      Joseph was a total mensch! He deserves all kinds of respect. That's why I cannot believe that God would require him to have a sexless marriage and no more children after Jesus was born. Joseph deserved a normal married life and children to raise for his own heritage. I'm glad this show gave a nod to Jesus having real brothers and not just "cousins."

      @@taralohman6492 I can't believe God made Jesus do everything and say everything God wanted him to say and not of his own will, then died so that we can have our sins forgiven and opened up a path for the poor and lost to have a relationship with him?
      Did Jesus also not deserve a life with children and a wife to raise for his own heritage?
      God has put everything in place all by his own will and his very plan.. Joseph lived a life and witnessed what most people now would ever dream.
      Raising and caring for the very being that would grow to bring salvation to the whole entire world is in my opinion one of the greatest blessings you can ever be apart of. I'm sure Joseph wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

    I take the Rabbi saying, "Jesus, If you do not renounce your words, we will have no choice but to follow the law of Moses." as the same as him saying "Who do you say you are?"
    and the first 2 words in Jesus response is "I AM" , and the rest of the sentence "The Law of Moses" just blows it right out of the water and clarifies EXACTLY what He is claiming.
    Very powerfully written.

    • @kimberlywiederhold627
      @kimberlywiederhold627 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This shouldn't blow your mind. It should make you mad. Jesus never said any such thing. He said he came to fulfill the law. This statement is heresy. I'll stick to the Word of God. If you feel the need to watch a TV show to "make the Bible come alive" then you need to check your relationship to God.

    I guess I didn't imagine a "mob" on the cliff. They were people who had known Him his whole life. They probably felt like they should do something to Him because of His claims, but maybe weren't that enthusiastic about carrying it out when it came right down to it. And, of course, there was something supernatural going on to aid in His walking away from it. I also loved how He looked up to the Father and smiled as He left.

    • @drose1526

      Lisa me too!!! And did you notice when he first arrives at the cliff's edge, he looks around in the SKY looking...I think he is seeing Legions Of Angels prepared to scoop him up.....and you know God must have been looking on also. And at the end, Raffi Aaron and the Rabbi are standing like stone even though they wanted to kill him. I think the angels froze them in place to guard his exit. It's what we don't see in the scene that makes it such a "mike drop".

And said they didn’t like the story because simon and eden scenes was annoying. Or that there wasn’t enough scenes 2 by 2 of the disciples. But me personally not my favorite episode but it was good. Looking forward to ep5. Ep 7 and 8 are gonna be special and doesn’t have release dates. And title names yet. Some say they might release in theaters. But i doubt it. That would be cool though.

Intensity at tent city is the title of ep 6. but hey at least in ep 4 we get to see shmuel. I was wondering where did he go? we saw him in the season 3 trailer. He probably has an interesting role this season. I think we might see more explanation or flashbacks in later episodes regarding the 2 by 2 mission hopefully🙄

The NASB 1995 is good, a word for word translation. The ESV is used widely in churches. There are some great videos on here educating about the translations. The phrase for phrase translations are the NLT, the BBE, the more modern ones as well. I read them all.

    Jesus being the law can also be interpreted in context of a messianic passage in Isaiah 2:3-4 where the messiah is identified as "the law":
    "and many peoples shall come, and say:
    “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the house of the God of Jacob,
    that he may teach us his ways
    and that we may walk in his paths.”
    For out of Zion shall go forth *the law* ,
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
    *He* shall judge between the nations,
    and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
    and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
    and their spears into pruning hooks;
    nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
    neither shall they learn war anymore."
    So if Jesus is the messiah, then he is absolutely right to call himself "the law".

    Loved this episode. EXPECTATIONS. Your review was good. Who has noticed the text in Luke does not match the Isaiah of the KJV or any translation using the Masoretic text. But did match the Septuagint Isaiah or the Orthodox , which is from the Septuagint. So Christ was probably reading from an older Hebrew text akin to the source of the Septuagint that was possibly altered by the Masoretes to remove the line about restoring sight to the blind, the line missing in the KJV and other translations coming from the masoretic.

