Here are my hot takes on the latest releases from the houses of Guerlain and Marc-Antoine Barrois. Any thoughts on these?

(34:00 for highlight cat appearance 😻)
Enjoyed hearing from you about the new Guerlain Aqua Allegoria. Sounds chic! I bet the spice scent is great but I’m licking wounds over their recent price increases that are now exclusive to me. I used to avoid dupes but I’m considering one for Angelique Noire. Glad to hear the reformulated Vol de Nuit is relatively close to the OG. I love the updated Nahema + Après L’Ondee w/a passion. Love the green, Florian!

Hey there! Yes, the price increase is really unfortunate and it will definitely keep me away from more of their stuff in the future. As a huge fan of Angelique Noire i must ask you, how do you feel about LInstant de Guerlain? I believe they quite a few things in common! I must try the new Nahema and Apres LOndee then! On a different topic, i know you like carnation, ever tried the LHeure Bleue extrait? Im so happy to have finally isolated the carnation in Lheure Bleue thanks to the extrait. Years wearing this fragrance and it can still surprise me, i can still discover things. Amazing

@@MemoryFlo funny you mention L’instant. I have only de-accessioned 2 Guerlain scents in my life and L’Instant (the one marketed to women) is one of them. Too screechy on my skin. Haven’t tried the men’s. I haven’t tried L’Heure Bleue extrait but bet I would love it (I adore the edp, and can « pull out » the beautiful carnation). I find that some Guerlains are shape-shifters. Mitsouko challenged me for years but then all of a sudden I loved it and it spoke to me. Magic!

i got the EDT Li'Instant for women and i love it! The EDP was too much for me though. What was the other you de-accessioned? Was it LUI? I remember you saying it didn't suit you

Hello ! That was super interesting to get your point of view on these fragrances ❤
I really enjoy Nerolia vetiver. I wore it a lot these last months and I think it reconciled me a lot with neroli fragrances 😆 The only one I enjoyed so far was Neroli outrenoir.
Concerning l'Habit rouge l'instinct, I liked it at first sniff despite the strange aquatic opening which reminded me of 90s fragrances. But when I tried the EDP and EDT, well indeed it doesn't stand comparison 😅
I have not tried Vol de nuit in the inversed heart shaped bottle. I have the same version as you so I cannot tell if they changed it. But for sure I noticed some biggest changes in Mitsouko, Samsara and Chant d'arômes (even if they told their sales associates that only the bottle changed). I'd be interested to have your thoughts on these ones too 😊

Hey! Thanks for watching! My bigfest problem regarding the new versions of Mitsouko, Samsara and Chant d’Aromes and the rest is my local Sephora doesn’t host them at all which is really ashame. I would love to see how they compare and maybe i’ll get the chance to do that without purchasing all the bottles as it would really be a waste since i have them in the old bottles. My bigfest concern at the moment is with the extraits. I hope they make a decision soon as if Vol de Nuit extrait wont be available it will be very difficult for this house and its fans.
If you like neroli, give La Cologne du Parfumeur a try! Cheers!

@@MemoryFlo I was afraid also that they would discontinue the extrait. This is why I jumped on a Vol de nuit extrait as it was on my wishlist for so long. Apparently they are not discontinued, they just struggle getting the ingredients so they should back soon (but maybe in smaller quantities). Thanks for the tip, I'll check this one next time I go to my Guerlain counter 😊

You did a very good thing in getting the extrait. I’m most afraid of the bottles not being available as crazy as that sounds but the way they did away with so many iconic bottles before transferring them into bees for the main line is something they might do with the extraits to cut costs. As insane as that sounds, i’m at least happy i got my Vol de Nuit Extrait bottle.

Monsieur Memory Flo, thoroughly enjoyed your Guerlain update(s). I’m wearing Nerolia Vetiver frequently, quite the unusual scent. Don’t believe I’ll be searching out (not available in US) L’instinct habit rouge. Reviews have been ravaging (how can MsJelk have created both?). I recently participated in a Guerlain workshop (via Zoom) & the rep refused to answer some of my questions! One question being why release L’instinct & when will it be D/ced? As for epicene’s (spelling) will wait til fall/winter to assess if I want it in my collection. Again much thanks for your keen insights & imaginative reflections! (Oh I almost forgot Vol de nuit, I as well will always seek it out). John

Thank you for watching! It’s really a shame about LInstinct, and indeed it’s pretty difficult to cope with the fact that they were done by the same person as Nerolia Vetiver. Do give Epice Exquises a try, it’s nice. Worth a bottle? Difficult to say. I like to have my Absolus d’Orient full so that’s just me

Dear Memory Flo, hi. For Vol de Nuit may the difference of the two version caused by different maceration time? For me the new version change very fast to an similar seventies men perfume like some older after shave

While it is true that a fragrance settles and changes over time, my Vol de Nuit has smelled this way since i got it, brand new. And it does smell more complex and more rounded then the current version. It’s interesting what you say about seventies men perfume as i always found Grey Flannel to be quite related to Vol de Nuit. Must be the galbanum. Cheers!

Nope, i couldn’t care less about them. I’ll try to smell them somehow, but i have zero interest. But you know, mahbe they turn out to be masterpieces 😅

@@MemoryFlo Yeah maybe Cherry Oud will give Vol de Nuit a run for it‘s money… Maybe Guerlain should hire Pierre Montale as the new inhouse perfumer 🤣🤣
