That sounds lovely. You might see if a bit of cotton would be useful as a backing for the hankies as they're usually quite fine and I think I'd use some old cotton sheet to help with the thickness...
Powder laundry soap used to come with a wash cloth in every box. My great grandma would save them till she got enough to make each grandchild a bed spread by crocheting them together and a crocheted rose at each corner. Absolutely beautiful gift
@COUCOUDEMETZ she never cut the washcloths She just crochet them together. Solid yellow washcloths, with light blue yarn crochet in 6 small rows to join each washcloth. A crochet rose in each corner of joined washcloths. Blessings
I found this spot accidentally and when I saw the squares crocheted together, I simply had to watch!! THANK YOU for showing such detail in joining the squares. Going around corners was always a bane of my existence in those little projects I dared and always needed "correction." Again, thank you.
Your video is wonderful. Aren’t we all so fortunate to watch these talented women from all over the world create. Hello and thank you from Granbury, Texas USA
I came across this wonderful talented woman. My goodness. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. I just had to save this one. I'm watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
Yes indeed, we are very fortunate! I would have never known about all the amazing ideas with quilting and crocheting. Hello from Sparks, Nevada, US. Basically Reno, Nevada
I just told my sister thar her granddaughter other grandmother quilts and I crochet and we both want to teach my great niece how to do these things. This would be a good "bridge projecf". Lol and I learn.some quilting
@reneechristensenpillow8373 how about a ladies' group .. maybe widows, that would work as an outing like the Red Hat ladies' group only without a lot of walking, standing, and traveling.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful gift. I'm 65 and I always wanted to learn to quilt. I love crocheting. What could be more beautiful than combining quilting and crocheting together!! It's such a blessing that your tutorial came up on my feed. Thank you so very much. When I complete the blanket I'm crocheting. I think I will give this a go. I hope you have a blessed day!! 😊❤
I am left handed, too. And I crochet with my right hand, too. That's how I learned it in school in Germany. I am so very thankful for learning all this early on. Here in the USA, it's not being taught in school which is such a shame. I love your tutorials!!!❤👍🏻🙋♀️
I agree. It really is such a shame how so many useful life skills aren’t being taught in schools these days. We had cooking, sewing, ceramics, calligraphy, typing, stenography, Spanish, French, wood shop, metal shop, and mechanics (probably a few I’m forgetting), in my high school back in the early 80’s. My boys had mechanics, wood shop, Spanish and Home Ec at their high school in the early 2000’s. I believe that’s a big part of the issues with youth in this generation. They aren’t taught the basics of life skills. I had to teach my Grandson (13), how to thread a needle. I then taught him to sew. He loved it so much that he asked for a sewing machine for his birthday.
Same here. I hold the hook in my right hand and move the yarn with my left hand. That is a true shame that these skills aren't being taught. We should volunteer to teach them and bring them back.
I think in the 'olden days' you were just expected to learn with your right because no-one wanted to think how to show us lefties how.... I remember it taking me ages to get my right hand to do it. But all these years later it's just so quick, even if I seem to be holding the hook a little awkwardly. It is a shame crafts aren't taught anymore. Without being on a soapbox or anything, I do think it's part of the de-valuing of what has been traditionally been seen as 'women's work'
I’m left handed and crochet left handed. My right handed mother had me sit across from her and watch. A bit tricky but I managed. She had learned all her needle work, crocheting and such in school in Holland before WWII.
I stumbled upon your tutorial this morning. I am smitten with your beautiful handiwork. I am excited to give it a go. I learn better visually. So, I appreciate your care given with directions. I am viewing this from Georgia..USA Thank you!
My grandma used to Hand Quilt, never used a sewing machine. She also crocheted and knitted, she taught me to crochet when I was 11. I embroidered when I was in high school but I haven't done it in 47 years. I love to crochet daily. Have a Artistic beautiful day 🧶🧵🪡❤
I showed my niece your wonderful fusion quilt tutorial, We spent a day shopping for the fabric and yarn. The next day we began cutting and sewing. We are making many happy memories. Thank you posting this tutorial. May you be blessed today and always.
Quilting has always been the most creative craft for me,one can literally make a million things with quilting.I just got into the quilting space and I love it here,I’m giving knitting a break to focus and learn more in quilting. Hoping to learn more things on here, shares ideas and make new quilting friends. Leave an emoji 👋 if you would like to be a quilt friend.
OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS A BREAKTHROUGH FOR ME!! I have never made a quilt. I like to sew and I can barely crochet. I definitely can blanket stitch and I can definitely sew squares evenly on the sewing machine. When I saw this today I thought oh this looks interesting. And now I'm only 10 minutes in and I have already decided that I must do this. This will be my winter project to come. I will take my time and I'm thrilled. I cannot thank you enough for making this video young lady who I don't even know❤❤❤ I have saved this in three places so that I am sure that I do not lose it. You know I never thought I'd be able to make a quilt in my life but I know now I can and I want to and again I thank you. Miss Trinity from West Virginia in the USA.🎉😁🌹
I love this. I am a quilter and a crocheted. A wonderful way to do both and not have to choose. First time watching your channel but not the last. Would love to see the embroidery below, my other love
I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much you're going to make one for yourself! You'll be surprised that it won't take as long as you think might once you get going 🪡🧵🧶
I used to make these kind of squares when I was a kid. Didn’t know they were called a fusion quilt. I did mine all by hand. Wasn’t aloud to use Mom’s till I got older. I used to call mine the left over blanket. Yours is beautiful.
Beautiful, Marion! What a lovely way to combine fabric with crochet. The little corner flowers are such a nice touch. I used to love watching mom crochet her doilies when I was little. Now, many decades later, I am able to teach teens how to crochet for their school community service projects. Isn't it nice that crochet is in vogue again! Thank you for the very clear instructions and demonstration for us visual learners!
I love the fusion quilt. It’s definitely something I’d consider doing. Thank you for all the tips and advice. As usual, you have explained everything so well. xx
I'm in America (Georgia) and just love listening to you give instructions. I love this blanket, especially the fabrics...so beautiful! My goal is to go through my stash of scraps (so many scraps!!!) and try this out. I've been sewing for 60 years, so you can imagine the amount of scraps I have. I hope you actually got to make some clothes for your holiday and that you have a great time away.
I had one as a 21st birthday present in the mid-1970s and sold it many years later. I’ve regretted that ever since no machine I’ve had has been quite so good and I have a more modern Bernina now
Marion, thank you so very much for showing us how to do this. Your instructions are so easy to follow and now I can make one myself. Have a wonderful day. ❤
Marion, I sure do love visiting your world ❤. I'm a quilter and I crochet, and I find your instructions very easy to follow. Thanks for showing this. I'm going to prep some blocks for a take-along project. It was also lovely to see you wearing your necklace and butterfly pin. Enjoy your travels ❤. Be safe.
I'm a first time viewer and I LOVE this!! 💖😁 Just wondering about this comment on your necklace . . . did you make it? 🤔😃 And if so, do you have a tutorial? 😉 I'd love to give one a try! 🤩
Marion, your demonstrations are very easy to follow and your work is excellent. Thank you for showing this, I've never crocheted before but I think I can do that by following your instructions. Again thank you for your time.
You are a wonderful teacher! I love this method of putting quilting and crochet together. These are my favorite hobbies. I’m subscribing to your channel. ❤😊
I have never seen that blanket stitch tip using a paper with measured tick lines to keep your line of blanket stitches equidistant. Brilliant! Thank you for this entire tutorial. You have combined my two favourite crafts: Quilting and Crochet. And it just looks fabulous!! 🌹🌹🌹
I'm so happy to have finished it... 😊 The paper thing is quite an old way of helping to keep stitches even. Some people used to put the marks on the side of their thumb 😅
I am so happy that you are doing this tutorial! I have wanted to try a quilt like this and had no idea how to start. Now my fingers are itching to make one too. Thank you Marion, as always you are so easy to follow…your explanations are brilliant!!!🥰
I'm so glad to see you finishing this quilt, Marion! It was my first choice of projects for you to finish when you asked your viewers for our opinions.☺️
Just discovered you Marion and your work is lovely. I lived in Yorkshire for nearly 20 years and it’s lovely to hear your voice, and that you say “crochering”, just like my mother-in- law did, instead of “crocheying” -we who pretend we’re French! Sometimes I say “crochetting” because I’m musical! I really love that duck egg, eau de nil cotton yarn, it’s my favourite go-with-anything colour. Why on earth would anyone discontinue it! Right, I’m off to delve into your other videos! Thank you
You've got me thinking now 🤔 I do say cro-shay... But I put the t in when adding the ing...😂 I love the colour too..did you notice my dress is virtually the same? 😊
I’ve not seen a fusion crochet quilt before. Love that sage color cotton yarn you are using to crochet them together! You have so many neat tutorials! Many years ago I knitted, crocheted, cross-stitched, even tried hooking a rug once. You inspire me so much to dig out those crochet hooks again. This gives me an idea on how to use some of my cross-stitch projects I stitched up back in the 1970’s and 1980s. At the beginning of the year I was in the bin where they are waiting for me to do a special something with them. Thank you for sharing your beautiful crochet quilt with us!! This project might just where they need to live from now on!!
