I'm actually looking to replace my excellent, but aging LG-V20 with either the Pixel 3aXL or Xiaomi Mi9 for about the same price. Obviously stock android, 3yrs of updates, AI photo processing, and all LTE bands are a huge advantage in the US and I know specs aren't "important", but a much bigger screen, faster CPU, more onboard storage, IR remote, and definitely the wide and telephoto lens options are kinda hard to ignore. I really love the wide angle lens and IR blaster on my LG and that's hard to give up.
I think is very subjective review based, maybe, on your encounter with MIUI software. I have it from more than a month and i must say in general is a real deal. It is not perfect but for 400 USD ... not £500 as you said, (it has that price for a while); Battery - 36 hours with 6 hours SOT normal use; 12 hours with 5 hours SOT heavy gaming - more than 3 hours (World of Heroes); Draining Battey overnight 0.5%/hour with 2 SIM's - wifi, one sim 4G, one 3G; So the battery: - facebook drains - 10%-12%/hour; - youtube video 1080P sound at 3/4 - 11%/hour; - TH-cam Background - 5% hour; - World war Heroes - 20%/hour - Game; - Temple Run2 - 10% -14%/hour - Game; - Hotspot 12%/hour (only hotspot with display off and 200Mb of data consumed); - Maps - 18%/hour; - Camera - 22%/Hour; - Video - depending, from 20% - 40%/hour when recording 4k - 60fps, but is getting very hot; In those numbers is total draining (with screen/ SIM/ Wifi etc) Don't expect miracles - is a small battery though. Display - Amoled; Great viewing angles and the black is black :); Low battery consumption - except in direct sun when the adaptive contrast and max brightness will drain battery much faster; Software - Not a single crush an i'm a very messy user; Camera software decent - never faulty; Settings a bit different but - i never try to understant those settings.... i allways use the search; Never saw an ad; Camera - More than decent in good light; Not quite a deal in low light - but Gcam makes wonders :); Video - good stabilization even in 4K --- Video sound kind of poor :(; And yes this is my first Xiaomi, i am not a fan of any brand. just saying...

Thinking about going for a Mi 9 SE after the Pixel 3a turned out to be kind of a one trick pony. Are there any concerns with buying from China. The LTE bands cover the main UK ones but not many compared to mainstream brands. Would you end up taking it abroad and having no signal? Also rumours around that the global ROM also has worse battery life for some reason too (not sure if that's just specific to the SE though)
The Mi 9 SE version sold here in the UK works in the EU and most countries in South East Asia. It hasn't got the necessary LTE bands for the US as far as I know. The One Plus 7 and the Pro version have the LTE Bands for EU, Asia and the US.
What? I get around 7 hours of screen on time with my mi9 , if i don't play games and watching videos i can easily run it for two days almost. If that is not a great battery life shoot me

@@michaelazurisagustin8567 the S10+ does have slightly better battery life, but I keep it at FHD resolution so I'm not sure how it compares when at the highest resolution. Dude you really did a sad review here. I am not a reviewer but a tech junkie. I own Galaxy S4-S9+, LG G2-G4, LGV20, V30, iPhone 6plus and a 8plus for good measure. I bought a Mi 9. I've heard different issues with different software's and regions. Like global, EU global, and Chinese. I have Global that's on 10.2.26.0 and I'm not have any issues at all with MIUI. So I would have to say which version do you have? Also Netflix will be adding it but you do get TH-cam HDR content. Also Amazon will be doing the same. The camera works great. Yes it does have a lot of features but if your buying a flagship phone that has the hardware this one does and your into photography then it's a A+. If you are into just point in shoot it does that to lol. You truly make it out worse then is. Every phone I've every had or have has it's own little issues. Unless you going from S8-S10 like same company each company will always have a different skin that certain features are different. Last. This is another reason why I asked you said the battery life was not that good for you and with a certain update and region it had a draining issue. I get 10hrs easy screen on time and that's with a total combined average 16-19hrs and I've never run out. I do a lot of photo and video which uses the most power as well. I've gotten over 11hrs SOT before. It has been tested with all the current flagships and it beat the note 9 by more then a hr SOT, it ran neck and neck with the S10+ and beat the S10 5g and pretty much beat everything but lost to the P30 pro by 30 minutes. So truly your talking bad about the battery but that's not the case. Many of reviewers have don't the drain test with it and it is on the level with any 2019 flagship. Sorry but it needed to be said

What software experience exactly? It is using Android OS 9, right? Has an MIUI over it, but can be customised using different launchers? Havn't watched a single reviewer having bad software experience...
Anyhow now I decided to leave comment that worth reading. I have got my hands on a MI9 at a very cheap price due to Black Friday deals etc. Years and years I was an Android user and since than IPhone X and wanted to go back to Android. I am abit meh about the MI 9 as even at the price I got it for still an OKish phone. Very fast and Takes decent pictures. 4K videos stutter and just been let down by the SW rather then the HW. I can’t see using it as an everyday phone. Back of the phone feels very cheap and for me onscreen finger print sensor is a bit of hit and mis. It’s just not a fluid experience

