This is one of their most popular songs, and for good reason. This performance, in particular, is beyond perfect. You noticed Jukka, the drummer, really doing his thing on this one. He was certainly one of the most talented drummers around and it is a pity he had to step back because of his severe insomnia. But, his replacement, Kai, is every bit as good, though in a completely different way. I do think you need to listen to a song where Marko takes over the lead. High Hopes, from the End of an Era concert, will give you a good indication of just what Marko can do. Not to mention that both Jukka, and especially Emppu, also shine in that one.

That's right, that moment (minute?..) of communion of all those present starts about before Emppu's solo and lasts until after the final note, and the message from the fans' poster comes as a confirmation, which helps us to be aware. For a minute, everything is as it should be. A bright place, outside of concrete reality, where there is neither sadness nor sighing..

Jukka catches my attention all the time as he is a very physical style drummer. I remember reading a comment about his stick twirls in this and it said drummers do it because they’re bored.😑 Ummmmm, no! It’s done for show and fun. I’ve been playing drums for almost 50 yrs and not once have I ever twirled my sticks because I was bored! 😂

Nemo is the latin word for "no one". The music video is really dramatic. Every Nightwish Fan knows that song and it is a beautiful live song. I hope we will have more reactions to Nightwish on your channel soon. You make my summer better with the Nightwish reactions. I hope you will also react to Epica soon.
And to think, most at this Concert had never seen Floor, at least not in this role as front woman for NW. They were used to either Tarja or Annette. Those women were the singers on all NW albums to date. And these songs were written for the other singers. The first album with Floor did not come out until 2015 or so. Some may have known Floor from her previous bands, however those band were not at the same level as Nightwish. I venture to say most left this Wacken concert pledging allegiance to their new Queen.

Enjoyed your reaction! Yes that piano melody at the start is instantly identifiable to Nightwish fans. One of their most iconic and commercially successful songs. One of the songs where I love Floor and Tarja's performances equally. My first introduction to this song was the original music video with Tarja which is fantastic and which you should checkout if only on your own. The song really fits Tarja's dark, witchy, operatic voice perfectly. You can tell this is one of the best composed songs because it has been performed in many different styles but always sounds great. Whether the acoustic version from Planet Rock or the stripped down almost jazzy version Floor does in her 2021 Amsterdam solo show, both are fantastic and very different. Also you should checkout Floor's version of Nemo from their 2022 Human Nature tour. She adds a 15 second F5 belt at the end of the song. Hellfest or Pinkpop are probably the best videos to see her slay that F5.
"Nemo" means "nobody" ... so the song is not about a clownfish or a Captain. Tuomas is so deep, there's always something to glean from his lyrics. They were REALLY in the pocket for this particular concert!

I've noticed Jukka's stick twirling before, and on this number in particular. You have to have fantastic confidence (and competence) to be doing that on stage, in the concert of a lifetime, with the entire band depending on your cues. (Jukka has the click track in his ear, and everything they do is synced to his drumming, which is why the symphonic and choral tracks are so perfectly timed.) I'd be hanging on to those sticks for dear life in that situation!
If you really want a treat, check out Nightwish's cover of Phantom of the Opera from the 2005 End of an Era concert. It's with the band's original lead singer Tarja. She has a very operatic voice and Marko sings as the phantom.... To say it is a spectacular performance is an understatement.
Nemo was the first real hit single for Nightwish and is still on the setlists at almost every show, having been played more than any other at 638 live performances.
Jukka is always doing stick-tricks but this performance captured more than any other I have seen.

