  • What a beastly old chainsaw this Pioneer 400 is! 89cc of HEAVY duty chainsaw that is 62 years old and still doing what its supposed to do, cut wood. It's loud, like a motorcycle 😁
This antique chainsaw is in amazing condition, everything is there, nothing missing, even the old 20" bar is a Pioneer model. Pretty cool lumberjack special!

I absolutely LOVE seeing antique equipment like this still up and running. Much better than todays throw away garbage. Granted it's way before my time since I'm only 31 lol , but I'm definitely a old soul. I like taking something old and making it work again. I remember at 10 years old collecting old weed eats, saws, and mowers. I usually got them up and running again 😁. My mother came out to check on me one day and she said " you've got a grave yard out here don't you son? " I replied " most of them run mom !!! " She chuckled and said " well it's better than drugs, have at it !!! "

My dad had a big one when i was a kid. He bought it in early 60s and it was over 300$ then in 1960s $. I use to carry it n hold the measure stick on the log for him. It had a 36 inch bar so it was a biggin.

We had that saw when I was growing up. Temperamental, slow, and heavy were the kindest words describing it. Lugging it around was a good way to rupture yourself.

Definitely much better than today’s chainsaws people buy from Home Depot, Lowe’s or any home improvement store.

    • @JimmyMeatwhistle

Exactly, who knew they went back that far. This thing is pretty archaic too, very heavy compared to today's chainsaws that's for sure.

They are an eye catcher for sure! I scored a complete 1959 pioneer 600 last year off of craigslist for$20 bucks! Every guy that sees it in my collection of 60+ saws picks it out to drool over it. And I have to hear them beg me to turn loose of it for twice what I paid for it😆 I inform them that you can't just find these bad boys just anywhere! I named him Boughagard, The heaviest 26 pounds I have ever picked up! They don't make em like they used too, And you sure as hell would have a hard time finding the man with enough intestinal fortitude to be able to pack the damn thing around all day in the woods!😤

Those cork gaskets were common up until the 70's, to me the loop at the bottom is to hold the saw upright and the texture in the back does look like its designed to grip your foot, beautiful example you have there buddy.
