@@MJHokagePSA is trash. People only use them because they grade super easy and have higher value to to being around so long and controlling over 70% of the market. They give out easy 10s so to me they’re not even worth having from a collectors standpoint. I’ve only ever collected BGS for that reason, but now I’ll add some pristine CGC cards to my collection.
Great video and great information. I like the look of the CGC Gold slab but it concerns me that it took that drastic of a step to pull up to PSA. I think you are right in your conclusion that we need more data than what is available.
CGC got so much heat for the label change. But you know what, I actually really like it. And the slabs are so clean! I love it honestly. I have a binder that holds toploaders with my ENTIRE collection since childhood. It's got base set, all the way to now with Obsidian Flames. I've planned on grading these for the last decade but never got around to it because I was never a fan of grading. And I'm still not a fan of graded cards. The only reason I feel people should be grading cards is to sell it. Why would I want all my cards turned into a bulky plastic mess? But that time is coming soon. I'm very experienced with bulk listing on ebay so I plan on listing every single card on ebay eventually as auctions. It's going to be a wild ride. I stand to make well over $30k, and that's being conservative. I'm holding out for just a little bit longer to catch an up market, cuz right now it's kind of flat. I could be waiting another year or two, who knows.
I am putting together a group of cards for my first submission once I get enough to make it worthwhile. I was pretty confident of going with PSA, but now I am considering CGC. I’ve got time to figure it out though. Appreciate the content.
Bro PSA imo is better. The pay off to you as a collector and investor is way higher. Even streamers (not saying this guy) are getting paid by CGC to market their new slabs.
Just sent in my cards to CGC last month, in my opinion having CGC, PSA, and becket cards. CGC slabs just look so much nicer. If your keeping for yourself definitely recommend CGC to resell maybe consider psa or becket unless you can get the pristine
This was an incredibly helpful and informative video, thank you so much for sharing your reviews! I've been on the edge about grading my cards as I know PSA are probably the most well known company, but I wasn't too keen on their prices and turnaround times so I will definitely look into CGC a bit more :)
I think I wil go with CGC when I start grading. Reason being, I also collect comic books, and I think their membership involves all their collectible grading? And CGC is kind of the default in that space. That said, I know PSA just launched their own grading service...well, we'll wait and see.
Any experience with cross-grading without breaking the slab? I have a PSA 10 Poncho Wearing Eevee Sylveon - Holo Promo 144/SM-P coming and was debating sending it to BGS in hopes of a black label.
I know this is an older video but thank you for the information it really helped. I believe I’m going to switch to CGC for my Pokemon cards. Keep my sports cards with PSA or SGC. What are your thoughts on SGC’s grading services for TCG cards?
i have 4000 CGC slabs and over 1000 PSA slabs, I agree with pretty much everything said in this video, with CGCs new prestine 10 they’ve become more attractive, altho it’d be nice if they had perfect and sub grades like before, which then therefore makes old blue perfect sub graded pkmn cards something of the past and limited. black label bgs looks good but very difficult to get, psa is still solid, but the fact that they’re about $5+ more per card is huge, making cgc my favorite right now
BGS BLACK LABEL > CGC PRESTINE 10 > PSA 10 > BGS 10 > CGC Regular 10, PSA 9 I've watched this video like 4x now. I would like to mention that I don't care much about market share or turn around times too much. The most important to me personally are 1) Appearance 2) Value 3) Grading cost. if we were to judge the big three grading companies on just those I think CGC would come on top even more. I don't think anyone can surpass PSA in market share. CGC was pretty bold to change up their labels, it looks like it paid off. I actually liked their subgrades before CGC jacked it up to $15. Over time I think people will give CGC the respect it deserves and consider them equal with PSA. I didn't like PSA once they had a management change. they became more about the profits and less about the customer. BGS black label rate is too low even after they've eased up on their standards. CGC prestine 10 like he said is quite doable. and if it cant get a black label or Prestine cgc 10, best bet is PSA. The right answer may be dividing up each individual card and really doing a lot of pre-grading to check condition. IG @churmander
Wow 4000?? My goal was or is to get 20 slabs and I was thinking that was too many. I was torn on who to use. Was obsessing over PSA but I’m really liking CGC plans and the look of the slabs. Pretty sure I’m going with CGC
CGC slab appearance has improved (would consider grading with them over PSA) and I like it, however, hands down the best looking is black label. Going beyond the 3 brands, my top preference is ARS fr Japan.
