Great review. My initial reaction when this went public was how it compared to the Pro and glad to find this Now it makes me really think about how they’ll update the Pro in the coming future with some of these new enhancements.
I used the Pro series for two years and the SDR version on two projects. I want to discuss my understanding of the SDR series. The SDR series is built for the DJI gimbal. There is no need for a battery when you use the DJI Ronin Pro series. The TX can be powered by the Type-C tap on the gimbal, like the Lidar or focus wheel. It turns on/off simultaneously with the gimbal. Most of the time, It is hard to tell the difference in image quality between the pro series and this one. But it does drain your battery faster. When I used the RS 4 Pro, it worked for 2.5 to 3 hours straight. I am planning to buy a BG70 for it. That should be enough. Compared to the Pro series, it has no SDI output. I can't pass the signal from the cinema camera to the transmitter to the cam monitor like I did on my FX6. But It is perfect for B Cam on the Gimbal.
If you were to choose between the Hollyland Pyro S and the DJI SDR, which one would you choose? Clearly it depends a lot on what you are going to use them for, in my case it will be for monitoring.
Hi got a question, I am looking to purchase this system, I currently use an A7Siii and an A7IV, I use a alien hydra rig ( I do a lot of car cinematography) My main question is, can I connect my cameras to a Apple tablet and have all the camera functions on the tablet ? Just like the OG DJI transmission ? Main reason I really need this to be honest, for focus leaking and monitoring of meters. If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it Thanks
Do the Pro and SDR versions work together in a multicam situation? I have the original pro combo with monitor and would like to add a second Tx that’s smaller.
The latency is 80ms if you calculate the camera and monitor latency, It's not the transmitter latency! DJI claims 35ms for SDR transmitter only (on 1080p60). And if you use phone or table (without receiver) it use wifi and not sdr, so the delay jumps up to 110ms, so keep this is mind.
Are you pulling focus on the DJI Transmission Pro? At 80 ms, how is it? Is that 80 ms, just the wireless unit or with the monitor and SDI/HDMI delay as well? What is the normal transmission delay you find useable for pulling focus?
@@4sightfilmsLLC i never tester dji units, i use hollyland mars and pyro. Note that dji has faster delay than 80ms. There is something you have to take in consideration. Cameras have delay, cables have delay, monitors have delay, so you have to take those in to consideration. Depends on how fast the scene is, but a good AC can pull focus with 100ms and more. For normal shooting a system with 35ms (1080p60) or 70ms (1080p30) its really good. If you want 0 delay (trasmission unit only) you have to go with teradek
@@lucabortolami Thank you for responding so fast, I appreciate it. With the Pyro units, you are getting 4K with a similar delay to these new DJI SDR units, at higher quality. Which is respectable considering it’s 4K not 1080p right? Do your first AC’s require 4K resolution to focus pull, I’d imagine they can’t see the quality different unless the monitor used is above 7 inches. What are your thoughts and experiences? Thanks again!
Just want to confirm, sounds like this works without Wi-Fi yes? If I were to shoot in a remote location the transmission could still be received in the app?
100m and you're risking a small amount of glitching, 200-300m max in public place and it's still usable for low bandwidth streams. My conclusion so far anyway.
Hey! I have a crazy idea it could possibly make life even easier for solo creators, is it possible to mix it with a @DJI gimbal to kinda shoot tracking shots or even be able to compose the shot from a distance?
if you want the lidar compatibility to do things like focus pull though, you can still only use the transmission system with high bright monitor though, yes?
Did you connect the TX to the phone on top of the camera via usb-c? It seems it is unnecessary to connect the phone to the TX via wifi which would introduce a bit of latency.
Kinda feels like the pro version is just priced so high because studios with a budget don't care, kind of like corporate products are the exact same thing as the consumer version (or worse) for 10x the price. Is the latency on this more than with the high bright monitor and dji ronin 4d?
80ms is just like the older Hollyland Mars 400s Pro. Focus pulling will not be spot on. I guess its because there is no input on both devices (no loop option), only on the more expensive dji transmitter. That means you would have to go into the camera monitor first and then into the transmitter, which makes the signal slower. No upgrade for me, coming from the Mars 400s Pro. And the App by Hollyland works great! The Hollyland Mars 400s Pro II has 70ms, just like the expensive dji transmitter.
Hi bro I have watch out your course and wanted buy a single source light (key light ) for the shooting video I want to buy the Nanlite FS-60B Bi-Color Studio Spotlight so long story in short can u please make your video on that or maybe just tell me your opinion I think your will be good for me please feel free to let me know
Well, all the 0 latency transmission device on the market does not compress the image at all, which is great for low latency and high image quality, but not so great at range, since wireless bandwith drops off pretty quickly when signal gets weaker. In ideal condition, the rated range for Teradek and Vaxis is only 1km, while dji transmission is 6km. Maybe dji can add a low latency mode without compression.
@@qiyuxuan9437 yep, and they already have two systems now that can go for more than 2km. Time for them to now come up with a system to use with their high bright monitor that is able to display all the Focus Pro focus tools but with much less delay that is usable. Most report have latency at 70ms NOT 35ms like others here are claiming.
Bruh i am new to all this i had a question! How do the big movie or series creators manage the files hence they are very large in size how do they record that and how do they keep it till editing
Yo dude, I’ve worked on a lot of big projects. Typically when shooting you are shooting on very large cards example, 1TB 2TB. There will be multiple cards and possibly multiple cameras. That’s when the job of the DIT comes in. They do many things, but one thing is off loading and organizing footage on set. There are many different ways to offload, some of which include, Shotput pro which allows transfers to multiple locations at once, a NAS system, Hard drives, ECT. They will always backup, double backup, when shooting. There’s extensive labeling and actually pretty big teams that just go to media management.
does anyone know if the SDR Transmission can still cast to the High Brightness Monitor or is this a COMPLETELY different system? cause I really like the smaller footprint of the new transmitters but sometimes I need a wireless monitor that just works without having to add an SDR receiver, connect it with a cable and get another monitor that needs ANOTHER battery, etc. bla bla bla