The V40 I studied real hard before I went to the Mi9 as I was looking to possibly buy it. It was a front runner. The display on the V40 is very nice. On camera testing though the Mi 9 beasts it pretty good. The Mi 9 is made up of gorilla glass 6 and 5 on the back so it's very strong. I'm so sick of hearing people always wanting to have stock android experience yet uses Nova launcher.
Michael John Honestly MIUI paired with a stock launcher is pretty great 👍 I love everything in MIUI 10 except the lack of an app drawer and can’t wait for MIUI 11
I have two phones running MIUI 10. It's ok. One of the phones has only 16Gb space and I loathe the fact it's so locked up. I always run Nova and would much prefer stock experience than MIUI, but like the reliability of Xiaomi compared with other low cost Chinese device companies which offer very hit and miss hardware.
I got tired of waiting for the US release of the zenfone6 and ordered the Mi9 at $399, despite the smallish battery and UI issues. Everything is a compromise and hopefully I can mitigate the shortcomings.
Ummm you're supposed to enable pocket mode so you don't accidentally activate apps and such in your pocket... Most definitely your fault on that one

And the front camera I barely use, so it's nice that it won't uglify the phone with a notch and just will stay hidden.

Otherwise it's fine, software is good if you are used to it and battery life is awesome for me even though the battery isn't one of the bigger ones(up to 7 hrs screen on time) I think it's really good and it shouldn't be hard to recommend.

Hell I will show one where I got 8hrs and 58 minutes SOT with combined 16hr and 40 something minutes.
And no I like to see my screen mate! LOL. It's on auto brightness but I am always pushing up on it as I tend to like it at least at 50% or so inside. Outside its always auto so I don't look at where it's at but it's never at a spot that I ever have a hard time seeing it.
The display is plenty bright.
In drain test all over the TH-cam there are videos of it beating the note 9 by more then a hour. Beat S10+ by a few minutes in one got beat by it by a few minutes in another. Best S10 5g by 20+. Beat OnePlus 7 pro by 30 minutes in one test where the OnePlus 7 pro is set at quad HD and 90hz as that's it's selling feature.
So please take your nonsense some where else. I actually own the phone and I have the screen shots to prove it. I own a lot of flagships and I even put a 4200 mAh in a LG V20 and it can't beat the Mi 9 either.

I think is very subjective review based, maybe, on your encounter with MIUI software. I have it from more than a month and i must say in general is a real deal. It is not perfect but for 400 USD ... not £500 as you said, (it has that price for a while);
Battery -
36 hours with 6 hours SOT normal use;
12 hours with 5 hours SOT heavy gaming - more than 3 hours (World of Heroes);
Draining Battey overnight 0.5%/hour with 2 SIM's - wifi, one sim 4G, one 3G;
So the battery:
- facebook drains - 10%-12%/hour;
- youtube video 1080P sound at 3/4 - 11%/hour;
- TH-cam Background - 5% hour;
- World war Heroes - 20%/hour - Game;
- Temple Run2 - 10% -14%/hour - Game;
- Hotspot 12%/hour (only hotspot with display off and 200Mb of data consumed);
- Maps - 18%/hour;
- Camera - 22%/Hour;
- Video - depending, from 20% - 40%/hour when recording 4k - 60fps, but is getting very hot;
In those numbers is total draining (with screen/ SIM/ Wifi etc)
Don't expect miracles - is a small battery though.
Display -
Amoled;
Great viewing angles and the black is black :);
Low battery consumption - except in direct sun when the adaptive contrast and max brightness will drain battery much faster;
Software -

Camera software decent - never faulty;
Settings a bit different but - i never try to understant those settings.... i allways use the search;
Never saw an ad;
Camera -
More than decent in good light;
Not quite a deal in low light - but Gcam makes wonders :);
Video - good stabilization even in 4K --- Video sound kind of poor :(;
And yes this is my first Xiaomi, i am not a fan of any brand.

The UI is not bad. But because of EU law many features are missing because of copyright issues. If you switch to Hong Kong language, you have a theme store with anime themes, sounds, and differences in the whole system. It is just great!!!!!

Just bought it at Amazon for 370€. Never had a Xiaomi, looking forward to it.
You will love it 😊
how is it? looking to buy one soon
@@bazookah187 I really like it. I'm sure the a Galaxy S10+ is still the better phone, but not by much. And definitely not considering the massive price difference. I feels very premium and looks amazing in blue. I upgraded from a S8+ and the Mi 9 is better in any way. Very smooth and fast phone. So glad i don't have to miss out on an Alway-on-Display feature. What i didn't like was the stock launcher without the app drawer, but i use the Rootless Pixel Launcher anyway, so that is a very minor issue i had.
@@UebelBAM thanks for the reply! I've heard nothing but good things about the phone, will definitely get my hands on one of them!
I have one and it is quite definitely the worst phone I've ever had. I'm guessing the digitiser is faulty, but just in case, here goes. I get constant notification overlays whilst doing simple things like entering passcodes or scrolling up or down listings in apps like Twitter, facebook, amazon, Reddit etc. I loved my old honor 8. Wish I still had it and not this dial in your pocket piece of **** . The built in apps are so add bound that it takes days to dig through the settings and switch stuff off. Also, many apps stealthily duplicate Google functions in such a way that you are not sure whether you're using Xiaomi or Google. One thing's for certain Xiaomi mi 10 will not be my next phone.
I'm getting the redmi k20 pro from China, the global version
*global rom
I wouldn't get the global Rom it can give you problems with your account and it will already be opened when you get it
What's that 2:18