    'I Am the law of Moses' could be interpreted as i Am the Way (as in the way to live). So maybe He didn't say it verbatim, but He did say it many times in other ways. I found it plausible.

    The bridle represents control of the master over the animal. Could this mean that although Jesus set us free from the law, we are still to exercise self control, over the tongue especially? (Psalm 32)?

    The bridle probably belonged to his father. The donkey was used to get to Bethlehem for Jesus birth. Could be by the time Joseph died, the family could no longer afford to keep a donkey, but they kept the bridle.

    For a little bit of context for those who don't know the significance of Rosh Hashanah, it was also known as the Day of Shouting/Blasting. There were 3 types of blast patterns of the shofar, and one of the blasts, Tekiah, meant "Coronate the King". Shevarim = repentance, Teru'ah = revival of the soul.

    • @lesleyclaster6878
      @lesleyclaster6878 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Historical fiction starts with the facts and adds plausible backstory. The facts are the bones of the story. The fiction fleshes it out. But the flesh never turns to bone. The flesh gives life and movement to the bones. . The only place where flesh and bone become fact is in the Bible-the inspired word of God. In historical fiction, we need to discern truth from fiction. Comparing to the Biblical account gives us that clarity, just as it did for The Chosen writers. But they are mere mortals, after all, even though highly inspired storytellers. They own their own fallibility! Well done!

    It is important to note punctuation came with bible not with Hebrew scrolls. One word before or after the coma makes a difference.
    -Bible Luke "23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise."
    -Scrolls did not have numbers, periods or comas "and Jesus said unto him verily I say unto thee today shalt thou be with me in paradise" so they continued. If today appeared before coma it would read different.

    The term Rosh Hashanah does not appear in the Scriptures related to Yom T'ruah (Trumpets), but it only appears once, and that is regarding the first day of Nisan/ Aviv, 13 days prior to the 14th when Passover occurs, and the 15th when the first day of unleavened bread occurs. Yeshua didn't follow rabbinic traditions that were contrary to Torah and other portions of the Hebrew Scriptures, He exposed those traditions for what they were...and that is what I also seek to do...as should we all who follow His example.

    • @Grafted
      @Grafted  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are right the biblical text does not say specifically say Rosh Hashanah in passages connected to Yom Teruah and that Aviv is a spring new year. There is also an agricultural new year (multiple calendrical new years were common in antiquity) that begins during the fall holy days connected to the land of Israel and the Jubilee and Shmitah.

    • @cyh4031
      @cyh4031 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Grafted I am aware of 4 New Years in Judaism, yet only one is Biblical...3 are traditional. On several occasions, Yeshua rebuked the religious leaders for putting their traditions above the Scriptures. To call Trumpets Rosh Hashanah while saying little to anything about the real Rosh Hashanah is, to say the least, very sad. I am really puzzled why so many Messianics keep accepting and practicing talmudic traditions and making them equal to or greater than Torah itself. I was kicked out of one Messianic fellowship about 14 years ago for refusing to wear a yarmulka/kippa, even though I shared with them that Paul taught us that if a man prays or prophesies with his head covered, He dishonors his head, and I also shared with them that that particular tradition was adopted during their exiled in Babylon. In other words, this tradition goes against God's word in Jeremiah 10 and other places to not follow the worship traditions of the pagan nations they entered.

    • @drose1526
      @drose1526 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. I wondered about that also. What I came up with is....Mary and Joseph were already betrothed. That is like being married without the 'benefits'.
      Joseph married her right away once Gabriel informed him of the baby. Then off to Bethlehem where Jesus was born, then on to Egypt. The hometown bunch weren't watching. They just knew she and Joseph married and went to the census. So I think God spared them any social humiliation this way. Joseph was the key to that. By solemnizing the marriage Joseph was basically claiming the baby was his. Otherwise, the law would have taken her and had her stoned to death. God wasn't gonna let that happen. What do you think?
