    I’ve watched so many muffler videos to see what I want on my WRX. This the first one that has made feel like I actually understand the differences. Great teachers!

    I love the resonated muffler, subtle and tough love the purr

    nice breakdowns, sounds like the resonator and any combo gets that deeper tone without going to unequal length destruction. Appreciate the effort to put this up.

    I have the ETS muffled axle back and except for it being really loud at start-up I think it's perfect.
    What I also did was put as much Dyna-Mat down in the trunk area as I could. Especially in the empty spare tire well. It's like a drum in there and the rest of the trunk flooring is floppy like a cookie sheet. That's where a lot of any drone comes from IMO.

      sound mat in the trunk does help A LOT, the WRX needs all the help it can get in that department

      I have the same axle back but looking to get the rest of the cat back, but Im debating on either the resonated cat or the non resonated haven't heard from anybody's experience with the muffled axle back & non resonated cat back.

    So I am running a no muffler axle back with stock mid pipe and a welded in Paradox muffler in the mid pipe. It sounds awesome.

  • @chrischarles9218
    @chrischarles9218 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow! Great info man. Why does your stock midpipe not have that boxy resonator like mine? I'm listening on a laptop but as far as deep tone the resonated no muffler sounded the meanest.

    I have the muffled axel back , the drone is terrible but with the mid pipe and resonator it should make it disappear

  • @Anonymint-vj7bt
    @Anonymint-vj7bt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That was a lot of work. Did you deploy a drone?

    • @EdgeAutosport

      Adrian, the video guy loves flying his drones in the videos!

    This was great!
    Wanted to ask a little bit more about scenario, too, resonator and mufflers.
    This is mostly a daily for me, and stock so far. If I went with scenario too, is it truly louder than stock or just a better sound?
    It’s hard to compare to from videos, but how does it sound at startup compared to the stock drone, and how does it sound at high speeds versus stock?
    I just can’t really decide if I want to keep it stock or go with something like this option

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All of these configurations are louder than stock, with the Muffled and Resonated kit being the closest to stock sound levels. If you want to change the tone to something deeper but want to keep the volume down, go with Muffled and Resonated. It is very consistent at high and low speeds.

    Difference between 3in Non Res midpipe, vs Stock Non Res??? With Mufflers. Will the wider piping tone it down, a smidge from Stock?

    Would your preferences be different had you kept the stock downpipe and resonator? Im looking at the quad tip options. I heard the resonated no muffler with stock downpipe on another channel and it did not sound good to me, but different recording equipment so I cant really compare. In your video it sounded great, as well as the straight pipe. Also I'm in ca :(

      Just watching this video because I just purchased a 24’ WRX TR. I’m also in Ca, so I was curious to know what you went with? I feel like the muffled exhaust with 3 inch pipe (no resonator) might be a softer growl from the video, and less of a “chance” for highway patrol or city cops to mess with you? Correct me if I am wrong please.

    • @SansooIan
      @SansooIan 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ericolguin2054 I have 4in mufflers from Nameless. With just Mufflers, im finding the stock midpipe still gives the exhaust to much of a "Pah-Pah-Pah" sound. I am currently deciding whether or not to get resonated or not. The Wider piping should allow for a deeper tone range, however with straight through piping you are also getting more of sound carrying wave "Louder at distance." The Resonator eliminates the higher Range tones. So if you had Muffled with a Resonated midpipe, youll still get a good deep tone, but nothing that should warrant CHP to be like "OH WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE" Know what I mean. Im in CA as well, just my County doesn't have ordinances for vehicle sound since we are Rural. I would be a lot more comfortable driving down towards LA County if I had a Resonated midpipe. Its the "Distance throwing" of the tone that you and I should be mindful of here in Commiefornia.

    So this car was not stock exhaust forward of the pieces you are swapping out? Sounds like from comments and details in the video, you have a j pipe and have deleted the stock resonator in the intermediate pipe?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Axelback System was mounted to the stock midpipe with resonator. All of the 3 inch Catback arrangements we bolted up to a catted Jpipe

  • @Djoshi-
    @Djoshi- 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you think running the stock mid pipe with the mufflers would be okay? I eventually want to get the resonator but am gonna do 1 piece at a time.
    Or should I do stock mufflers with the resonator?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are two different pipe diameters, the one labeled "Axel Back" is 2.5in and designed to fit with the Stock mid pipe. The Catback System is 3in and uses V-band Clamps to connect the mid pipe to the axel back section so it will not mate up with the stock components. You will have to save up to go full 3 inch Catback, or settle for a muffler delete with the Axelback System. PRO TIP: as long as your set up has a resonator, it will sound good.

    It looks like you're running an aftermarket J-Pipe on the car - Is this correct? Ive been looking for clips of the ETS muffled and resonated system on a stock J-Pipe with no luck.

  • @234567king
    @234567king ปีที่แล้ว +1

    But we’re these sound clips with the j pipe you have on? Assuming it’s the ets one

      Yes, it is the full ETS system from the turbo back

      ... not everyone is going to do an ($900) aftermarket J-pipe. now, do the same thing on a car with the stock J-pipe.

    lots of 'drone' from the drone. I dislike the twin tip design of the wrx. Yes, on certain cars, twin tips signified a higher performance car, but here (both on the VA and VB), the twin tips just get in the way. On the axle back, as well as the mufflers, I would much rather see one 4"-4.5" tip (round or oval) for the ultimate straight shot (no pesky "Y"-split for the tips . Yes, the exhaust cutout in the valance is rectangular and "fits/accommodates" two round tips, but this car doesn't need twin tips. Also, adding twin tips means more cutting/weldind/fabrication whereas single tips require less of that.
