The term 'Quonset' comes from an Algonquian First Nations word meaning “small, long place”. The building style was learned from the Iroquois. We are still here.
I love the variety of homes that you show. Your series has shown homes from log cabins to that gamming/streaming Orbio to DIY kits and even lets us know where they're shipped and a price range.
My husband was an engineer for a pre-fab manufacture. They went out of business for some odd reason they did not notify thier employee's, they went into work and the doors were locked with a note on it saying closed permanently. But other companies do make some nice homes.
Framing a house takes matter of days to it's the labor cost that makes it expensive so if it takes the same amount of time it's not going to be that much cheaper it still needs Plumbing electrical and installation and if you don't know how to do those things yourself you need to get them contracted
These are great DIY kits but since the cost in the us for wood has had a sudden increase of 300-500% recently ; how has this affected the pricing on these ? Just curious
Has the cost increased on the kits that have mainly wood for the build? The cost of wood in US for building purposes has had a huge surge in price and has gone up 300- 500%!! How has this affected the pricing on these kits ? Just curious . Thx :)
TH-cam “Tony’s Tractor Adventure Homestead” channel. He has a video on the reason that we are having such high lumber prices. I think you’d be surprised.
The imagine kit is nice but I fear it could act as a giant lightning rod, which would be, ehem .. unsafe .. to say the least, for the occupants. I'd like to see this, but with rubber components in the event of a lightning strike, so insulate the electric current OUT and block it from coming in
You need to be out in the boonies which is expensive as hell if you want electric, gas, water and sewage. This would be cool for a second home on the same lot tho and could be permitted like a storage shed is.
Worth noting that most building codes are there to protect people from themselves. Basics like utilities and it not being a death trap for the occupant. Most people that complain about building codes know nothing about what happened prior to them being created.
Imagine Kit Homes sounds nice, but it will cost about $205,224 for a two bedroom home after everything was said and done. And this is for a prefabricated home!?

Good points, research and being cautious is definitely necessary with such a big purchase like buying a house. I saw a video recently by a youtuber Robuilt where he was talking about being scammed a sketchy prefab company with no projects completed and only 3d renderings on their website. That is definitely a red flag. And also, if the price is too good, I would also advise caution. Thanks for contributing.
I hate it when producers use an image of a beautiful image of an amazing project as their splash cover page to get me to click on it to learn more about that project, only to discover that the image has nothing to do with the video at all. It just means the producer is a clickbait snake, and is willing to lie and waste someone’s time by being so deceitful. If you are here because of the cover image, do not waste your time here.
I live in a steel framed house. Hideous! Steel has no thermal mass. It heats up quickly, but cools quickly. Disgusting acoustic properties also. Like living in a tin can. BUT it’s better than living in a rotting Kiln Dried Timber Framed house.
That Quonset building with the Fake Castle front is hideous! What a joke. You can't be serious. They wouldn't even allow that on the backlot at Disneyland. Fake stone plastered onto one side of a metal building?
@@joysoyo2416 Ah, no, that's not a good idea. A Quonset Bldg should have an appropriate simple metal facade and not try to imitate some other kind of architecture.
by the time your done converting the metal structures in to a home. you have spent more than what a new home would cost. so it's not worth it. plus they do not go up in value with the housing market

I would love to have the Orbio in the backyard but the zoning board and the HOA would not allow it

Of cost
Quonset huts make the most sense. I was quoted $12-$14 per square foot for a 2,000 sq. ft. building.
Orbio... 🤔 Great idea.
Interesting to see all the different ways they make a building.
Where is the one you temped us with?
Why the Bait and switch?
Its not at Steelmaster!
Wish quonset huts could have windows on their sides but that might compromise their structural integrity.
I want one. Love it. Thank you.

Who makes the building on the cover of this vlog????
The thumbnail photo is I believe a 3D rendering, but there are plenty of high-end, modern looking quonset hut homes out there, just look on pinterest.
Whether these houses available are available in India, if so, price for them.

So looks like something that our county wouldn’t permit. We have strict building rules due to being in Fl.
A lot of subdivisions will not allow these type's of homes also. No matter what state.

Correct, this video is click bait.
What is the approximate cost in Indian currency