So glad to see how to crochet the quilt squares together. I may try using 2 or 3 strands of embroidery thread for the button hole stitches. Thank you for the info.
wow what an absolutley gorgeous quilt !! you are so talented but equally you explain the process so eloquently that even a beginner like me can understand. watching your videos is so inspirational. trouble is i have all the enthusiasm and none of the talent 🤣 so i just have to keep on trying !!! thanks again Marion ❤
Thank you for your video. You are a good teacher. I just hope I can be a good student. I’ve never quilted before & I love crocheting. I’m going to have a go at making this. I am watching this in North Queensland, Australia.
This is easy because the separate squares are so quickly made. You could even change to long strips or hexagons. Then just use appropriate crochet to put them together..
Just line (with cloth) the crochet hook case you have already. It is lovely! My daughter just had a little girl and I made the bedsheets for her crib. I have fabric left from making the bedsheets so now I know exactly what I’m going to do to make her a quilt to go with.
Wish I had learned all this earlier in life. This is fascinating to watch but I believe it would take me years to complete one quilt! So much to learn and so few years left.
This is a lovely quilt Marion, in whatever size it's done. And a great way to use fabric scraps. Thank you for this crochet and fusion quilt tutorial! Have a wonderful vacation! And thank you for the continuous inspiration. ❤
Oh Marion your quilt will look a picture. This is something I really would like to try in the future. It look so much fun to do. Enjoy your time away. I am sure it will be a wonderfully relaxing time. xx
Marion, my goodness how beautiful!!! The colors and your stitching are lovely. I’ve never heard of a fusion crochet quilt. Thank you for teaching this method.
Spotted this on my Google homepage. Being left-handed myself, who was taught to knit right-handed many years ago, which led to crocheting right-handed as well, it’s nice to see work being held in the same manner as I do when stitching it 😊 🇬🇧
I enjoy crocheting simple squares and rectangles to use as coasters or soap holders or face clothes. There’s no pressure as I was learning. If they turn out a bit wonky, it doesn’t matter. Little by little, I have improved. Give it a go!
Things are easy for people who know how to do them..... I find the filming difficult as I am still learning about lighting and focus etc. I don't find it easy at all yet others will say they find it easy... You don't have to learn how. Just enjoy the things you do like to do... :)
New subscriber. I couldn't pass up your video and, ohhh my goodness, this is just sooo very beautiful 😍!! Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous project ... and in such great detail!
Well, I love this project, the colors of the yarn…beautiful!!! I may try to do a quilt, using your ‘made squares’ & join with fabric. You are a joy Marion ! 🪡💙🧵
This is a wonderful project and I love the color of thread you chose. As always you do a fantastic job teaching in such a perfect pace and confident tone. Well Done!
Thank you so much for this, Marion. I can now take apart a crocheted granny square throw that was never finished because I hated the way I was putting it together. This fusion of crochet and fabric is wonderful.
Thank you Marion. That was so interesting to see. I've never found crochet easy but I've always got scraps so one of these days I might give this a go. Have a great holiday.
My projects have to be small enough to stuff in a bag. My mother has always been disappointed that I don’t quilt. I crochet because I can take it anywhere. These small squares are perfect. Love this! 💋
All my favorite crochet projects mix stitches to make lovely patterned blankets. I can’t teach things like you do. If you want a newish idea for a video. I made up a pattern that I really love. Any size, start with a multiple of 6 stitches. End with +2 to turn work. Then (Am. Double, Eng. Treble will be “D/T” below) in every stitch, turn, do 3 rows. Then do a full row of single, and turn Then do “shell stitch” for 4 rows. That’s 3 D/T in first, skip 2, single, skip 2, 5 D/T, skip 2, single, skip 2, 5, and on… Then do a “level up” row, every high point gets a half D/T and low point get a D/T, so, basically 3 half, then 3 D/T to the end and turn. Then a row of single. Repeat until you’ve made the length wanted. I like to single crochet around all the edges to finish the sides off neatly. For some reason it looks like an antique memory to me.