I can't speak for Beckett however when it comes to durability/feel of the slabs I would say that CGC takes the top. I just got a PSA slab from a mystery box and I wasn't thrilled flimsy feel of the slab
And I dont agree how you give 5 stars for Beckett value. No it’s not. If you send 10 pack fresh Charizard VMax cards to BGS you are likely to get 1-2 (or 3 on a good day) Pristine Gold Label 10, and the rest as 9.5 Gem Mints… The problem is with their 9.5s… It only holds about 60-70% price compared to PSA10 of the same card. So if you send hundreds of cards, the majority of it will be 9.5s.. And the 9.5s will bring down the value of your bulk cards so hard That it wont even matter if you got a few Pristine Gold or Black labels, the overall value your graded cards wont be better than if you grade with PSA with their consistent Gem Mint 10s. If you add that with the cost of the grading that is significantly higher than PSA, the loss in value would be massive.
But even though the sleeve inside the beckett slab might mess up the reflection of the card, dosent it at the same time protect the card even more than the other Company slabs?
Opinions matter. I say BGS, PSA, & then CGC. (CGC does look better but the sub grades would have been epic and take over PSA imo). Also lots of streamers are getting paid mad money to hype of CGC, not saying he is but lots of ppl are getting $$$
I disagree with your opinion on the Beckett Label my dude. The PSA label looks hideous and not premium at all. The PSA slab also looks like fogged up windows 🪟. That together with the ugly label, it does not look premium at all. Yet, they are pricey. Their grading is also inconsistent. I’ll take CGC, AGS, Beckett all day long over PSA. Thanks for the Video
Thank you for a great video. I have so many cards I need to have graded and BGS is what I want but PSA is where I’ll stay for now. CGC I’m not that hip to. I’ll have to research it. I have mainly Japanese cards.
SGC isn't as big as the main three but they have really nice looking slabs and a special chance at their GOLD Label. I think that's somewhat unique and they have expert graders as well. Everyone just has their own opinion I guess.
I was scrolling for any SGC comments and I definitely agree. The slabs look so clean and does not look cheap, great durable material. I believe in a few years SGC will be more known in the Pokémon world, that’s the system I’ll be going with before it takes off!
idk going to black labels was a mistake imo for CGC. I loved the blue, it really stood out visually and the pristine 10 in gold with each category listed was awesome. Why would they remove that I loved it. Now it just looks like any generic sports grader. If I wanted BGS I'd go with BGS...
Great video. Feels unbiased. Nice work breaking it down. However, I am a little biased;) I am done with PSA. They have serious consistency/quality control issues. There’s a ton of PSA 10s out there in which the encapsulated card is NOT worthy of a Gem Mint 10. I have some even. So, as a collector/investor/flipper/honest human being….I have low confidence that when I purchase a PSA 10 that it is for sure (without doubt) a Gem Mint card. Also, why would I want to sell someone a “PSA Gem Mint 10” if I know damn well it’s an 8 at best??!! Not the service it’s boasted to be. Too bad that it holds the majority of the market. I will not be feeding the “beast” anymore. Time for CGC and/or BGS to surpass PSA. I know a CGC/BGS 10 IS A 10. And that’s where I’m putting my $$$. Wise up folks. PSA been dishing out 10s like Marilyn Monroe dishing out beejers.

