I forgot to mention this in the video: While the woman with the discharge of blood is unnamed in Scripture, there are church traditions that associate her with the name Veronica (or sometimes Bernice) and suggest that she came from Paneada, which is likely a reference to the region of Caesarea Philippi (or Panias/Banias) both of which are consistent with her backstory in the show :)
Also, I realized that the reason Thomas isn't in the scene probably has something to do with him going to visit Ramah's father :)

No not all parts are biblical but they are relatable to everyday life. I love how the producer/directors added those scenes. I just went through what Eden did and I really appreciate that like if it was happening to me and helped me realize I am not alone.

Hi David. I just want to say your teaching and insight is amazing and I’m very grateful for your videos. I have been leading Bible studies on the chosen series and I’m glad to have found your videos. I have a question about some of the videos and I am wondering why you use the cartoon character of yourself on the screen.. I really enjoy when you are on the screen especially watching your reaction as you are watching the clips. The cartoon caricature is kind of a distraction and I fear it may delegitimize how knowledgeable you are.
My group is starting episode four and I see that the only video that digs deep is the one with the caricature. Can you if possible explain why you are doing that. Thanks so much❤️✝️❤️

All the signs about Gaius thus far make it a racing certainty that he's going to be centurion who asks Jesus to heal his sick servant and says he knows Jesus doesn't actually have to come, but just make the command without leaving his crowd. And I'd give even odds that he's probably the same one present at the crucifixion who says, "Surely, this man was the son of God!"

Yes! I notice that Thomas was missing from the table after they came back from being sent out 2x2. I thought I was the only one. I also noticed him missing after watching it the second time. I guess the show set it up so it looks like he's still working things out with Rhema's father. Clever.

      Her name was not Veronica.
That name came about from Ancient Latin and Greek.
      Vero- Latin for True
      Eikona - Greek for Image
      Veronica means True Image.
Jesus left the imprint of His Holy face upon her veil

I really liked this Episode for several reasons: we get a glimpse of the two by two missions - which is about all the glimpse we get from the Scripture; we get the normal human responses to this momentous experience of being empowered by God to help others - which means just like the other reactions we've seen in The Chosen by these everyday sinful, frailty humans, we see ourselves in the reactions of at least one of the followers; we see the challenges of working together in ministry - Mary Mag and Tamar and Zebedee or any of the two by two; we see what marital difficulties can be; we see how exhibiting the love of Jesus to those outside belief can build a bridge to relationship - Simon and Gaius as well as Eden to Veronica; we get introduced further to new characters and see how they are impacted by Jesus and will impact the story of his followers - Jairus and his family as well as Veronica; we see the progression of Rabbi Yousef's faith and Smuel's pursuit of his dogma. What's not to like? These vignettes of daily life are jampacked with information. And! We see, for one brief moment, Jesus. Full of joy and peace even though he's just been rejected in his home town and nearly tossed off a cliff. He's undaunted and victorious. Thank you to The Chosen!

Narrative reason: Thomas went on to ask for Ramah’s hand.

  • @dailecoyle8393

When Thomas was commissioned, Jesus purposefully sent him near Rahmas father’s house. Jesus told him to go to kafki after his commission was completed. If Thomas was in the scene with the other 11 I would have been disappointed. Wasn’t he gone because he was there??

Thanks for the insight into animism and it's connection to today's society. Is it a word that would have been used to label that practice in 1st century Israel? I wonder.
I also think that animism would have been a normal cultural thing in Egypt where Tamar's character is from. This brings me back to God's manifest power and sovereignty over the idols of the Egyptians in Exodus. I'm super happy to see her character written into the show and I share your sentiments that I hope that she is not the rich young ruler who walks away sad from Jesus saying that one must sell all to the poor, pick up the cross and follow Him. Tamar does mention that she is 'daughter to one of the 7 princes' of her land. I have to admit, it would be creative to turn that character into a female, but it could also be considered heretical. Maybe to avoid that error, the writers could use Tamar's character as a positive example whose journey/decision opposes that of the rich young ruler.

  • @vickydean3246

There is a narrative reason for Thomas to be missing. Jesus gave him permission to go to Kafni, Ramah's father, once his two by two mission was finished so that he could ask for Ramah's hand in marriage. It's also possible that the actor had scheduling conflicts which The Chosen writers used to their advantage by giving Thomas a reason to not return to Capernaum. Just like they did with the actor who plays Ramah. She had scheduling conflicts so they wrote her absence into the narrative. Slow down, David. You don't usually miss these kinds of details. Even so, I still love your work on reviewing The Chosen. 😊
