work but ran about 10 years for 6500 or 8500 l cant remember, l wasn't familiar with 912's at the time,l sure wished l would have bought it.l remember them going up, it seemed by the week on the internet, but there was nothing l could do because l was paying off a 71 Challenger 6cyl, which was my sorta of sports car.l think you will find what ur looking for ,for that amount.
@@xavierortiz2690 yes I'm constantly searching. I drove 7 hrs to NC to see if this guy I saw on "Barn find hunter" had some but sadly not. But he had over 400 cars to look at so that made the trip worth it lol please let me know 👍
@@Jerod_Helt You an't kidding lol I look during work hrs, late at night. I'm searching for old grave yards of cars on google in hopes there is a Porsche
Check out the classifieds on TheSimba. Prices are coming down, I think. I've even seen some good condition long hood 911 for sale for under $50,000 on some other places.
My poor man, my poor Jerod, is it an optic aberrance or you actually push the clutch down in the bends ?!? Oh my... All the rest is top, among all the car by itself and the engine sound, but this... detail, this point, this clutch abuse... Tell me I am making a mistake, please !
That's precisely what he's doing, idk why, because he'll let it out mid corner? That's not good driving at all, slow or fast. Idk if he was scared to snap over steer? But that would cause that to happen more if it was faster. My buddy did that in his ZO6, like bro get your shifting and braking done BEFORE the corner. I got family to go back to 😂 but none the less I'm sure he's got it now.. 3 years later 😂
@@Jerod_Helt Thank you for your reply, so immediate. Yes, in fact I had imagined that you are used to driving in flip-flops (in the video you can see that you drive very well). Personally I feel safer driving barefoot (to avoid the risk of my flip-flops getting stuck between the pedals).
That car sounds fantastic.
The roads are terrific too.
Thanks for posting.
Feeling like sitting in the car is just the best, Jerod, thanks for this !
This is how a Porsche is to be driven, love the sound too. Great video! Cheers
Take about an awesome sounding engine!
This baby runs waaay smoother than mine. Awesome ride!
Any reason for holding the clutch in and coasting through corners?

Thank you for this video which reminds me of memories of my 67 targa. South of french.
Love when you shift back to second gear whenever you approach a curve.
That's basicly rule number one with a shifter..
Sweet!! The car sounds great.

Just started looking at 912’s. Sounds great 👍
Driving in flip flops... mmm. A bit dodgy. But what a lovely little car.

Coasting? Into a turn? In a rear engine car.... right. Never did that with my rear engine or mid engine cars, including Porsche... whatever.
Thanks for the comment👍
Please let us know what exhaust system you have installed.
It’s the Bursch muffler

bonjour,
jolie voiture !!!
débrayer dans un virage, qui plus est , en descente ... c'est peut-être risqué ??
What type of exhaust is on your car?
awesome

Do you know anyone selling a 912 that needs a little work but fair price around 20k?

First, you should not keep your left foot on the clutch pedal. At least cause you'll wear it up faster than you think.
Wow, wonderful Porsche. Excellent sport driving style, yours. Comfortable, drive in flip flops? In this case, would it be better to barefoot?
I drive this car almost daily and I wear flip flops most of the year so I’m used to it. But I do drive barefoot sometimes. 👍 Thanks for the comment.

don't coast like with a stick shift... oh my oh my ! mostly you're taking your turns in neutral... wtf ? release the clutch immediately fcs !
hopefully that is a magnetic “JNH” sticker in this nice 912. Couldn’t keep watching after seeing someone put their own mark on a classic.
The driving habits makes watching this video similar to hearing fingernails screech on a chalkboard. Ouch! Hide your eyes and cover your ears. Lol.