I love this idea. I don't like machine quilting, but I do love crochet. I also do embroidery and now, I know what to do with my embroidery squares. Yeah! win all the way.
I love this idea of joining quilting and crocheting together. Both of my grandmothers did quilting, and I have been crocheting for 60 years. My mother also did crocheting. Although I gave my sewing machine to my granddaughter, I have a friend who has one I'm sure I can use. I really would like to give this idea a try.
Marion, you are such a delight to watch and listen to. I am a longtime quilter, but don’t crochet. Your fusion quilt is gorgeous and makes me want to learn to crochet. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing creativity!
The crochet is a very easy beginner sort of a pattern. Maybe give it a try on a practice square and see how you get on. I've tried to explain the crochet enough for a beginner person...
I’m so glad you showed us how to do this fusion quilt. I’ve admired them but wasn’t sure how it was put together. Thank you so much. I hope you are having a great time on your trip❤️🥰🦋
Your vintage Bernina is so beautiful. My dad was abusive. When my mom went back to school and then to work; the FIRST thing she bought when she had her own money was a Bernina 830 (it was 1979). She ended up selling it a few years later for pennies in consequence of post-divorce poverty. She has sewn on horrible low-end plastic machines since. My siblings and I just acquired a used Bernina 830 in pristine condition to give her for her 80th birthday. That’s beautiful sentiment
This video gave me the idea of using a few of my late mother’s hankies to make blocks and then crocheting them together to make a throw.
Nice idea!
I was thinking this would work with my old school t-shirts.
That would be beautiful!
You may want to reinforce them with a stabilizer of some kind, first.
That sounds lovely. You might see if a bit of cotton would be useful as a backing for the hankies as they're usually quite fine and I think I'd use some old cotton sheet to help with the thickness...

Thank you ☺️ I'm glad you enjoyed it 🧶👍
Just discovered you Marion and your work is lovely.
But I put the t in when adding the ing...😂
I love the colour too..did you notice my dress is virtually the same? 😊
What a wonderful idea! Crocheting around the blocks makes a beautiful quilt. Your work is very precise and neat.
I think they'd look lovely showcased by the crochet 🧶
What a lovely idea, Marion 👍
This was a first for me and I love it. Thank you.
There is a word for this ??!! YAY ! So glad to find your channel , I love it !
So glad to see how to crochet the quilt squares together. I may try using 2 or 3 strands of embroidery thread for the button hole stitches. Thank you for the info.
Yes good idea 👍
@@Sand-Lind something else to look up ! 😃
Very beautiful. Love the combination of quilting and crochet.
wow what an absolutley gorgeous quilt !! you are so talented but equally you explain the process so eloquently that even a beginner like me can understand. watching your videos is so inspirational. trouble is i have all the enthusiasm and none of the talent 🤣 so i just have to keep on trying !!! thanks again Marion ❤
Enthusiasm and joy of making is more important 😊
@@marionsworld24 yes, i agree ❤
❤ love this. Thank you Marion.
This is one of the things on my (long!) list of projects I want to try. Thank you Marion and have a wonderful time in Scotland!🍀💖
So, nice to watch your video. Teaching like a mother to her child. ❤
How beautiful is the fusion of quilting and crochet. 😊
Your Bernina sounds wonderful and what a great idea to use up scraps of fabric and yarn, thank you for sharing
It's a lovely blanket👍🧡💐
Beautiful work Marion. I'm glad your channel appeared in my News feed.
🧶👍☺️
Hi Marion. This tutorial was really fun to watch. Such an amazing project! Love it! ❤❤
Thank you Marion!!! I do appreciate all the details you give with explanation! What a pretty way to do quilt as you go!
That's beautiful. It's so fun to combine different crafts.
Definitely ☺️
I have never seen a quilt like that before and it is beautiful!
The blanket is absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing it.
Beautiful job ❤
Just line (with cloth) the crochet hook case you have already. It is lovely! My daughter just had a little girl and I made the bedsheets for her crib. I have fabric left from making the bedsheets so now I know exactly what I’m going to do to make her a quilt to go with.
☺️👍
Marion, you are an amazing woman. So much talent!
Masterpiece 😍
❤that is beautiful I've got to make one , thanks for letting me see your work, I have never seen one like it❤❤❤
Wish I had learned all this earlier in life. This is fascinating to watch but I believe it would take me years to complete one quilt! So much to learn and so few years left.
