      @ You know that I am not belittling the car right? I'm saying its not a 964 and its not a 930. It is referred to as just 911. It's very clear that the statement is regarding chassis codes. I'm shocked that you'd say "some people are never happy with what they have." I bought this car as a tribute to my best friend who died. It means a GREAT deal to me and I will never sell it. Please think before you comment.

    Best cars for exploring back country roads. Makes sense why they are do desirable. Just very connected with the road. You can feel every bump and imperfection and also smell everything outside because of the lack of a cabin filter. I have the same Momo on mine, was the first project I did when I got mine.

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives  5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Yessir. It’s dry sump so there’s a big reservoir. There’s also an oil cooler up front so when the thermostat ticks over it sends oil to the front of the car and back

    Such a lovely car!! I kick myself daily for not grabbing one when they were cheap.... just heart breaking. These cars just evoke so much emotion to me...I truly love them in every way. The sound, the mechanical nature, It’s presence on the road... and they have gone nuts in value.

      I really wish I had bought this sooner. In 2011 I remember turning down an aircooler for only 15 grand! Chances are that was a heap of trash, but it sounds like a classic "wish I bought" story haha

    • @robertrishel3685
      @robertrishel3685 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tedward I’ve had at least a half dozen great opportunities to buy some really nice aircooled 911’s over the years, particularly in the early to mid-2000’s. In 2005 I passed on a nearly perfect 964 with a really well done RS cosmetic conversion for $14k!!!! I still sometimes awake in a cold sweat in the middle of the night with the nightmare of not buying that car! My next biggest faux pa was a gorgeous white, manual 993 in 2006, it was on consignment in the showroom of my local Subaru dealer with 25k mikes or so...an S model (non-turbo) if my memory is correct, for about $27k.... instead I payed close to $40k for a brand new STi.... I LOVED that STi.... but I regret not buying that Porsche, a regret I’ll carry to my death. I kept thinking a better one would come along, a better deal, a better example.... and now, even a crap example with 100k miles has been priced right out of rational consideration. Sad. I mean a well sorted aircooled 911 is my dream car(since I was a little kid in the 1970’s), certainly attainable...but after having spent years seeing them so undervalued, I just cannot bring myself to pay what people are asking now.

    Beautiful car. Love my 993 c4s!! First 4wd car and turns likes it on rails. Missed buying a C2S by a few days. It isn't fast by today's standards, but that is the fun part. As you stated you get to wind out a couple gears without going triple digit speeds. I waiting too long and had to pay the air cooled premium, but still happy I did. The sound (got Fister III exhaust), the smell, and the driving experience is so much fun. Plan to add a LWF next. I want to add a 964, but prices now are insane. They were around 40k when I was looking before purchasing the 993. I had to have the WB which is amazing in person. I drove it home and rebuilt the whole car in about 2 months in my garage. Spent like 7k in parts/tools and now everything is new. Replaced parts that were still fine (kept them in a box), but wanted a fresh baseline to start my ownership. Car has been great now going on 2yrs.

    Loved watching the video, as it reminds me of when I take my 78 911 SC out for a drive once in awhile. Mine is 100% stock and not a rattle or a squeak to be heard.
    When I take someone for a ride, they are amazed how well it rides, and how solid it is. Of coarse mine had the 915 gearbox, so patience is a virtue! I don't drive it much, but I did drive it to Petit Le Man from Columbia SC on the back roads. I had it in the Porschepltaz with 200 other Porsches. Took it out on the parade lap on the road Atlanta race track and not sure where the pace car went, but I got it up 100 mph , such a blast!!!
    Great cars! Love mine to death!

    You’re wrong 930 is the inner code all non turbo 911s between 1974-1989. The turbo is actually 934 not 930. There was never just a 911 in the market. The first 911s are the 901/911, 2nd, 930/911- turbo 934/911, 3rd 964/911 turbo 965/911. Then 993/911 came out as the last air cooled 911s.

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a source for this information? 930 was a name given to the Carrera RS after a Turbo was installed on its 3.0L engine. Also "934" refers to the Group 4 Racecar based on the 930 Turbo.

    • @NZotyoka81
      @NZotyoka81 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have porsche history book what i can’t show you through the internet. Here in Europe real porsche enthusists are refering often 934 because as you mentioned 930 turbo is a road legal version of the group 4 934 turbo race car. Due to a high demand porsche added the turbo to their selection so they made enough to being able to creating the legendary 935 group 5 race car too (flat nose) which is also have a road legal version 930 turbo with slant nose. (935) Here in Europe the 930/935 flat nose came out in 1981 ( 300hp)from 1983 with 330hp than in 1989 the 5 speed g50 transmission was added. The first turbo came out with the 3.0 modified RSR engine which has forged pistons, nikasil plated engine and bosch k jetronic injection system. The 930/911 RsR 3.0 came out from the 1973 2.7 RS 911/901. The main thing is you are a happy owner of a porsche 930/911 carrera 3.2 US version 218hp EU version 231hp. Which is great!! Sadly i don’t have one but once i had an oppurtunity to drive an awsome 1986 turbo with RUF specs up to 330hp and it was a blast. I will never forget it. :)
      Have a great day!

    I love your 911 videos. Does anyone in the Boston area hire out air cooled 911s, or even 996/997s? We're heading over from Scotland towards the end of November for a few days and would love to rent something nice!😄

    What is the best 911 year and model, in terms of mechanical engineering, good steering, maintenance, reliable, and durability? Let me know ASAP I want a 911 preferably stick

      Armani Nguon honestly an 87-89 911. The 3.2 is one of Porsche’s best built engines aside from the 3.8 in the 997 gt3. What really sets those later years aside from other g-body cars 77-89 but more specifically the Carrera model (3.2) is the G50 transmission!

      Eddie Alvarado thanks, I don’t know why people have the 997 it’s a decent car. My grandpa had the boxter s when I was a kid it was really fun. For Porsche is most likely a boxter s convertible, 911, or 997 model.
