They say it’s much more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. Case in point here.

Fast car fast..now thats top tier :)

I like driving my fast cars slowly. Just knowing it can do it is enough. And you don't lose your licence.

I fully agree that driving flat out gives the most enjoyment. How fast the car is, is more or less irrelevant for me, better yet, I agree that it gives more fulfilment when doing it in a car that requires effort and skill to keep up to speed.

My 912 coupe is certainly not slow 😎

These early air-cooled Porsches, particularly the four-cylinder ones like the 356 and 912 with less weight in the back, are some of the greatest driver's cars ever made.

Slow in-fast out is a delicate dance in a swb car...but so awesome when you get it right.

I have only gotten it to oversteer once in a canyon. I want to track it and see what it does.

My dad got a '69 912 project car when I was in high school. It was a great project and fun car. Your videos bring back some nice memories, thanks.

      That’s cool. What color?

It was a bad orange respray when we got it, we did a full repaint to red. For the engine rebuild, it went to 1750cc and we added an external oil cooler. We are in the Boston area, so we replaced the rusty inner and outer rockers and front suspension piece with new stock pieces.

I drive a '68 912 myself. I used to drive a '72 2.4S but prefer the balance and steering feel of the 912

Fantastic! That is what I call livin’ the life - an air-cooled Porsche on a beautiful day on a ribbon of twisty road! Love seeing the driver workin’ the controls and also really fun to watch this little patina’d sweety hustle by in the exterior scenes.
    Thanks!

this months Panorama magazine has an expose on values of these 912’s. 📈 …I think people who want to enter the aircool experience at a lower price point are buying these up and building them up. Many 4cyl engine upgrades while keeping it 4cyl now available and improvements in braking and suspension…
Waiting to get work done on them is getting longer. Bravo to your wrenching skills!

    • @michaelgideon6422
      @michaelgideon6422  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Interesting. Owning a few of these cars I can say that the 912 is the best bang for buck by far. Even these haven't been cheap for some time, but I'd be surprise if they didn't make some ground on the 911s in terms of value.

You clearly have the right attitude. The old line about driving a slow car fast is true. Heal and toe, find the peak power while you are in the correct gear and you can make it hustle. It is a proper car in the truest sense because you have to work the brakes and steering much more so than in a modern car. It's all about feedback from the tires, the steering wheel, the brakes, and the seat of your pants. Do not give up.

Might be worth looking into a hot start relay. I put one on my bug and it has helped tremendously. Simple to hook up too.

@michaelgideon6422 I hope it works out! Be wary, the relay I received was wired improperly when I received it. It's worth double checking their work.

Dude, sweet car. Do yourself a favor and get a Bursch header/extractor exhaust the sound is sweet and a noticeable power increase and 10 or so pound reduction on the right area. You won’t regret it.
