Update: I guess not. LOL! Matt is going to have to really do more to make this even a thought or 'option' for Braius because right now I see Matt feeding him exactly what he started the campaign with. Lord of Hells it is....plus it DEFINITELY goes with 'Bells Hells' theme.
I think that it really depends on what sam wanted and how matt brings that in. As it wasn't the Platinum dragon that banished him it was mortals so the dragon could talk to braaus telling him his sorry for what his followers did to him. But asmodeus can now talk to him about how the dragon did nothing even if the followers did it the dragon didn't contact the followers or Braaus about what happened it has been years but never said anything. But braaus hasn't done anything to need redemption other then stuff he had done while walking asmodeus's path.
I am curious if "destroying the temple" will be the full story. Maybe in the aftermath, seeing The Platinum Dragon being mocked shook his faith and in that moment Asmodeus gives him his first sign and takes credit. There is a chance that they will meet The Mighty Nien soon and instead of vengeance, maybe he thinks they were followers of Asmodeus sent to mock The Platinum Dragon. That could also shake his faith again and see that Asmodeus lied to him and he never needed to leave his temple and it was really just Artagon all along. Which if he is swayed so easily like this, there is a chance that he becomes a Paladin to The Traveler which could be hilarious too.
@@DeRoxx4114 I hope there’s more to what happened because everything that has happened to Braius to me at least is to much of a punishment for a single mistake was it a big mistake sure but is this punishment the right reaction no absolutely not
@@ZodiacBandit the thing with all of Sam's backstory decisions is they are always either way more sad or way funnier than you are expecting. The dichotomy of Sam Riegel.
I think it is possible that Braius did something way worse and is lying about the reason of him being banished Also: it would be really cool if Asmodeus could corrupt the Truthbearer and transform it into a relic anyway
I really like this video and I really hope Braius goes back to the Platinum Dragon, but every time I heard you say "he doesn't need redemption" in this video, I thought about how he considers his most heroic moment killing a man, skinning him and turning him into a cup which he still drinks from. That's horrid, that's evil. I can tolerate him saying historically inaccurate, making murals to the leader of the Betrayers and stupid assessments about the gods, but doing that to anyone is wretched. As for him being being excommunicated, it was mortals that fired him, not the gods. He failed at his one job. His purpose at the temple was to protect it from people that would do it harm. Jester and Nott may not have burned the place down, but they desecrated the temple and many of the artefacts there and it was Braius's fault. You would fire a chef in a restaurant if he couldn't cook, and you fire a guard if he couldn't guard the one building he's supposed to. Yes, it's horrible that his family didn't stick by him after the temple incident, but the fact that he so readily and willingly turned to Asmodeus, the Lord of Lies, is rather telling of how weak minded he is. Most other temple Paladins having gone through what had happened would go on a spiritual journey, still worshipping their god and trying to strengthen their bond. Braius got fired by a priest, flipped off the Platinum Dragon and hopped onto the back of Asmodeus's motorbike and told him to drive him somewhere where he could skin a dude... that's not right. Again, I really want him to be redeemed and reconnect with the Platinum Dragon, but to do that he has to indulge the fact that he's made some mistakes and done some pretty terrible things. What happened with Stanley wasn't okay, and serving a god that wants you and every other mortal dead and tortured for all time is not right whatsoever. Asmodeus has been shown torturing and killing his most loyal servants and generals, he only doesn't want to kill the Prime Deities because he wants to hear them scream in pain for all existence in the Nine Hells. Once Braius realises how messed up Asmodeus is and admits he's done his own fair share of evil it's only then can he truly begin to make amends with his god.
@@matthewmccann-willis162 if you were excommunicated from all your friends and family because you made a mistake the new people around you wouldn’t blame you it’s their fault they over reacted that’s why I don’t believe he needs redemption he made a mistake and was thrown away because of it redemption is there for the stuff he’s done after but not what he did to force him down that path
@@ZodiacBandit Okay, I hear you, his family abandoning him is rough, but when it comes to the temple its fair. If your a security guard at a museum and you just let people in who end up running amuck and vandalising important pieces of history just because they told you they were allowed to be there, you should be punished. As for Bells Hells, they're just so used to their own messed up morals that they don't register how messed up Braius is, also any time they do try and read him Sam rolls something like a 32 Deception.
Jester and Nott defiled the Platinum Dragon statue by painting it red, blue, green, black, and white--chromatic colors. It was sacrilege of the highest order, and Braius allowed the people who committed it into the temple in Zadash.

@@ZodiacBandit Jester is very much a character of "don't think about it, just do chaos and we'll figure it out later" so probably not, but that doesn't stop the people from drawing that conclusion. Especially in a temple.

I don't think Braaus is concerned with redemption. He's working on earning his place serving Asmodeus.

I agree! Pardon my language, but there’s not a chance in Hell of his redemption!