I honetsly didn't know that BGS is placing a plastic sleeve inside the slab which imho makes it look a bit cheap while the label is the best of all 3 I think....
Spot on with the rating except the visuals, but this is just my personally opinion. Psa slabs looks to much sport card vibe to me. dont like the look of the label and the slab feels cheap with psa. Beckett slabs feel premium and CGC looks the best in my :)
Avoid PSA if you grade any vintage, they grade so much harsher for vintage specifically that it’s almost always results in a disappointing grade if you grade with them…. Their insanely high PSA10 value for vintage cards also tells you how hard it is to get such grade with them.
@@Bouncing_Pigyeah thats what Ive been hearing, especially more recently. Thoughts on HGA? The wide variety of label art is appealing if you can properly compliment the card art & HGA 9.5’s seem to cross over to PSA 10 consistently
My only issue is the label with cgc wish they go back to blue, cgc looks like a generic sports label, it looks like all the same label that pop up during the hype for grading.
Fair opinion for sure, especially since CGC comics still have the blue label. That being said the blue label just clashes with so many cards, a lot of people didn’t like that.
BGS just looks so much more professional in every single slab they offer. I disagree with it being the worst. Fits with any card. 🤷 CGC #1. If you hit pristine 10, sent to BGS to grade then sell. If you hit 9-10 regular, send to PSA for an easy 10 aand then sell for the extra market value.

I honestly really miss the blue label for CGC. I thought it worked well with Pokemon and Weiss Schwarz, and getting that CGC Perfect 10 felt fantastic each time. Pristine is fine, but it's just easier to obtain than Perfect, and now I find myself recasing my blue label Pristine 10s to get the CGC Pristine 10 label, all because people won't know it was submitted when Perfect was possible.
This is a serious question, but are you like well off 🤣, PSA seems so expensive am new too collecting and do like the look of PSA and the fact that everyone seems too like PSA and it’s the most reasonable but it seems way too much 🤷🏻♂️, specially for me like I don’t want too pay 99$ a year when am not gonna be sending cards every month
Only because it has the market. It’s like thinking an ugly celebrity is hot just because they’re famous. Cheap flimsy hideous slabs. Too easy to get a 10. Way over valued
Probably should have included SGC in your analysis to not appear bias. I’ve seen graphs showing their market share in tcg card grading is more than CGC and BGS. They also have some uniqueness to their product that would have added a lot to the discussion. ( black matt borders, very fast turnaround time) Thanks
CGC = junk slabs. real collectors know CGC don't increase the value of your cards. quite often times the opposite. after all the scummy things CGC has been doing over the last few years, I find it funny people still submit their cherished collectibles to them.
What did you mean when you said the cases were junk? They are fragile or you don't like there appearance? I'm a very young collector and have never graded before.

Nice.
cgc new labels dont have more demand lol
Probably should have included SGC in your analysis to not appear bias. I’ve seen graphs showing their market share in tcg card grading is more than CGC and BGS. They also have some uniqueness to their product that would have added a lot to the discussion. ( black matt borders, very fast turnaround time) Thanks
Their market share isn’t even remotely close to the three I reviewed in this video for Pokémon cards.
You are correct. I was looking at sports added in and I thought it was just tcg. I stand corrected
SGC
🔥👀💪
PSA slabs & labels are crap
CGC = junk slabs. real collectors know CGC don't increase the value of your cards. quite often times the opposite. after all the scummy things CGC has been doing over the last few years, I find it funny people still submit their cherished collectibles to them.
What did you mean when you said the cases were junk? They are fragile or you don't like there appearance? I'm a very young collector and have never graded before.
I’d never grade with psa or cgc. I like sgc
I don't think the CGC gold label will age well, probably will look tacky in a few years
& PSA is modern right 🤣🤣mate there slabs & labels are soooooo out dated it’s a joke
Lmao!!! Beckett's black lable looks like cgc's.... Hahaha reverse that😂😂😂
