Our tour guide in Israel was a Messianic Jew, and she had a theory that Jesus was forming a new eye from the mud, in the same way that God formed man from the dust of the earth
She is correct! Genesis 2:6 But a mist went up from the earth, watering all the face of the land. 7 And the Lord God made man from the dust of the earth, breathing into him the breath of life: and man became a living soul. The spit represents the "Mist". This scene, Jesus is showing them he is the creator
After watching this, I looked at the episode that Thomas and Ramah asked Jesus for permission and I think his pained look and hesitation was because He knew they would never be married. I may be searching but it was such a heartbroken look
Jesus not brining back Remah is also a reminder that He was following the Father’s absolute will. And often in His will, He does not give us everything we ask for. His will is perfect.
I think Jarius expresses himself the way so many of us feel! When his daughter is healed, and he tells Jesus, 'Thank you. There are no other words. Thank you!' And now in this episode...'Yes!' Yep, Jarius is one of my favorites! Also, I love when a new Chosen episode comes out, because I know you two will soon come out with a reaction video, loaded with interesting historical context and information. Thank you so much!!!
It happened exactly forty years ago I accidentally discovered that I cannot see with my right eye at all, and perhaps I was born in this way as well. Godfather only knows the truth about it. But it is over now, glory be to Godfather, because it was prayed for to be able to read last weekend. My blindness is over now, because I can read now. Halleluia. Glory be to Godfather.Amen
I think your last statement sums up this whole episode and all the suffering in the last few seasons. You will have suffering when you follow Christ...but its worth it. He suffered and experiences sorrow. So many believers around the world suffer major persecution TODAY and still minister to their captors, enemies, and critics. He is worthy, but it isn't easy.😢❤
I remember being stunned in the theater with Ramah's death. The theater was silent for some time after it ended. That said, I can think of four plot points used by the death of Ramah. 1. Impact on Thomas leading to some of his issues. 2. Change of Roman authority in Capernaum, freeing Gaius to perform the role we have expected of him for years. 3. Impact on Ramah's father and his influence with the Sanhedrin and the change in mood and a growing desire to have Christ killed. 4. Possibly setting up Matthew 27:52-53. "52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many." They could choose random people to rise from the dead, but it would be more impactful if these are characters we know and love.
I just want to take a minute and thank you for whoever edits your videos and shows us the scripture that is in reference to the discussion! I appreciate it every time! ❤🎉😊
I absolutely love the character of Mary. Now she is someone I would want to hangout with. In so many of these scenes where Jesus is correcting the Pharisees she is just standing back with this tiny little smile on her face because she totally gets it.
Not sure where else to ask, so sorry for this wet blanket. I'm just wondering when the next reactions are scheduled for upload. Thanks for all you guys do.
I liked your analysis at the end. I do think the Thomas and Ramah story was added more for modern audiences. The issue of loosing a loved one is a common theme we can all recognize. The questions that we don't always get the answers to that we want is a common experience among believers. As you said, it draws us into the story. And the disciples (in future episodes) wrestle with similar questions as to the ones we have. Maybe they did not have these exact questions, but they certainly wrestled with human issues common to man.
I like that you pointed out that the way Jesus teaches is mostly slightly cryptic and not always crystal clear. This is a great way of encouraging questions and relationship, which is what God wants from us. Life often has paradoxes that are not immediately apparent. When teaching in this way, all these things can be taken into account.
I believe that Joseph died at some point before Jesus started his ministry. When my husband said something about Jesus healing everyone, I said, “He didn’t heal or raise Joseph.”
I have had a teaching on the reason for using spit in this instance, part of the messianic miracles to heal a man blind from birth, but particularly, if I recall, prior to this religious leaders were questioning Jesus' legitimacy of birth (particularly who His father was), and I believe I've been taught that there was perhaps significance in Hebrew culture to believe the first born son had healing powers in saliva. So with the religious leaders to witness Jesus healing with saliva, was another messianic sign that He is indeed a first born son (not illegitimate child as the leaders were trying to suggest).
Jesus recreating his eyes with the dust of the ground is the same way I understand what Jesus did with the man born blind. To Him be all the glory Amen
Thanks to you both and the Chosen, I finally understand why in my life I am constantly persecuted for my beliefs since I was a child. My country is not communist anymore, but the roots of nonbelief in Yeshua are deep. Inthink I finally understand and that is a great relief and gift. God bless you both ❤🙏🏼
Atticus seemed to think that Gaius was deliberately trying to sabotage Quintus by letting a riot start. But I thought he defied Quintus because he was beginning to believe in Jesus.