Exactly what your saying about Jukka, NW's drummer back then, he's not only a magnificent drummer, it's not show he just lives it, and for me he's one of the greatest! Sadly he had to stop due to his chronical insomnia causing he couldn't keep up anymore with the touring! Kai, his succesor, is also a great drummer but to me he misses being so into it! Btw, Jukka and Kai are best friends since long and it was Jukka who asked Kai to follow him up as NW'shes drummer. Jukka is still around doing many things backstage, he will be missed on stage doe. At one gig (can't recall which one) he couldn't hold back, came on stage to play once again for one song and the crowd went wild. If you want to see him really in action watch the high hopes (NW'shes version of the Pink Floyd song) video, during that song he had a serious migraine attack but kept on going, if you watch closely (somewhere around a little more then 2 minutes in the track) you'll see Tuomas giving a sign to Emppu to go and check on Jukka, but everything went on. He's a drummer extraordinaire, but hey, aren't that all mombers of NW???

Red....This one is Iconic. The first Nightwish song many of us in the Americas ever heard. Was popular in Brazil in early 2ooo's and spread over the borders. Enjoyed it, thank you. Be well.

About those drummers tricks, as far as I know, drummers make those swirls, not to show off but actually keeping their hand busy. It helps them for example change the rythm and keeping hand in motion for wanted perioid of time. Jukka was playing with his sticks, but Kai is doing it even more. Though, Kai does it usually before the song starts or in the middle when there is no drumming.
As a contrast, try Floor's version of this song from her solo Amsterdam concert in 2021. It's.... quite different. And I love it.
Emppu in particular is very playful. He and Floor have some moments. There's one video, I forget which, but he turns off her (sound thing, forgot what it's called) as he passes behind her. lol I know you've done I want my tears back but you really need to do or at least watch it yourself, the Buenos Aries live version, the crowd sing to the band and Floor has a ball during the song. It's so good. I think you're ready for The Greatest Show on Earth now. Worth getting the lyrics up for it or captions.

This performance was golden, beginning to end, and somehow a glorious culmination of a 500 something day world tour, where Floor had joined the band in Seattle mid tour. Some stats of that tour are mentioned in the trailer on the show opener 'Dark chest of wonders'.

This is one of Nightwish's most iconic songs so they have played it lots and lots of times and the audience know and love it. It is also from Tarja era so the audience are probably very happy to hear that Floor performed it "Floorlessly" 😁

This was a widely accepted Tarja era song. Tuomas used to hold back the crowd at the start back then, but by this time he had stopped doing that. Further, the popularity of this song turned massive. I was at this concert. People in the audience were singing this with her and the band drew a lot of popular energy from this. This song was just before the instrumental and Floor's costume change.

Did you catch Emppu plotting with Troy about the upcoming prank he is going to play on Floor. He is going to turn off Floor's In-Ear earpiece. In don't know what Floor listens to in hers but it commonly is a beat or only part of what the band is playing.

@@redheadedneighbor If you do the song "I Want My Tears Back" from the Wacken 2013 concert use the Nightwish Arena video. At about the 4:20 mark you will see Emppu cross the stage right behind Floor. She suddenly looks away from the crowd and looks at him while she reaches behind herself to turn her In-Ear back on. For the rest of the song she keeps a close eye on him whenever he is near her.
Emppu and Floor like to play tricks on each other. Watch the video of "I want my tears back" from Helsinki 2018: th-cam.com/video/2kkokEGGclc/w-d-xo.html. Here you can see Floor trying Emppu to join dancing with her and he runs away and trys to hide for the rest of the song (also Marko one time hides near Troy). They together obviously have much fun on stage.
If you like new bands you should try Liliac. They are a five piece family rock band. They started out with great covers and now they have a lot of original music. Everything they they do is great.

Yes, Jukka at it's best. Kai is a technical excellent drummer, but the only NW-drummer is Jukka. Sorry for His health issues. But he further is with Nightwish in the background.
So, this is Tarja's song for me and probably always will be. However, I totally agree about the band's cameraderie being on full display here, how they are all enjoying the show and each other. And it's part of what makes this concert such a delight. Jukka is a true showman - he deserves to be in the spotlight sometimes, and director Ville Lipiäinen gives us plenty here. It's a great DVD.