We need to keep on creating and making whilst we can... ☺️🪡🧵
This is a lovely quilt Marion, in whatever size it's done. And a great way to use fabric scraps. Thank you for this crochet and fusion quilt tutorial! Have a wonderful vacation! And thank you for the continuous inspiration. ❤
O yes I am a crocheter and now with this O thanks 🙏🏿 ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Very pretty fabrics, thanks for showing me how you work it
❤
Thank you Marion! Have a wonderful trip! Your smile brightens my day. I so look forward to every video you create! Lovely work as always! Amy D.
Thanks Amy 💐
Thankyou Marion. Your tutorial is the easiest I have come across.😊
Oh Marion your quilt will look a picture. This is something I really would like to try in the future. It look so much fun to do. Enjoy your time away. I am sure it will be a wonderfully relaxing time. xx
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I’m so glad there was no one to teach you how to crochet left handed. 😉💖
😅
Marion, my goodness how beautiful!!! The colors and your stitching are lovely. I’ve never heard of a fusion crochet quilt. Thank you for teaching this method.
This was so good to see. It is a great way to make a quilt. thank you
Hallo ganz tolle Arbeit und geniale Idee ich liebe auch Patchwork kommt auf alle Fälle in die Ideeenkiste zum Nachmachen für die Zukunft gut Stich
Brilliant Doris. Thank you for watching 💐☺️
It’s so pretty! Love the colors! Thank you for sharing!❤
Never thought about crocheting quilt squares together. Don’t really like to crochet but I will make one anyway. Thank you.♥️
You don't have to crochet them if you don't like doing it... 🤔
I love this technique when using vintage Christmas cards for making bowls. So happy to see you doing this project. 💕🇺🇸
Spotted this on my Google homepage. Being left-handed myself, who was taught to knit right-handed many years ago, which led to crocheting right-handed as well, it’s nice to see work being held in the same manner as I do when stitching it 😊 🇬🇧
😊👍
Thank you Marion. I have tried many things but never crochet.
Odd how people tell me it's easy but my brain cannot fathom crochet!! ❤😆
I enjoy crocheting simple squares and rectangles to use as coasters or soap holders or face clothes. There’s no pressure as
I was learning. If they turn out a bit wonky, it doesn’t matter. Little by little, I have improved. Give it a go!
@@carolentringer8836 Maybe I will try but not today!! 🧐
Things are easy for people who know how to do them..... I find the filming difficult as I am still learning about lighting and focus etc. I don't find it easy at all yet others will say they find it easy...
You don't have to learn how. Just enjoy the things you do like to do... :)
Your work is so Beautiful. I've never thought of Crocheting and Quilting together which is so Brilliant. Thank You for Sharing With Us!
New subscriber. I couldn't pass up your video and, ohhh my goodness, this is just sooo very beautiful 😍!! Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous project ... and in such great detail!
Thank you so much for sharing this project of yours, it's wonderful! It has definitely given me some new ideas ❤
Another lovely informative and honest video. Thank you so much. Enjoy your quilt. Sue x
I'm a knitter and crocheter who just learned to quilt. I can't wait to give this a try! Thanks for the easy-to-follow lesson.
Oh my goodness I get enough if your teaching Marion
Love this! 💋
They definitely are!☺️🧶
All my favorite crochet projects mix stitches to make lovely patterned blankets.
Then do a full row of single, and turn
Then do “shell stitch” for 4 rows. That’s 3 D/T in first, skip 2, single, skip 2, 5 D/T, skip 2, single, skip 2, 5, and on…
Then do a “level up” row, every high point gets a half D/T and low point get a D/T, so, basically 3 half, then 3 D/T to the end and turn.
😊😅
I don’t think I have seen any so talented as you . Absolutely beautiful. You help me tremendously. Thank you so much . Have a super blessed day .
That is beautiful 🤩,I haven't crocheted in a few years so I'm hoping to get to start this project someday 😊
You'll love it I'm sure ☺️
Marion, you are such a delight to watch and listen to. I am a longtime quilter, but don’t crochet. Your fusion quilt is gorgeous and makes me want to learn to crochet. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing creativity!
The crochet is a very easy beginner sort of a pattern. Maybe give it a try on a practice square and see how you get on. I've tried to explain the crochet enough for a beginner person...
A really nice way to join up the small quilted squares. Fun to watch. Thank you.
I’m so glad you showed us how to do this fusion quilt. I’ve admired them but wasn’t sure how it was put together. Thank you so much. I hope you are having a great time on your trip❤️🥰🦋
