  • “As a kid I remember always watching my dad laying underneath a car, the feet sticking out. I always had so much respect for the way he took care of cars.”
A true labour of love: this is the beautifully told story of Anders Warming, his father, and their Bahama Yellow Porsche 912. Follow Anders’ incredible road to meticulously restoring his father's 912 Porsche after his passing, paying homage to his legacy as a person and Porsche-lover, Anders' own passion for cars, as well as to the 912 itself.

My father passed away last month and he had been working on restoring his 1967 912, fully stripped and painted Aga blue, engines&trans fully built and still going through every part restoring what he could. I’m 19 and I worked with him taking apart a sprite he’d had most of his life but now I’ll be taking over the 912 restoration. This brought me to tears.

these 912s are my dream cars. not the 911s, not ferraris, or lamborghinis, not even a bugatti. these represent lots of thought in engineering, along with keeping more luxury vehicles at least in the sight of the middle class. truly beautiful cars, perfect lines.

As grown up men we are all sons of fathers and there is that special connection. I remember when I bought my first Porsche 20 years ago how proud my father was back then. Life treated me well and I was able to buy additional Porsches since then. Unfortunately, I am not able to share the joy and excitement of a new Porsche with my father anymore since he passed away, which I miss tremendously.
However, your story runs so much deeper and expresses wonderfully the love for your father as well for the Porsche. Thanks so much for sharing this with the world!

Looks like Weber IDF carburetors are installed instead of factory Solex PIIs. They work great on my 912. Some people say to use F7 emulsion tubes instead of the F11s that are likely installed in the Webers.

My father dreamed all his life, with a 911 targa, from the same age. But for a reason or other, he never bought one.😕 However, I have inherited from my father, a Mercedes 450 SLC 1974. It's in good condition, but I never did, a full bare metal restoration. Maybe one day I will, as bought my Targa that my dad dindn't.

My Guards Red '68 912 Targa with Fuchs wheels was one of the finest cars I've ever owned. It looked great, ran like a top and didn't require anything but routine maintenance and the TLC any Porsche deserves. I eventually sold it to move up to a newer '73 Viper Green 911E Targa, which was also a fantastic car. I drove the 911E for years as my daily driver and I never tired of it, or the looks and "thumbs up" it always got out on the road. I regularly look at the pictures on my office walls of both cars sitting side by side, and dearly wish I had them back again. Each had its own character, its pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses (very few!) but, at the end of the day, they were both Porsches with that undeniable Porsche pedigree that sets them apart from any other car in the world. There truly is no substitute!

Sure miss my '69... absolute magic happened when both the tachometer and speedometer needles were perfectly vertical at 4000 RPM in 5th gear. Exactly 75 MPH. At that moment, everything clicked and you you could feel that all was good with the cam and transaxle and happiest to run all day like that. I also missed how well it stayed tuned compared to the 911's of that time. Maybe someday I'll find another....ivory white. Thanks for the video.

Do Poche still manufacture or service old 911S/912 ? Its my dream to have one but the only worry i have is spare parts and proper servicing. Why dont they come out with a new model with same design but with improved engine. I think there is a real demand . Its a timeless design and frankly the new sports car style 911 does not look nearly as good. The aesthetic taste of people are changing and lot of people dont like the mid 90s sports car style aesthetic anymore. Its too tacky .