Healing in The Chosen would have to be very different than healing now, simply because so many of us belong to churches where healing is fairly common or because we have been exposed to people that do healing as part of their ministry, so we are like, “Oh awesome” but back then it would be more like, “WHAT, WHAT, WHAT, OMG HOW DID HE DO THAT, THAT WAS SO AMAZING !!!”.
23:51 Hmmm. Have you guys seen 'The Smiling Pharisees' over at Steve Shermett's channel? He's Rabbi Josiah here, and he with the actor playing Rabbi Akiva have a wonderful conversation with two other cast-mates who were in the same scene that follows this, reflecting on it.
I have felt like Thomas, I have been so hurt and devastated and just wanted Jesus to fix it, and in my spirit I have heard, I am so sorry, I am here and I love you, and you wonder why he won't just fix it and you wonder if he feels your pain at all, but he says in this world we will feel pain, it's not easy living on the earth and for some reason we have to go through trials and tribulations 😢
We are working on getting videos out as fast as we can! Some of our team has been traveling and attending to other commitments. We are excited to get these reaction videos out to everyone too! We're working on it!
The man was born without eyes. Jesus created them with the mud. He didn’t create anything from thin air. Think about the loaves and fishes and the wine. He started with some material. The healing of the man born blind was very significant.
Hello, I am really enjoying your discussions. You mentioned how hard it was for the apostles to grasp the meanings of Jesus teachings, His parables and the understanding of Peter's name change. Jesus wanted more time, like He said to Matthew when getting ready for the Sermon on the Mount. I need time He said. His disciples were still not understanding, but His purpose and destiny had picked up momentum. It was not going to slow down now.
He didnt heal everyone He came in contact with, when He went to the pool, He only healed the 1 guy (z's brother) but left the rest unhealed (historical accounts there were thousands there needing healing. Plus He had to have passed the gate beautiful not healing the lame guy that is later healed in Acts. the hard part about the Rhema scene is the verse that "He healed all who came to Him" and they did depict Thomas going to Him and asking (not to mention ask and you'll receive). I do agree with you about this setting up why Thomas doubted His resurrection so much.
47:33 so hard when you’ve lost a child or grandchild….its hard NOT to be upset at first. But I believe He understands our humanity. That’s why He came so He could experience life, and everything that goes along with it. 😢 I know you’ve experienced loss as well. It’s a process and you have to come to terms with it. And He says he’s always there even in the midst of this.
This happens so often. Picture books telling the nativity of Jesus from the perspective of a little lamb or from a little shepherd boy. It helps people understand the truth.
Hello’s grafted guys 😵💫 I have a question ,? Can you please help me , I have been hearing about the “transfiguration “ of Jesus can you tell me what is it. Thank you in advance I don’t know much of the bible, and I wanted to take your bible classes but I couldn’t find the button you are talking about: well warm regards and Divine Love 💕 Paulina ✨
These passages tell the story of the transfiguration of Jesus: Matthew 17:1-8: Mark 9:2-8; Luke 9:28-36; 2 Peter 1:16-18. You can take our course at: www.graftedu.org Many Blessings
Earlier in the gospels the word All is used, He healed all who were brought to him on some days, and healed the widow's son of Nain without being asked. This was not every day, and always in submission to the Father. There have been instances of healing in my family, and other times of grief when there was not. Even Lazarus did die- I hope as an old man, but scripture does not say, and the Sanhedrin were after him at the same time as they plotted against Jesus. God alone is on the throne and has the authority over life and death.
So true, gentlemen..my family is Catholic and I’m a Christian who is saved….trying to explain theology to them is something impossible…but all I know is the miracle that I was saved..and that’s it 🤷🏻♀️
I wish Atticus was the one that did the numbers because in the beginning of this episode it would have been “Atticus with an Abacus”. Although I do like “Always Eating Atticus”.
Repentance has the knowledge that we have no excuses before God. We acknowledge FULL responsibility for our sins. We realise how anathema our sins are to our holy God, and we are ready to run from ever doing them again.
Dr. Tom loooooves coffee and prefers to drink it from a tiny mug. He likes his coffee very hot so he pours a little bit at a time from a thermos as he drinks it. It's been a source of teasing and fun for many years!
Late catching up with this. I have often wondered what happened to those who were healed... those who had been beggars for years. Having been healed they could no longer be legitimate beggars. Just something I ponder.
On the word "confess" especially in 1 John 1, is more than just stating what needs to be said but rather our confession is our agreement with God about what sin is...
