My great grandmother worked in a bonnet factory in Atlanta in the late 1800's. They were allowed to take the scrap material home. She made crazy quilts from the silk velvet. 3 are still in the family and valued @over $7000. No amount of money can replace them.!
What I like about this technique is that it will also work with stretchy fabrics. I got a lot of jersey scraps from sewing for my nephews, that are just to cute to throw away, but not suitable for classique patchwork. Thanks for inspiring me :)
Seeing an unconventional idea like organza over those beautiful bright colors and a new idea can spark new ideas in me. I appreciate seeing all the great and “easy for beginners” things you make! ❤
Thank you so much Thuy, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and pretty bag from all those tiny scraps. Your. So amazing with your sewing 🧵 And everything is sewn so beautifully too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤
I absolutely love all of your clever ideas. I have the tool that you used to thread through the top of the bag. I had no idea what it was. So now it makes sense.😊 Thank you for all of your clever video's. From Ireland.🇮🇪
Thank you so much Thuy, I really really enjoyed watching you create this very beautiful and totally unique piece. It’s very very stunning and I’m never going to throw away the smallest piece of fabric. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
What a lovely idea. I love the muted pastel look. What fabrics did you use? I know one was one sided adhesive, what fabric did you use as the white semi sheer?
I feel it will wear away quickly where it is rubbed on bottom of bag etc. I think I would use bondaweb iron on (double sided) between scraps and wadding before quilting
Using tiny pieces, some may ravel or catch when using the bag. It is just a way to secure the scrap for quilting. I’ve seen others use other overlays. Guess it is personal preference.
The small pieces of fabric had to be contained before they are quilted. The fabric scraps will be seen thru an organza , voile or netting and the quilting is necessary over the surface of what ever fabric is used. This is not a new technique.
You can also use a white foundation fabric OR fusible Pellon, then scraps, then Sulky wash-away stabilizer then quilt it to death & dissolve the stabilizer, OR add shimmery net or tulle over the top and then quilt it.
I enjoyed watching your videos I'm not sure about what the base with a sticker that you used. Thank you again for your time And the great idea @thuyphan_madewithlove

Love it! I love that you don’t get rid of all the scraps! I had to get rid of mine but now I won’t ever again! Thank you!
So pretty! I love how the sheer material made all the scraps look like pastel colours or almost like watercolour ❤
This is the sweetest little thing. Thank you for sharing this with us.

So was that interfacing that you stuck the scraps to First? I never saw a sticky one. Where do you get that kind of paper from and what is that mesh

GORGEOUS bag & great tutorial. 💐💐💐💐💐
What did you use for the strap? I’m new to sewing an love the bag you made 😊
Beautiful!
A lovely way of using up scraps x Why did you cover it in a layer of organza? You can't see the lovely fabrics properly!
Probably to anchor the very small pieces. I might have preferred something more sheer.🤨
I feel it will wear away quickly where it is rubbed on bottom of bag etc. I think I would use bondaweb iron on (double sided) between scraps and wadding before quilting
It would not have occurred to me to use the organza either but have to admit it gave it a soft feminine look.
The organza not only protected the smaller pieces from fraying, but also unified/softened the colors. Great job!

Adorable!
Amei!!!!

Adorable!!!
Love it, might have to treat myself
Beautiful! What is the sticky product you used for the base for the little pieces and the shear fabric that was on top? Terrific bag!
I don't really know what it called in English. It's batting with glue 🥰
So pretty project dear

Também gostei muito ❤❤❤❤
Love your videos ❤❤❤
真的很讚❤❤
Very pretty but I don't get why you covered it up with that organza. Thank you so much for sharing.
The small pieces of fabric had to be contained before they are quilted. The fabric scraps will be seen thru an organza , voile or netting and the quilting is necessary over the surface of what ever fabric is used. This is not a new technique.
It’s just to keep the fabrics together as they can easily come off with just using interfacing
You can also use a white foundation fabric OR fusible Pellon, then scraps, then Sulky wash-away stabilizer then quilt it to death & dissolve the stabilizer, OR add shimmery net or tulle over the top and then quilt it.
Can you tell what interfacing you use and The same with what plastic you use to laminated the fabric?
Linda, maravilhosa. Gostei. Naide Curitiba PR
