Using GCam on this phone has been a greater experience than the stock camera app, so I suggest anyone who has a Mi9 trying it out. Overall quality of photos is better especially in low light (night sight). It's just an APK file so no root or whatever required

I have this phone, also I travel a lot, and IF you use the camera quite often as I do, you should know that the lack of OIS make videos incredibly choppy or you can notice a drop of frames specially whenever the lighting is not great. So if I'm going out on a full day, I'd keep my low power mode on while wisely using the phone to be able to last full day.
The camera seems fine to me, maybe I'm not so fussy n detailed as the review. Generally it's nice. Don't think I'll be switching phone, maybe another 2 years. Unless it starts getting buggy or battery issue

Everybody is talking about Gcam and sure, it's amazing, but it also consumes more battery due to the advanced photo processing and the HDR+/enhanced. On a phone with a medium-small battery, it might not be the best idea (only for night shots, of course). The stock camera might not be great, but it's still not bad at all and you get the versatility of a triple camera setup. What matters most on mobile photography is usually the moment, the meaning of the photo/video. Professional shots are mostly taken on DSLRs

This phone is truly impressive. Ive been pro one ui/ samsung experience or team stock android. Miui is actually very nice, lots of theming built right into it. Battery charges lightening fast, display is perfect size and quality. Premium build. Just an all around beast. And i love being able to play fortnite at 60fps. This phone will stay in my pocket until it stops getting updates. Btw miui 12 is phenomenal 😭

Strange that Mi 9T Pro got better photos since both are using Sony IMX 586.
Also biggest pros of Mi 9 over 9T: IR blaster + wireless charging.

Had mine since release so almost a year now. I hated it at first (non persistent notifications), after this was fixed about 6 months later and after installing lawn chair I really think as a value proposition it's awesome. I get bored of phones early and have been keeping up on releases but haven't seen anything I want to replace it with yet.

I too would like to hear if you us GCAM. It won't fix the stabilization issues but it should boost the nighttime shots. Nice LT revuew. I wonder if you will revisit the Redmi Note 8 Pro? My wife has been using it and quite enjoys it. I have a Note 7 and would like to upgrade this summer.

As a former owner, I can say that this is an AMAZING phone with one HUGE flaw. The in-call and speakerphone sound SUCKS(very poor low volume). This is not to be confused with sound from media which is great. Clearly, the speaker IS capable of being loud, but Xiaomi chose to gimp it when talking on the phone. Because of this I was forced to switch to a Note 10+ which has exactly the same CPU, but the SOUND is so much LOUDER and CLEARER in CALLS.

People can say what they want/believe. To me the mi9 with 1080p60fps video is still a BEAST and lose only for really expensive phones like p30 pro, galxy s10+ or iphone 11 max. Night mode is not up to today flagship standards, i can agree with this, but gcam helps a lot on this matter. Overall i'm still impressed with the cameras, the performance and the battery life.

Face unlock feature is too important to me and that's the main reason I picked Mi9 over Mi9t Pro.
MIUI is not great, but it's not terrible neither. Updates for the older phones still come out, when other brands barely give a shit about phones that are older than 1 year.