22:38. DNA can be found in our spittle right? If this is so, Jesus was using His PERFECT DNA as God to make over his eyes using dirt from which we came. Like a Master craftsman fixing an antique that's broken, Jesus was doing reconstructive surgery.
Mark - a follower of Peter and so an "apostolic man" Luke - a doctor who wrote what is now the book of Luke to Theophilus. Also known to have written the book of Acts (or Acts of the Apostles) and to have been a close friend of Paul of Tarsus. John - a disciple of Jesus and the youngest of his Twelve Apostles.
I think it is interesting that you brought up how the Romans used these other ethnic groups in their army and how now the Russians are using primarily people who are not ethnic Russians to populate their army as well.
The explanation is in 1st century jewish context. In the talmud, there are laws against making mud on shabbat and touching saliva. The purpose was to elevate God's law and show that their man made laws mean nothing. Shalom
Here is what I have an opinion on as to why Jesus made the clay. So far I have peace in my spirit on this possibility. The fact is, the man born blind seemed to be in such a bad way that people questioned the sins of himself or his family as the cause. Blindness was not new, nor was it new to Jesus who had already healed some blind eyes. I believe the man was born without eyes as a whole. Not just blind, but incapable of ever seeing because of the lack of eyes. Jesus, through whom all things are created (Colassians 1) made the clay, which we are made out of and actually formed eyes for the man. This is why this miracle was so big in scripture. This is why pharisees couldn't believe he could have done it without demonic help. This was a creative miracle. Putting physical, seeing eyes, where there were none.
i heard once that this man actually didn't have eyeballs and Jesus put the mud into his eye sockets because He was going to create new eyeballs. It may have been that it was a look back to the creation of Adam as a witness to Who Jesus is.
Quintus' tax intake likely suffered due to increase in population, use of government services/resources of those people without a commensurate increase in taxes. people in th the tent city paid no taxes, bought no retail licenses (also a tax), etc. likely, they were not employed. if they sold/traded anything or plied a trade, they competed with tax-paying citizens. they likely bartered for a higher percentage of their needs than city residents. that means that local businesses made fewer cash (easily taxable) sales to tent city dwellers than city residents.
Three major times Jesus lamented how little the apostles understood what was about to happen. They were as cluless as a rock. Then, suddenly, out of nowhere comes Acts 1-3, and guess who the main speaker is: Peter...now that was a miracle, indeed.
We are working on them! Dr. Tom has been traveling and we've had some changes on our team that delayed us. We'll have the rest of Season 4 our as soon as we can!
My wife and I personally feel Rhema getting killed was unnecessary, at the same time I get why they are doing this. They’re bringing real life situations, questions and experiences from all believers that may have had been these situations, experiences and have the same questions and bringing them into the show with the disciples at that time to prove that we are all the same and still deal with same issues following Jesus. And also my wife made a very good point that Jesus even said that He didn’t lose one except Judas, but again I get why they did this.
At the pool of Bethesda, only one person was healed in a very specific way, all the others were ignored. People certainly died in large numbers and were not resurrected. So he did not heal everyone, because it is the case that everyone must die.
My 10 year old said "imagine the first person you get to see is Jesus!"❤
Our tour guide in Israel was a Messianic Jew, and she had a theory that Jesus was forming a new eye from the mud, in the same way that God formed man from the dust of the earth
Wow!!! awesome!!!
That is what I was taught in Yeshiva

Appreciate your thoughtful and discipling analysis as always! The show is just an open door towards discipleship...

After watching this, I looked at the episode that Thomas and Ramah asked Jesus for permission and I think his pained look and hesitation was because He knew they would never be married. I may be searching but it was such a heartbroken look
I saw and thought the same.
I thought the same thing. I wondered at the time why He wasn’t smiling, & why He had a grimace. I found out my whys in the next episode.
It’s not a factual event so….
@@305niner Do you people actually think you're teaching anyone anything? Like buzz off, we get it, you're big mad for a living.
God created man out of the dirt, in the saliva of Jesus is the perfection of DNA. Put the two together and you have perfect eye sight.
❤ Love this DNA understanding
Great observation!
“Though I was blind, but now I see.” And Jarius with the fist bump!! YES!!! He definitely experienced God! Thank you guys for your insights.

I love how Jesus heals the blind man in front of witnesses and how he responds in belief.
I love hearing your explanations of what is happening in the Chosen. I cried so hard, hurting for Thomas.
Keep in mind that Ramah and their relationship is fictional.
